I remember watching your video on this when you first got it, I commented as I got mine within days of you getting yours, and you are absolutely spot on about this watch! I kept it unworn for a couple of months until Rolex didn’t change anything in April. I can honestly say I’m so glad I started wearing it and I absolutely love it, I don’t think it will ever leave my collection, GMT function perfect for holidays abroad, everything you need In a watch! 👍🏻
I have the new black dial explorer 2 and although I appreciate the white dial, I fail to understand why people pine over the latter. The black is easy to read and slightly more elegant…
What a great discussion and thoughtful questions from the community! I am honored to receive a double-thumbs up for my questions, and the depth of your responses did not disappoint!
I'm awaiting my AD for the new version (black dial). Tried out the exhibition piece at my AD and I was instantly sold. The 42mm case size is not really overwhelming at all....it still wears than most Tag Aquaracers/Breiting diver watches. The new versions now come with anti-reflective sapphire and the black dial is more jet black with brighter white numbers than the previous gen.
Make it 40mm, lume the bezel numbers, increase WR to 200m, increase index sizes a bit to better fill negative space. Having said that, I've had my polar dial for a week and LOVE it. So legible and incredible lume.
@@stu632 when I travel, I do some rough water sports like jumping off cliffs, falling off jet skis, etc that causes extreme water pressure and 100mm isn't recommended for those.
I never considered this watch looking at it online, in pictures or even in videos. That was until I tired it on at my AD. I was sold and asked to buy it.
@3:00 keep in mind, the way the industry rates water resistance doesn’t correspond to real water depth. For example, 100 meters doesn’t mean you can take the watch that deep
The explorer 1 & 2 were and are great. Generally Rolex might not manufacture tourbillion or high complications watches, but what they are offering is top notch. Personally, I don't like green models, Pepsi, batman and jubilee bracelet on gmt cases, oyster is better.
@@ginocolella6373 no one replied because the simple fact is 904 is ten times the quality of 316. Most serious Rolex fans and perspective buyers are fully aware of this as a serious benefit. Do some research and you will see.
Significant resistance to corrosion. After you swim with a watch that uses 316L steel, it's recommended to rinse with clean water, however, with 904L, you wouldn't need to (I still would tbh). But the use of 904L makes it more geared towards professional use. Rolex could have easy cut costs by using 316L but luxury is about having more than necessary. It's also a tad bit harder making it more difficult to work with.
That's my only little niggle with the Explorer II. It's perfect in dang near every way, but the crown is a little small for such a big sports watch. Although I also get that, the smaller crown is better protected by the crown guards.
No man andrei, thank you for accompanying us in this weird hobby and for being an amazing guy all round, keep being awesome, btw what would be your perfect 4 watch collection, given a dres, everyday, beater and diver/field pieces??
Thank you Manny for your kind words :) And thanks for being close to me and the channel! as for a 4 watch collection, I see a dedicated episode for such a subject :) In my actual state and experience. I'd go with a dressy, JLC Reverso, Cartier Santos, for a diver, a Doxa sub, Seamaster 300 or Blancpain FF, for a field / Pilot, an IWC big pilot / hamilton field watch or a longines marine nationale and for a daily beater, something inexpensive but cool :D
Really don't like it myself, too much like the sub (which I really dislike) - just a shame they didn't bring back the "Steve McQueen" one with squared off indices, so much better looking & less "generic Rolex" Got an Airman (24 hour purist) on it's way 😉 Cheers Mate 👍🏻👍🏻
Thanks for the contribution Steve! :) McQueen I think will never be relaunched by Rolly. I see already the job of Tudor to dig for old famous models :)
@@BraveBeaters no, like yourself I prefer bigger watches, so opted for the 42 (in my case, because of age- shocking how much eyes deteriorate once over 50).Cheers 👍🏻
@@jimlittle5769 exactly what I'm saying - you've pointed out the only obvious differences. It's too generic Rolex, a basic design I just don't enjoy myself, but to each their own.
You shouldn’t have put it next to the Glycene which is so much more attractive design wise. Even if the Glycene were more expensive? it would be my choice. Rolex worth it because you can sell it for more? You should buy it because you want to wear it not because it could be more vs,unable one day. Buy gold if that’s your game. A lot of people are gonna get caught out if investing in watches for profit. Like those pigs who buy important art and lock it away or beautiful cars and store them for the next auction. It’s all GREED.
Saludos hasta Covid Landia, ok ok in English, what I mean is regards to Covid Landia LOL I really like this model, I had the chanse to wear it in the store and I fall in love, it's simply perfect, sport and very dressy watch.
