Congratulations to your newest pick! What a coincident- Yesterday morning, I got a call from my Rolex dealer! Last year in autumn, I asked to get on the list for a Oyster Perpetual 41 with silver dial. Did not expect it to get a call (no purchase history at all at this dealer) at all - but could already wear the brand-new OP in the evening!
I love how you say that you won’t sell it. I’ve literally seen you Andrew have watches and thought yep, that’s the keeper and then a few weeks later it’s gone. True addict style. Love this channel and content. He thinks exactly like I do. I think he’s going to sell this and buy a Pelagos LHD. Haha.
Congratulations mate! I remember searching high and low for OP 39’s a couple of years ago, I found a handful of grape dials, one blue dial and that was it!!! I stuck it out and got a 124270 (somehow) from an AD with no spend history! Enjoy it mate, it looks great 👍
So……I’m a huge fan of dive watches and own a Breamont, Breitling, Fortis, Aquaracer and a Bell & Ross. I’ve been watching your videos for some time. I find them pretty unbiased and to your credit you have a good balance of pros and cons. I’ve never been a Rolex fan simply because they are waaaaaay overpriced and you don’t get a lot of watch for your money, compared to the competition. However, the only Rolex I would ever buy is the OP and the Grape is simply stunning so I have to congratulate you on this one…..bravo 👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽
Congratulations Andrew ! That’s a bargain mate & Charles Fish are excellent 👌 We are watch twins now, I have the same after re-buying it in January of this year. Should never have sold it in the first place. Enjoy 😊 it a cracking watch & the best colour dial !!
That is a good duo of Rolexs. Not the obvious choices and you are better for it. I had my eye on the grape dial before the great increase in price/decrease in availability too. I am happy that at least one of us had the balls to buy it. Enjoy. --Michael
Andrew. I recun you’re on to a winner. Looks beaut, something quirky. Great duo. Globe master (sentimental and a nice bloody watch) What more do you need. Well…? You’re not buying anymore (are you) hehehe. Come on… FFS, mate…. No need to fib. Hehehe. Love you’re work mate. Really happy for you., and the missus…😉
That is a stunner Andrew, quality selection, So easy to have gone for the safe and boring white dial. I guarantee you'll be looking at this on your wrist twice as much now, than if you had bought the white dial.
I would say a few years ago I would never conside this watch, however I quite like it now. I wish I had pulled the trigger a few years back on any Rolex at retail but now look at where we are. I think it's a good pick up for your collection. Adds a bit of variety since you've got other pieces you're being a bit daring. Nice one 👍
Suits you sir. I like what you said at the end ,it’s almost the same as the 41mm but for half the price, “winner winner chicken dinner” I like the grape 🍇 even more with £7K in me pocket lol. It’s a beauty 👌🏻
I have 13 lol and 6 AP aswell as two cartier tanks of which one is a tank skeleton. All from ADs at MSRP. The only Rolex piece I don’t own is a submariner. I would send that to Rolex to have them certified with papers right now. Nice OP! I have a green 41mm! Worn it three times in two years lol. I do like that Datejust too. That’s lovely! PS the amount you paid for that OP is very good. I just couldn’t deal with not having the complete set I.e box and ALL papers… that’s just me though. I am purely a collector though.
I have the same in 39mm form to and I adore it! Coming from the Batman & bi metal Gmt explorer 2 milgauss etc i wanted something a little more discreet. And I love this as it’s so different. It gets a lot of love from the people in the know. Definitely a keeper for the min.
Nice looking watch mate . Believe it it or not , I've never even seen one in the wild. I nearly got the white one but it was discontinued days before I got it . Ended up with white datejust instead . Enjoy it Andrew , looks great on you 👍
How is it? … I’m going to get one in the next few weeks… I leaning towards the grape … I’m going to see the blue one this weekend …. Not seen either in the flesh yet! Also what is your wrist size?
