The submariner is more for the average joe that doesn’t know much about watches, they just want the most famous Rolex 😊 The explorer is more for the watch enthusiasts that want something rugged, tool watch that doesn’t scream Rolex
I would say yes if you are referring to the sub-date version. The sub-non date in my opinion is for the folks who understands the real history of dive watches and wants to be true to the original which has no date.
Nice video! Glad to see you wearing this tool watch as intended and not being precious about scratches.. I've been wearing my ref 226570 black dial as a daily since new and each scratch makes it more mine.
Great piece mate. Own the 216570, and its awesome. At least the 226 has that updated 70 hours reserve tho. Recently acquired smp300 and a speedy, and the rolex quality does shine in comparison. Cheers.
Very nice video. I would like to ask one question: I find that the reading of the Sub is not always optimal in certain light conditions (then the white gold in front of the lacquered dial is not so well visible). The EX2 has larger hands than the Sub, is this noticeable in everyday life, so do you find that the EX2 is much easier to read than the Sub? Thank you very much.
Nice watch brother..... I have an Explorer II Polar Dial 226570 on the way as I type this. two months in waiting right now...the AD anticipates 6 months. Cant wait.
My personal preference is my GMT2. I found the Explorer 2 a bit too chunky and heavy for my taste. Also to rotating bezel on my Batgirl is surprisingly handy for figuring a third time zone. I will stipulate that the Explorer 2 is..in my judgement.. more attractive and relatively lighter than the Tudor iteration. Still…taste is always highly subjective. As for first Rolex…I always advise my young collector friends to start the Rolex leg of their journey with the Explorer 1…preferably in the 40mm version. Happy days!
I have the BLNR as well (as you might see on my profile pic) but for traveling … it’s the explorer ii who always comes with me… it’s the perfect traveling companion. The GMT is too loud for traveling this days unfortunately
Great job on the video, and great pairing up with the Submariner, You managed to inflict some huge gouges in the clasp. Just pick up a GMT or Daytona to round out the trio.
I got the explorer II way before the sub. So the sub is more of my casual daily and the explorer II is my travel watch due to the GMT function( and I travel monthly) . I fear it might have less wrist time when I get a GMT master II
