it addresses a lot of things some people dont like about the datejust 41. The size, the polished center links, and the cyclops lens. I guess most people will not buy these if they just want a “rolex” watch because the design is so subdued and doesnt scream rolex at all. Its the watch enthusiasts who will appreciate this watch.
one of the best looking watches in the Rolex lineup. Truest to the heritage of Rolex--sports watch, oyster case, no nonsense, brushed bracelet, rugged, versatile.
This watch reminds me of my first ever Felicia wind up watch when I was a kid. My dad bought it for me so I wouldn't be late for school as I had to catch a train and a bus to get there. This would be a nice addition to dedicate those great times of my youth. I hope you still have it Bear. It's a classic. The Rolex OP, not my old Felicia. :)
I bought my first Rolex last year at Joseph Anthony-a Z-Blue Milgauss. I couldn't be happier! Now I have my eye on this. I guess you can't just have one!!
Never considered an OP before but as you noted this white reference OP might look great next to my Explorer. Will have to see it at a local AD. Thanks Bear for bringing this watch to my attention.
This watch looks even better in person, and better still when you put it on. Anyone considering this model, GO look at it like I did, it is striking and presents very clean on your wrist.
Gosh I so super like the simplicity of this watch. No date to adjust every month you just let it breath in your wrist. What makes this watch so special is its Rolex brand makes it special not the complications. The Rolex brand name is enough no need to complicate things. I am always a fan of simple but elegant watch and that is the true meaning of luxury.
I had the explorer 1 and this OP 39 in white and it's a very difficult choice to make. The white dial is stunning and the fact it has the same movement as the explorer and about $1000 cheaper makes this a very serious contender.
Bob FromBrisbane welcome.! Archie and Clyde friends are more than welcome to my channel. I think you will be very pleased with this watch. Thank you for joining me and for watching.
Watched this video fairly early on and now coming back. The white wasn’t my preferred color in the beginning - I was leaning towards the Rhodium, black or maybe blue. Then I went to check the DJ, the Seamaster, the IWCs... Now I think I’m wanting the OP white more than the other options - it’s something that draws you in gradually. Good choice and great review!
This white dial has got me back in love with the 114300. Congratulations on the new watch. It suits you very very well. Btw, how can I contact you privately for some questions? Stay blessed. Peace.
Hi Emkwan, do you still wear your grey dial 114300? I bought the OP39 after watching your Review, it is a great watch, love the simplicity. I went for the blue. The white does look great, gives it a completely different look. Have never seen any reviews in the Bear Cave before great detailed review Mr Clooney. Dave.
Hi Dave. Yes I still have it. Though I've been contemplating selling it an purchasing another watch. It's funny though, something keeps coming up which makes it difficult to sell. Maybe it's meant to remain in my collection. I do like the white dial and how eligeable it is. The rhodium suffers in low light sometimes.
Austin Daniels hey buddy so nice to see you on my channel. I actually thought of you when I was looking at this watch. I know how you feel about modern Rolex watches, yet this one could have all attributes you found appealing and it gives you choice to have NEVER POLISHED Rolex. Thanks so much for watching and I am looking forward to your new video.
Austin Daniels I think 36mm is the way to go as you will find the new oyster perpetuals at 36mm wear and feel bigger. In the end it all depends on your wrist size.
Bear Clooney Watches that’s what I thought too until I recently bought my 36mm op. When I was at the authorized dealer I tried the 39mm op and it felt too big and didn’t fit right, I found the 36mm to fit and wear perfect. The 36 op wears and feels bigger than a previously owned Hamilton khaki field 38mm. Best to try on both but again it depends on wrist size as I have small wrists I find the 36mm to be perfect. I have some short wrist shot videos on my channel, have a look for a better comparison.
Thanks for the shout-out Mike! Honest to God I just heard it now even though I’ve seen the video many times!😆 Love you and your channel Mike! Keep up the great work and I promise that you will always have my support!👍🏻 Warmest Regards, Yours truly, Hisham.
Scored the black dial version 3 weeks ago and I'm more than happy and blessed to have one.super comfy super ledgable and after 3 weeks it's bang on time with the atomic clock ⏰ a proper no b s daily wear.I'm in 💘
Mike if you still own these watches, I would love to see you do an OP vs Explorer comparison. Or vs the Datejust 41. As always, I find your well informed opinion be in invaluable.
Great video, thank you! I have it with the black dial, it was an extremely hard choice to make but I am still certain the black is the one for me. The OP 39 black/white is by far the best model from the present rolex range.
Thank you for this wonderful review. I am on the fence between this model (with black face) and the Explorer model. Do you have any thoughts on why someone should get one over the other?
James, those are two very different watches! This one is slightly more universal in it's role as daily time piece and it's lower price. Rolex Sub is an icon. I can not make this decision for you, but I can tell you that you will not make a mistake getting either one of these great watches. Thanks so much for watching and hope to see you back soon
I've been debating between the black Oyster Perpetual 39mm versus the Explorer (39mm). It's a tough call. I'm leaning OP b/c it's about $900 less costly wherever I look.