I absolute love that watch. In 10 years have it serviced at Rolex. No big deal. That is classy. I bought my 16233 36 mm 30 years ago. It has Rolex diamond bezel. I can't tell you how many comments over the years. BELIEVE PEOPLE NOTICE. Be very careful over there cause crooks are getting nuts. Be safe. Good move. Neal
Congratulations Andrew! The datejust, the OP grape and the Omega Globemaster from your legendary parents is an almost perfect 3 watch collection imo! Have a clear out, Marie Kondo style - does each watch spark joy?
Hi Andrew, great selection of a Rolex watch. Here is my opinion and is to what I have already experienced in my watch collection journey. I have had the luxury to be in a situation to buy, sell, and re-buy what I sold due to the fact that it was a mistake in the first place to have sold it. You came up to the same conclusion as I did, “money being stored in watches hence why just put them on sale”. Well that is an option but for I it was the wrong action to do. I originally purchased a watch for a specific reason and when it was gone it felt a hole of want, which is why I will not put any of my watches for sale. As for the Rolex, well in my book all of them meant something for me, you see it represents a milestone in my accomplishments in life. My next Rolex purchase will represent my next milestone which is the graduation to my Masters in my current field, but my 50th birthday is coming up so I am in a toss up between two selection of Rolex’s Explorer 2 and two tone sea dweller. That being said I will sale all of my watches before the Rolexes, if I had to, one never knows. I remember when you sold your last Rolex and in my opinion I feel that you experienced the same hole of want, which is why you kept buying that next watch to help fill it. I enjoy the content and the sincerity to your message within your channel and hope to view more. Enjoy the watches and life 👍
I purchased my blue dial OP39 in 2017. Like you I have no intention of selling it, I love it too much, but some of the blue dial prices on Chrono 24 are astonishing. Some dealers are looking for almost double what I paid for mine. I think it might be something to do with the limited production run. A friend of mine was still on the waiting list when Rolex discontinued the 39.
I have to be honest Andrew I'm sorry... I love it!!! It's something a little bit different and coming from charles fish there's absolutely no worries at all. 👍
You’re not done. You’re never done. What’s next? It’s the joy of the hunt, the thrill of the kill. Once acquired you soon moved on. To the next. And the next. And the next…
OP 41 yellow or coral would of matched the bottom half of your tattoo ;) interesting choice though! have you seen the new aqua terra small seconds? on rubber strap is nice. My collection has become 2 rolex just like yours, sub 41 and explorer 2 white dial - sold my globemaster, tudor bb - very happy now but do want something flashy like a batman jubilee still lol.
Congratulations Andrew. I don’t think it’s an ugly duckling at all. It’s something different and you might be pleasantly surprised by the effect that has on you and those around you. I’ve been enjoying different strap combinations recently, rather than playing it safe with the usual monochromatic choices. I agree about the importance of box and papers for higher end pieces. I do wonder how they come to be lost with such apparent regularity on relatively new watches. Given the hiding the dealer would be likely to give me at trade in, I’d have the house turned upside down until I found them! Wear it in good health ☺️
Bloody hell thought the Brietling was for every day wear? I looked at an OP once and was not impressed, don’t know why it just did not do it for me at all. Thought about the grey dial as I thought it would be more wearable (or should I say go with more stuff). Congratulations though and I really like that dial colour and the hour pips bring it to life. Brave choice for a not inconsiderable sum either. 👍
Plenty of gushing over this watch in the comments. You’re either Rolex balls deep, or you’re not. The latter for me, but congrats all the same. Enjoy your candid vids.
Am I right in thinking that what you paid for both of them would have been enough to buy a submariner or gmt master at current resale prices? If so I think I would have gone for one of them. 👍
You'll be selling it in less than two years time (if that) simply because as you say, Rolex couldn't give them away back in the day & a huge big whopping £6,400 for that purple dial with no papers!!!!
