How is the build quality on S8 ?

@@Bigjuggs64 The build quality is pretty good. I use mine strictly at home and I do not travel on the road with it as I am not in a band of any sort. Although the build quality seems fine to me, if I were traveling or in a band I would probably have a good case to protect it. In other words, even though it’s all plastic, it’s fairly solid and lightweight. Don’t just take my opinion though, some people don’t like the build quality at all. I think mine is fine for home use.

They are different. I would go with the System 8. Overall its a better machine. I sold the peak and kept the S8.

TBH, this demo is really tempting the hell out of my to buy a System 8. (of course I'd have to buy these patches, too....they're so awwesome)

Honestly one of the best i have or ever had.

Yes they will replace all factory sounds, but you can recover them if needed with factory reset function. Thank you !

I would say they would complement each other , S8 is sounding ''softer'' and has a very different tone. I got both.

I'm finding the Peak sound a bit too digital-ish and sort of harsh in a sense and I am not too keen on some aspects of the menu diving, the sort of instrument I'm after would be more along the lines of a JX3p, that sound with very simple interface and with that sequencer, do you find is s8 is a good alternative to getting an actual jx3p? I can't keep both peak and s8 unfortunately.

Yes! The System-8 gives you the voice architecture as the System-1 but with 8 voices. You get 64 patch memories for the System-8, and 64 patches for the Jupiter-8, and another 64 patches for the Juno-106, and another 64 patches for the JX-3P! You will love it!

Ok! If I buy these patches, do I have to load them all in at once, or is it possible to pick, choose and load single patches to specific locations in order to keep my favorite presets?

@@niclasdahltv Roland made it in such way that it works in Projects so , First backup your entire Synth as a project, then import my project and form there you can select to export the patches you like and when you load your project back again you can import the individual patches. or keep both your project and mine on a SD card and switch between them.

Marcus Kruse cant remember now but you can buy my patches for very cheap and deconstruct them to learn how they were made. ;) If you have the System 8 of course.

Hey, if the Roland System-8 is good enough for Jean-Michel Jarre to use live during his concerts, it is good enough for me! I saw JMJ about a year ago in San Jose and his concert was awesome - so was the light show! I was highly amused by the fact that Jean-Michel used the System-8 on many of his songs. I would love to get a copy of some of JMJ’s patches for his System-8!

It is , System 8 is far better sounding and feature wise , you get 4 synths for the price.

You can achieve these sounds with the JDXA too. The 3 digital oscillators with 3 Partials are very similar. But it takes more time for sure.

Errrm 4. And you can add the analogue as added attacks. What I often do. That opens bizarre sound scapes.

I own both and would disagree. They are different in deed, but I couldn't tell which one's better. Love both of them!

@@larsbergen6126 Good point. I own the JD-XA and it is a fantastic synth although you need to learn it to get the most out of it. It has 4 analog voices, and 4 digital parts each with 3 partials. All of these parts can be turned on and off and selected to be controlled by the front panel knobs. Triggering it on separate midi channels from a DAW takes a few clicks to set up. Once you have it working, it's a great synth and covers a lot of ground sonically. I can program it to sound like a lot of other synths because of the analog section. The System 8 seems like a great synth with it's own synth engine plus the plug outs that emulate the Roland analog synths pretty well from what I hear and have heard in reviews. I think it would greatly compliment the JD-XA. The S8 only has 8 voices so you'd want to track it to audio to get more out of it. For Ex., Roland listened and announced the Jupiter X-m out soon, which will be 256 voices and model the Roland line up of old analogs. However it will not have the System 8 synth in it so I think it's still worth having the System 8.
