Roland SYSTEM-8 / JD-XA - "Dreaming" by gattobus 

Must have listened to this 50 times since i first heard it,if it was not for Gattobus i probably wouldnt have got into synths

Such a simple song in structure but man the way all those layers weave together is terrific. I could easily hear this in a videogame or film OST somewhere. Very cool stuff! :D

Sold most of my studio, and the JD-XA is the last synth left... thinking of keeping it. It's still a wonderful synth, and I think an unsung hero of Roland's line up. Not sure why it never took off like it should have!

Okay, so I've been watching many synthesizer related videos, and all of them, well, let's be kind, they are not so nice. But when I came across this video, I was stunned that someone was actually able to do a very tasteful on the latest synthesizers. The composition is very good, it's structured, and it has good melodic and harmonic lines. And the sounds are amazing. The harmonically rich sound on the SYSTEM-8, the delicate lead on the JD-XA, and a very tasteful arpeggiated rhythm that actually makes sense, and fits all with the timing, and the original kick drum on the first two eight notes of the phrase, its all perfect, and very original. And the synthesizers look fantastic. They sound Miami Vice, and look Miami Vice. The pairing of the JD-XA and SYSTEM-8 is indeed a pairing from heaven. This video makes me feel positive about synthesizers again. Even if there are less than 1% of fine synthesizers videos in a big swath of... Well, never mind. Let's be kind.
