Wanted to do this video because I was very intrigued by the measurements of this beautiful 36mm watches from rolex! Check them out and tell me what you think!
nkuwan You are so well-informed about luxury watches. You've obviously done your due diligence and the comparison to the US is very informative...because of course, I live in New York. thank you very much
Thanks my man! Thanks for watching! Its a very tricky way to measure the watches the easiest way is the one from “crown to 9” thats what everybody does.
I have the same 2 watches and have also measured them. The OP case has a slightly larger diameter. Both are incredible watches, amazingly robust, accurate and very comfortable to wear. The OP is classy, yet sporty. Explorer is sporty, yet classy. The OP has more wrist presence due to 20mm lug width and wider bracelet. The amazing green lacquer dial makes the OP my favorite of the 2, but the Explorer is a close 2nd. Cheers!
True but, Ive never seen this, i was shocked! I tried it till i got 36 cause i thought i was measuring wrong. Never seen anyone got 37mm so maybe it is but by the look of it on the wrist and side by side i dont think is 37
@@AndySTWT yea I agree but I’ve tried on both of these watches and I believe the OP is noticeably larger than the exp 36 .. the case is broader and the lug width makes a huge difference.. I think the better comparison is between an older 36mm explorer.. I’ve owned the 124270 twice and unfortunately it’s just too small for me whereas the OP is not imo 🤷♂️
Obviously the OP looks bigger cause of the 20mm lug width and I measured too the width of the lugs from outside and it was noticeably larger than the exp. But i did tried again the measurements of the diameter of the watch is 36.6 from 4 to 10. I do a comparison between those two cause people genuinely people have that question and dont know if the exp or the op to buy. Thanks for discussing this with me! Ill try to better at this type of videos
Current Exp36 is just too dainty for a man's wrist. 19mm lug width aggressive taper to 16mm. Yucks Prefer the previous 114270 Exp36 for symmetry and proportions. Current OP36 just rocks more.
After all, I think I still prefer the OP. In my opinion, the Explorer dial is just too bland, and I actually prefer the regular clasp instead of the professional one. If you like the story of the expedition to the Everest, remember that the climbers were carrying OPs and the Explorer is still an Oyster Perpetual, which just celebrates the ascending. 😂
Wanted the turquoise, got laughed at. Asked for green, was told not available. Was offered explorer 1, ended up buying it. After watching this video kind of want the green now 😕
You missed a measurement. The dial size (or sapphire) can really dictate how a watch looks on wrist. For instance, say an iwc 43 looks bigger on wrist than say a seadweller 43. The smaller bracelet on the explorer and likely smaller dial makes it look small. The OP 36 has the same dial size and bracelet size as a Sub40mm. The OP looks perfect
Visually the Explorer is smaller. I've also seen several people measure it as 35.5mm, which makes sense as otherwise it would look out of proportion with the 19mm lug width as opposed to the 20mm of the OP.
Man, I really want the green OP😩 I like it so much better than the current Explorer. I hate the fact the Explorer has 19mm lug width and on my wrist it looks kind of diminutive where the 20mm lugs of the OP fit perfectly!
Yes i want to do it again, i did it in the moment i didnt took measurements previously, i want it to be as raw as possible for everyone to see. I only did a little bit of research on how rolex measures their watches and the “official” way is measured it from 4 to 10. Thanks for watching! I will do another video on the matter.
Why every reviewer has to measure watches with vernier caliper? Just copy paste technical specs from manufacturers website and do something different than others. I would like to see car reviewers measuring cars with tape measure
Cause for some people measurements are very important, wrists varies a lot from person to person and they want to be sure that the watch would look good on their wrist. I know sometimes its funny or weird but, specs on paper sometimes round up numbers to say its 36 instead of 35.7 so we have to measure to see if its really 36 mm. Idk maybe you’re right but i think is useful
absolutely pathetic with calipers (your channel should be called Spending time with calipers), then you go on and show the wristshots with smudgy, dirty crystals on both pieces.
Absolute joke with measuring and comparing. This guy recalibrates part way through the comparison meaning that the measurements are not fair… lost credibility in making a comparison
Do it yourself and see, its very difficult to give the exact measurements. At least I didn’t cut out anything. im learning as i do. Thanks for watching.
