I have the blue Seamaster. Great watch you can wear anywhere. Many great features. I also have a 2tone black Submariner. Really classic, but hard to justify when I think I could have had three different dial color Seamasters for the price if the Sub. Omega has really stepped up their game.
What are the odds - i also own exactly these three watches😊 I mostly agree with you, but in some points, I don't. The fast adjustment on the omega is way better to me, faster and you can adjust while having it on the wrist. The Rolex only can do this in the Deepsea version. The Bezel may not sound as good on the omega, but it also doesn't have sharp teeth an gets turned when you don't want it like with the Rolex. The Seamaster clasp can also be opened very fast while still be secure, while the Rolex is more complicated. A plus to me, maybe not for everyone. I wear the Seamaster for work and it glides much easier under a shirt due to its rounded, non sharp bezel and lack of overall height, compared to the Rolex. The Rolex is an icon, but the Seamaster isn't far behind. Oh, and in my opinion, the movement in the omega is better in terms of watchmaker craftsmanship. The Co-axial escapement is superior to the quite ordinary one in the Rolex. Also, 15'000 Gauss Magnetic resistance is way better in the Omega. However, they're both on pair in terms of accuracy in my experience. Dial of the omega strikes me more, but overall appearance might be a very close win for the Rolex, imho. Two truly great watches, love 'em both.
I have had both Rolex and Omega Divers and I own an SD43. There is no comparison whatsoever. The omega is great but the SD is worth every penny and is in a different ball field because of their history.
Really good analysis of two great watches. Although similar, they’re different enough so there’s room for both in a collection (if you’re fortunate enough to be able to do that)! 🙂
@@babyshark646 I have previous sub no date and new smp. I Love both but price diference is almost double and frankly the omega looks more luxurious, the thing is you have to Love its design, not for everybody
Just stumbled upon your channel...awesome vlogs. Couple things I’m saving for a Yachmaster 40 but also want the 300M white dial should I get both...getting both would be stretching it for me. 2nd what winder do you have & what do you recommend?
Hey Tony G! Both of those watches could be in a collection for sure. I would say to go try both watches on and then decide. The yachtMaster wears small for a 40mm watch and is more elegant then the seamaster. The seamaster wears bigger then the 42mm IMO and is a heavy beast on the bracelet. It also depends if you’re lusting after a “Rolex”. If brand doesn’t matter to you, both are outstanding watches. As for a watch winder. I would recommend wolf. Middle of the road price wise and works great. 🍻 hope this helps!
@@watchesgiggles5659 I actually have tried on both something about a Rolex has that “you’ve made it” feeling but do like both. Everybody says Wolf I’ve also heard JQueen for value.
I absolutely love that Sea Dweller of yours. Begging, pleading with my AD to get me one. I just got a Sub steel and gold so hoping that’ll grease the skids. Awesome video...thanks Chris
What a great video vlog with these beautiful watches. I would like to see a comparison of the Omega 300 vs Rolex Submariner date. Thanks for this awesome vlog.
Congrats on the blue dial seamaster. I have the white dial 300M and love it. Curious which AD you were able to get 20% off in Chicago? Thanks and keep up the great content.
@N A I purchased mine when it came out in January 2020. I think I paid $4,850 before tax. The black/white dial is still moving fast at my local AD’s. Not much discount on those.
I have mk2 sd 43 and omega diver chronograph black on braclelet. Think that is a better comparison. Id say equal other than bracelet on sd 43 slightly better. Sd 43 a bit more elegant and easier wear (smaller and lighter in every aspect) both elegant and manly ...though omega feels a bit more bullet proof and rolex a bit more refinee and elegant. Love both equally but rolex definitely makes one feel better who knows maybe all marketing a bit shinier wont sell either. Was interested in sm 300 and sub but was totally underwhelmed by both . Forgot the rolex scratches way easier...
I asked my Rolex AD and they assured me that Mark2 is also “the anniversary”. Mark2 was released for two reasons: 1- it’s unfair for the anniversary to miss on the upgraded movement 2- The bracelet of Mark1 was too thin for this chunky watch and it was kind off a design mistake. What do you think ?! 🤔
Not in the same league, but both absolutely beautiful. Maybe you should have compared the SD43 with a PO or the 300M with a Submariner...nice video anyways. Thanks.
The SD43 is nice, but I've always been annoyed by the use of only three minute hashes on the bezel for each 5-minute section after the 15-minute marker. For a professional diving instrument that seems like a major oversight that would lead to incorrect on-the-fly timing. Meanwhile, each of the minutes on the SM300's bezel are clearly marked so there is no confusion whatsoever.
Im a simple man. I prefer the omega simply because it doesnt have that hideous rolex date magnifier. That makes the rolex look like an old mans watch to me. And i get why they wont change it, but its just not for me. The omega looks more modern and cooler to me.
