The Datejust 41 is the most iconic and versatile all-purpose dress and business watch ever made. It’s a total classic. And it’s automatic movement is quite simply the best made.
Evan your video is great and I am sharing the same issue : I would have far more preferred a 38 or 39 version.. I would like the exact same version (maybe rhodium dial, still hesitating) but I think the 36 is too small (perfect to wear with a suit though) and the 41 is a bit too big for my 6.75 wrist. I tried it and it’s still ok thanks to the jubilee bracelet but it’ maybe too showy and too big to wear with a suit for example. What do you think and how did you make your choice ? Thanks a lot for your help.
The truth is, I didn't make the choice. This isn't my watch but one I'm borrowing for the review. But I love the jubilee and prefer it over the Oyster in many cases. I'd prefer to wear my GMT on a jubilee if I could find one for the right price.
gmshadowtraders 36 on a leather fits much better ... I was also thinking a lot between the 41 and the 36 ... and decided to go for the 36 ... wait untill the new movement with come out ... it will be smaller which will make it dressier .. fits big for the leather ...the 41 is sportier .. and the dial looks a bit empty .. unless you want it with diamonds ... the 41 not flouted bezel has also too big bezel ... something is missing .. where as 36 is perfect with or without the fluited bezel ...but then again it’s all about the wrist size ... for me it’s either 36 or the sky dweller
Personally I understand the popularity of the fluted bezel because it is white gold on this however, I think the smooth bezel is perfection, it slightly more refined then the fluted bezel and I prefer that and I think this is the perfect combination with the jubilee bracelet! The fluted bezel matches the oyster more in my opinion.
Good looking watch. I like that configuration - I’m not a fan of the fluted bezel personally. This combo seems to give a nice aesthetic - quite flashy but not too over the top. I guess it’s what you already have in your collection. Rolex Sub guys like myself are oyster fans so the jubilee works as a nice change up and the soft curves of the low profile case are quite classy. I think jubilee and fluted at this XL sizing is just trying too hard to be noticed. Will definitely check it out and the blue dial is sweet. Good that these are readily available in ADs as all the sports models are all but extinct globally in the wild. Nice job guy!
Daytona 6263 I liked the ‘Wimbledon’ dial so I jumped on a steel oyster bracelet with smooth bezel. The new generation 3235 movement is incredible. Mine has settled from +2s/day to +1s/day and the power reserve is 70+ hours which is phenomenal. A perfect everyday watch for me and a nice change up from my Sub Date. Great pieces and an excellent bang for the buck.
On my 8 inch wrist the 41 is perfect size. I love the version with the roman numerals, and in that case prefer the smooth bezel as the fluted one crowds the dial too much.
I’ve owned Rolex Steel-Sport-Stunners for 40 years I FINALLY bought a DJ41 same as here but with SILVER dial..... I’m going to buy the BLUE one too as shown in your video. This is the best DJ I’ve seen over decades.....perfection....

I'm torn between a smooth bezel on an Oyster versus a fluted bezel on a Jubilee. Both have their significant charms. Sadly, I can only afford one--and it will be a stretch.
Just went into my AD this morning and found it on a white dial. I had to bring it home ! Keep faith guys, that’s a long time dream finally achieved. Thanks for the great review
I'm still deciding whether to get the smooth or the white gold fluted bezel, they both look beautiful but I know I don't way the jubilee , it's s bit to feminine
Michael Michael depends on your collection ... if you have a sporty watch get the fluted .. if you don’t like the jubilee go for the oyster ... I am thinking of getting the glue dial diamonds dials on jubilee fluted... probably too much .... but who cars you life once ... if you want a dress watch get lange jlc Glashütte
Smooth makes it more versatile. Jubilee and Fluted makes it too dressy in my opinion. Like sergey said, if it is your dedicated dress watch get the fluted version.
I just ordered mine through my local AD in Australia, AUD13900 in the fluted bezel. I prefer the fluted complexity to match the sparkle of the jubilee bracelet. But seeing yours, it also totally makes sense so well done you. I am just hoping mine is delivered before the next price rise on Jan 1 2021 to keep my 2020 rrp.., fingers crossed.
I have a 7.5 wrist. I own the deepsea dweller 44mm. I'm kind of scared of buying the 41mm thinking it will look too small on me. I would buy this but I would have to try a 41mm on first.
I just bought the same watch with the Rhodium dial but I wear my 2001 36mm silver dial , fluted bezel with jubilee more often. Especially during the day. I don’t have a small wrist but something about the 36 that excites me more for some reason. My 41 is also nice but looks better in the evening to me.
I started watching this video to get some opinions in the comments re whether I should pay to get my DJ41 dial swapped from black to blue....but watching this video tells me everything I need to know!
This was a very helpful video. I was considering the oyster bracelet on this model but I like the Jubilee. I can’t bring myself to take the Jubilee bracelet with the fluted bezel, it’s just too over-the-top for me. Appreciate you showing the two-tone with chocolate dial - I didn’t know that model existed. @@rex86uk I did! Azzurro Blue fluted bezel with oyster bracelet. Love it. Trying to learn now how to fit a leather strap to its 21 mm lugs. Extremely complex process, using end links. Congrats on your new watch. Enjoy it!
빵군tv the 36 is good anough ... the bracelet will overtake the case and flawlessly continue the jewelry feeing on your wrist ... but yeah 38 would be really perfect
Hi ! I know they are brand new and scratch free, but once that two tone DJ gets scratched in a bezel area, is there a way of polishing it without having to affect sharp edges ?
I will never buy a Rolex until they quit falling behind the times and get a larger date wheel like the Grand Seiko, so it doesn't need a magnifying glass.
funny i was watching this video thinking of my second watch to get with blue dial. and then i seen you have the rose gold choc dial fluted which i have just bought few months ago. how does the jubilee look on that ? i didn't do it on the rose gold cuz it looked to feminine..

Nice video and review. I chose the white dial last year but with the oyster bracelet and loving it but blue dial is beautiful too. Can't go wrong with either color. Still trying to get the hang of figuring out how to adjust the links. You make it look easy. I think it is one of the most classic models but Rolex has a few and frankly they are all excellent.
Google ‘Rolex 116598SE’ (aka. The Leopard Daytona). When Rolex tries something new it sometimes makes something truly horrific. So it’s best they stick to the classics.
Beautiful, I want the fluted more but if I can get a better price I'll buy this, oyster bracelet is a must have, the jubilee is too dressy and a bit feminine
That white date window is a deal breaker for me. It needs to blend in more. The date window throws the dial all the way off. Everything else is beautiful

Mike Mush that is 100 percent not possible where I live anymore. I know people who are top clientele of Rolex AD’s get zero off any steel watch particularly steel sport models. They will get the models much quicker then the average joe though
@@danielplainview4778 That's unfortunate. I'm in a pretty rural area. I feel like the rural AD's get a disproportionate amount of inventory and the rebates reflect it. We've never really felt the affects of the shortage. I mean, you're not going to see a Daytona or Pepsi, but I've seen pretty much everything else recently including a Hulk in the case.
Beautiful, but yours is missing a fluted Bezel! The DJ in any size variant needs to come with a fluted Bezel! (Also, I own the DJ2 116333 Wimbledon Dial) Your model Variant seems confused, it’s trying to be sporty with a smooth Bezel and Blue Dial, yet it’s on a Jubilee Bracelet??? Hard Pass