Dear Mr. Clooney, I just came across and viewed your thorough personal analysis of the Oyster Perpetual with the matte white dial. You are an extraordinary advocate for this watch which sometimes seems to be overlooked because of what is perhaps too great an emphasis on Rolex Submariners and Daytona Cosmographs. The OP is indeed worthy of more respect. As one of the only available new Roles stainless steel watches for purchase at Rolex ADs, it still does not get the kind of attention of which it is deserving. The colored dials give buyers some interesting choices. I know that display backs have never been used by Rolex but the beauty of the movement is worthy of a display back. If the Oyster Perpetual was to be distinguished as the only Rolex with a display case, it might be something that would ignite greater interest in the Oyster Perpetual. There would be great enjoyment in being able to take the watch off one’s wrist and view the movement in operation. I always like your videos because you speak from your heart and manifest a deep and abiding love for horology. Best regards.
I will not consider that as an “entry-level” it might have a lower price that’s a datejust or explorer I , but firstly it doesn’t lack details and quality compared to more expensive models of the brand and secondly you will still get a luxury timepiece ., a Rolex ! No entry level status here
@@Weakeyedominant They're not talking about "watches". They're are talking about watches with *in-house movements*. Watches with *in-house movements* often run $100,000. The watches in the video are absolutely entry level.
Sorry for this late comment but I thought all Rolex Explorers (Explorer I) were black dial. You mention a Polar Explorer white dial Explorer I - is there such a thing? Thanks.
Excellent choice and review! I'm set on a 34mm OP if I get this dial, but I'm curious your wrist size. Thank you in advance and wear it in good health!
Amazing how you take your time to present the history, the details of the piece and its purpose. I really wanted Rolex to have released an OP39 in an interesting colour but unfortunately for me they came up with black and white at this BW2018. I find it a little bit bland and I fear I would get bored of it very quickly. If I had to pick one it'd be the black one.
Nexus Achiles thank you for truly nice compliment. I am sure you are aware that Rolex OP 39mm came out in some really vibrant colours. Check it out. Those might be to your taste. All the best.
Thanks for this. I am looking to buy this exact watch or the SS Daytona white face. You mention repeatedly "entry level" for the 39mm White OP. Why is this "entry level" ? Is there some lack of kudos to buy an "entry level" Rolex ?
You ask: the white vs the black. The black is breath taking, so deep. The white is more 2d, but arresting for the unanticipated complexity of its sheen. Vote is tough because in person the black takes my breath away. But the white has an unforgettable, classic layout. Since you already have the Explorer, this is perfect.
Thank you for the review. This was my choice for 2018 Basel show as well. I really want to get this one since i don't owe Rolex yet. Not sure which dial black or white though. Black dial is more sportier, i think, while white is more dressy. Price wise it is an entry level watch but i don't consider it that way. This is probably the best looking and classy Rolex (at least for me). If you are looking for one perfect luxury watch which you can dress up and down, wear on bracelet or on the leather strap i can't see anything better on the market now. This would be one perfect watch (without complications) for all occasions.. I just can't see how you can go wrong with it So your journey to find a one perfect watch is pretty much accomplished, or at least to me. I would call it perfect sports watch. I was thinking about getting Explorer 1 but now that i see OP39 white/black i think this would be my choice. These OP 39 mm in white/black dials made me changed my mind. In your video "Top 5 watches that indicate someone is watch enthusiast" , as of now, i would probably put OP in number one spot. I already have Speedy and GS SBGR261, so OP 39 would be a perfect addition to my collection, which also includes Nomos Orion 38, B&M Chronograph 65542 , Halios Seaforth and G shock.
Hi Bear, love your videos my man. Love this OP 39mm too. Can you tell me what the overall dimensions are? I know it's 39mm dia. but how wide is it from lug to lug? I thought I read somewhere it was about 48mm but that seems a little large for a 39mm watch. Thanks for the great review!
Doug Scruggs thank you so much for watching and kind words about my channel. I actually measured this watch and dimensions are as follows: L to L : 47.5 Case thickness: 12 Case diameter:39.25
Nice looking watch. Must be one oph the phirst ones. Could have pulled the trigger on one down here, but chose GMT2 instead. #whitedialprivilege Oh...and btw...PHIST
Hi Bear, i’m considering purchasing a Rolex OP 39 in white or an Omega speedmaster professional moon watch 1861. I love both of these and was wondering what you thought would be a better purchase since you own both. Love the channel, Keep up the great work.
Bear Clooney Watches cheers Bear. I really enjoy this channel. It’s a shame some of the better watch channels are not as well known as some of the more sensational ones. Caseback watches is another I enjoy. Looking forward to the new Daytona vid.
@@OPP841 As Rolex states. "For the Oyster Perpetual models the Oyster bracelet is fitted with an Oysterclasp." Oysterclasp = 3 micro adjustments Easylink = 3 micro adjustments + 5mm extension Crownclasp = no adjustments except the bracelet links Glidelock = hidden 2mm X 10 adjustments Oysterlock = this is the small folding piece which locks the clasp (e.g. submariner) Fliplock = 26mm diver's extension (e.g. sea-dweller and DSSD) You need to use a spring bar removal tool and get in between the clasp and final link.
Joeyjoejoe thank you so much for watching and feedback. Yes this watch is very monochromatic and of you like little touch of vibrant orange white dial Milgauss is certainly great choice. I did presentation video of white dial Milgauss on this channel as well. Please check it out. Thanks again.
Bear Clooney Watches I saw the 39 grape the other day. Might be tough to match all clothes with, and some might feel self conscious with purple, but on its own merits, I was thoroughly impressed by its beauty.
It will be great if you can do a quick video of comparing Explorer to your OP, these two models are the ones im considering. Love milgauss too, but a bit over my price range
