Excellent video. I like the way you clearly explained the love playing of the 707 vs the prepared concept for f the mv1. Also with the 1.8 update the two can exchange files!

For anybody interested in the MV-1. the MV-1 had several firmware updates and now also has a random sound generator that you can use to make songs ! And you can import projects from 101/707 to the MV-1. the MV-1 can now also import MIDI files.

Good explanation. It makes a lot more sense to more clearly hear the intent behind the different machines. I thought the MV-1 was in a weird spot before.

Hello So im sure you know this: Putting a midi keyboard to this. I ended up getting the Arturia keylab 49 essential (MIDI CH1 KICK) (MIDI CH2 SNARE) (MIDI CH3 HiHat) (MIDICH4 KIT) (MIDI CH5 BASS) (MIDI CH6 INST1) ( MIDI CH7 INST2) So as you play the keyboard you need to choose this on the controller It was more enjoyable playing from keyboard. I'm understanding that each one of those seg has four values to it

Each one of the 7 parts has the entire Zen-Core technology to play with. It’s really a 7 parts multi timbral sound module packed with a sequencer and voice recorder (could be other things than voice) .

Thanks for this video and explanation. I am a singer songwriter and would like to see some device that allows me to rearrange my songs in a new way in order to perform them live with my guitar and the X device, so I could change some levels according to the different venues... but this is not that device, at least, not now. Keep waiting...

Your suggestion about editing the ZC1 synth through Zenbeats would be awesome, in my opinion. I went with the 707 strictly because of the access to tone edit from the device. But if the MV had that at as a connected monitor option, I would definitely have gone with that and saved a bit of cash. I'm sure that's likely why it's not implemented, as companies don't have a strong desire to cannibalize their own product offerings.

You are from montreal too!! Amazing review that was super useful! I love the performance flow on the tr8s but I found it's too limited for instruments on live performance... Definitely have to try out the mc 707 or even go with a elektron... :/ too many options!

The best explanation of how the mv1 works, I have the fa08 keyboard and I think is a great match for my keyboard, I have been thinking to buy the fantom, what do you think? Thank you for all your help.

It all depends of your workflow. The question is : why would you need the fa08 and fantom X?

I could never write a full song with variations, scale changes snd so on on that thing. I don't work that way. Interested in getting it as a tone module for studio/live use though, through midi.

The verselab is really aimed at the vocalist /rapper who wants to produce his/her own music. The mpc is a more complete and open music production system.

I miss the MV-8800 support. I was hoping Roland came out with a MV-10K (name I thought would be nice), but no CD burner. You would record your song on a USB drive or flash drive. Come on Roland I'm waiting patiently..

The Mv-8800 was amazing. Used to have one. Even screen out function AND a mouse input. A true computer replacer back then. Amazing that NO units come with that today, not the mpc's not this.

They both use the same ZEN-Core synthesis engine . So they have the same capabilities but they don’t come with the same presets. The MV-1 can only play presets, the MC-70 has access to the complete synthesis engine.

The mc707 doesn't have a song mode?..that sucks ..the mc505 and mc909 both had one ..I was hoping to replace the 505 with the 707..but I dunno what to do now ...ahhhhh!

Is it possible to create a custom tone/sound on the 707 and then use that sound on the mv-1? Export it from the 707 and import it on the mv-1? I ask this because the 707 has much more tone editing ability than the mv-1

In brief : yes. But it depends on the engine used. For exemple if you use zencore for your sound design, the patch saved will be able to play in an MC-101, Mc-707, Jupiter-xm, the software Zenology and +. But if you use a model expension (jupiter-8) it needs to be compatible to the other device.

The MC-707 synthesis engine is Zencore by default unless you use a model expansion (jupiter-8, SH-101 ..)

Are you a signer, rapper or vocalist ? If so the MV is more designed for you. If you are a synth user / Dj, the mc-707 is more for you.

I would love to hear your opinions comparing the circuit and circuit tracks (novation) from synth engine point of view, the sequencer etc has been covered a lot, I don’t believe that novation wouldn’t improve the synth engine over 4 years :), as far as versalab, it is still on my radar but mc707 is killer beast, the sound designs part on 707 sucks even with the larger display and 4 help knobs. Roland should spice up their sounds with some dirt.Picking up from 6k preset sounds becomes counter intuitive , especially workflow with four partials ...way too slow to design sounds

when they first came out at least they were generally called Neutrik connectors or Neutrik combos. so i definitely was all 'how does Nu-Trix not know of Neutrik combos?!'

@@beesleep23 ooo, you mean Neutrik combo. Of course I know about them. They are the first company to create such a connector. And yes, it’s was a wink at them when I chose Nu-Trix as a name. But it’s not the name of the connector it’s the name of the company who created the combo connector.