I think that's a great point, actually. I have a Sea Dweller in my safe and I'm wearing a Planet Ocean. The PO keeps much better time and is far more interesting to look at. The factory bracelet is in the Omega box and I'm wearing it on a rubber strap... Strangely, most of the weight on the PO is in the bracelet and most of the weight in the Sea Dweller is in the watch. The Oyster bracelet is very light. Because of the different distribution of weight, I find the PO wears better for me and is just more comfortable overall... I'm still keeping the Rolex, though! :-)
Mate, loving both!! The Rolex wins for me too!! But they offer something different - they both make sense in a collection!! What about the blue Tudor Pelagos v your blue seamaster - that would be a very interesting and maybe close run thing?? Any thoughts???
Honestly I think the Rolex is also more desirable because of its James Bond connection. In the first 16 films(with a few exceptions in Roger Moore’s term) and in Ian Flemings novels, Bond wears a Rolex submariner. Bond didn’t wear an omega until 1995
Personally I’d rather have the omega. It’s widely available, half the price, more features that come standard, better looking color options, and omega now has a way for anyone to afford one. You can always find a great price on omega, or could use Affirm payments
I have the SD43 and the PO2500C 45.5. To me the PO is a far better value proposition of course. The SD43 is on another level in absolute terms, but relatively speaking its not worth $12k. The well-known law of diminishing returns.
All both of them is a Bond Watch, Rolex Submarine use by Sean Connery, Roger Moore, & Timothy Dalton, Omega Seamster Family use by Pierce Brossnan & Daniel Craig. I love Submarine & Seamster 👍🏻👍🏻
Very well said! I will go for omega as omega is a very good luxury brand yes not upto Rolex but the price you are paying makes a big difference! Great video
another Harry👋🏻 to, me, clearly the omega, less height. A sub would be about the same to wear as the Seamaster, but smaller in diameter. My wrist is about 7.5"
The way you should frame the question is: if you had 13K to spend would you buy the Rolex SD or the Seamaster for around 4K and then use the other 9K on another great watch like a JLC Reverso, the new Speedmaster, one of the beautiful new Breitling Chronographs, etc, etc? For me the answer is real easy. No way Rolex is worth 3 times the Seamaster other than as an investment. But then why treat a watch you plan to wear as an investment?
If you're so much into the 904L steel (wich is made out of angels tears by the way) I would consider only buying Ball watches from now on. The have this precious metal with the luscious luster, too
I like the rolex but my all time favourite is omega as not only its cheaper in price compared to rolex but also the seamaster 300m always been my favourite bond watch also omega less stealable and less fake duplicates of it rolex. Also if you wear rolex and your middle class then it donet make sense and nor would for public or friends as most people would think its fake one as its rolex and expensive but omega not many fakes of it and also more desirable to wear as daily and more believable that its genuine watch.
Nice to see the GMT getting some wrist time 😎! Personally not a big fan of either watch here, but if I had to pick one it would be the SD. The SD is too clunky for my taste, it’s like a fat submariner (because they are otherwise virtually identical to look at). Your “cartoon” comment on the Seamaster totally rings true with me. I don’t like the bracelet, it’s old fashioned looking and not in a good way. There’s too much going on compared to the simple and classic lines of the SD. It also looks like (brand snob time) too many cheap watches, although that’s not exactly Omegas fault. If you wear e.g. a sub or a Speedmaster they are immediately identifiable, the Seamaster less so. Hypothetical question though as the Rolex is unobtainable, whereas Omega actually want to sell you a watch.
Erm of course there are no Sub homages out there so no mistaking that then?! Probably the most copied watch on the planet so plenty of "cheap" lookalikes but no mistaking 🙄
The reason the Omega can have the sapphire case back is because the movement is anti magnetic unlike the Rolex. Metas certifies it to 15,000 gauss. I heard Omega tested it to 60,000 themselves too.
Omega seamaster for me 10 times, rolex for me is overpriced and in my country, rolex in the eyes of normal people, who use rolex people think he use a fake watch...
its better to buy the watch you like and affordable to buy. Omega is a watch that can be bought on a reasonable price, you can even buy it from the used market. rolex is overpriced and has nothing special in it. omega wins
The valve at ten on the Seamanmaster is ugly. The bracelet looks like something from the 80's. The hands are ugly, too. The bezel is the only thing that saves the watch. Sea Dweller is perfection.
You clearly haven’t got the slightest clue what you’re talking about. I bought my first Seamaster in 1997 and another two years later. I bought the new Seamaster in 2019 and the bracelets and the watches themselves are worlds apart except they are made by Omega. Stick with your G Shock and go back to school. Idiot.
As a watch the Rolex is no where near worth 3 times the amount of the Omega. As an asset though it's a different ball game and the Rolex in terms of residual is worth at least 3 times the amount as the Omega as the price of the Rolex only ever goes 1 way.
So incorrect. Rolex prices do go down, even in stainless steel models. Old submarines from early 2000 are not as expensive as the new ones. Either way, it’s a watch not a stock. Most of them will depreciate. Even a Rolex.
Crazy comparison. Maybe the omega vs a Pelagos but not the SD43. The omega is a flashy watch for teenagers and wannabe Bonds with silly hands and that dreadful HEV
Whaaat the Omega better value, are you kidding, you walk out of the store and you lose another 25%. You walk out of the Rolex store and you made a few $$. Also too much advertising, I have to unsubscribe.
