Love the sky dweller, much more useable complication IMO. I can't remember a time when I really needed a chronograph to time something, so the sky dweller's perpetual calendar is just more functional to me.
Sky Dweller movement is better and looks amazing superior complication but I would go for the Jubilee bracelet with this watch as it enhances that beautiful fluted bezel both watches are a must for Rolex collectors😊
Very nice video. However I found the Daytona lacks wrist presence, especially for its price. I have the Skydweller now and far prefer it. It also has a much rarer complication.
after so many years. i still don't get the hype of the Daytona. it just doesn't stir my emotion. yet, i have a growing love for the Sky Dweller. this watch oozes beauty and class. my dream piece would be the every rose gold... meanwhile i'd be very happy with the steel blue dial . thanks for the review.
BENTLEY GT I think the hype is because, after the submariner that everyone has, the Daytona must be one of Rolex’s most versatile watches, and the daily usability is very important for steel watches.
I own both and absolutely love both. Hard to choose and I think it comes down to personal taste, but I find that I where my Sky Dweller more. It’s a statement piece and always catches the eye and I constantly get complimented on it. I do however find that it’s too dressy for every occasion, which is when I either where the Daytona or my Submariner. On the lookout for a PK Nautilus 5711/1A-010 (blue dual) at the moment. Took me a while to decide on the Nautilus, but it’s growing on me and having tried on a few, it definitely has to be the blue dial for me.

Watching this video ..such a shame you don't wear your watches they are pristine with no marks i have a Skydweller and regularly wear it and love it .. along with other watches that are also worn . Really depends what you are init for .. to hold pieces as investment or wear and appreciate..

Harley B. Thank you! It's now been almost two weeks now with it, and I can't lay my eyes off this dial! This watch really spoke to me over the date-just. Especially because of the dial color combination. Only time it has come off the wrist is for shower, sleep and handy work. 👍 Even sometimes for messy cooking and eating 😂😂
I just got the Sky Dweller Blue Dial with Jubilee. Recommendations for a second Rolex that's less dressy for those "other" days. I am guessing most people are going to recommend a sub.
The Sky Dweller, naturally, is designed to be a traveler’s watch. GMT watches, in general, are good traveler’s watches as well. I was hoping SIHH would see an increase in GMT watches but it doesn’t look like that was the case. Personally, I think all GMT’s and diver’s should always be combined the way Omega does it. As a professional traveler, it only makes sense for me to have a GMT. Furthermore, I, like many other pilots, will enjoy a nice recreational dive during a longer layover and so having a diver would make that convenient. On top of that, many serious divers will cross many time zones in pursuit of their passion. And for them, a single GMT/diver only makes sense. Wow, I guess I got off topic a bit!
Went to a local jewellery to have a look and feel of the sky-dweller and I fell of the watch. Can't wait to buy one as soon its available. Thanks again for the review!!
hey LWC the Daytona is going for 2x retail now as of 3/1/19.. I got very lucky and my AD called me with a black dial dayonta that i just picked up at retail plus tax of course. cheers bud. what a beautiful collection you curate.
That Sky Dweller is awesome, far more elegant than the Daytona, I know that many people are screaming about the lack of Daytona's in the shops but I have to be honest and say that I would pass on having one, but I would be so so happy to have the chance to buy a Sky Dweller, this same configuration (maybe a black dial could be considered, only maybe though). Nice comparison.
Nice Video. I feel the opposite though. I think the Sky Dweller is the classier dressier watch as the fluted bezel and starburst dial are less tool watch than the Daytona. I am not a fan of the Dweller at all but can respect very cool movement within it.
I own both of these watches and I'm not sure why one would compare one vs. the other (except for a flex video) since they are completely different watches. There is no comparison, but they are both amazing for different reasons.
Currently have the hulk and the bluesy. I like both of these but I’m leaning towards the blue sky dweller. I really love the sunburst dial on my current watches and I’m afraid I’ll get bored of the smaller and lack of sunburst dial on the panda. At the same time i already have a blue dial watch. Which do you enjoy wearing more??
I will say sky dweller for sure,definitely on top the Daytona,side by side sky dweller look more stunning then Daytona,most importantly sky dweller win by the 9001 movement💪
I had the option to get the blue dial or white one - I went with the white dial, it feels more special, more legible, sporty and elegant and white goes with everything. The white dial in the Sky Dweller is kind of silver (gorgeous) the Daytona is more like a mate white....
Difficult one. The sky dweller as a fantastic movement and the way the bezel works is so cool. But that Daytona💋. It’s such an iconic beautiful watch. I would choose the sky dweller but with a black dial.
Hi LWC, just watched your video on the comparison between the SkyD and Daytona, I am having a Daytona 116515, Everose Gold, but thinking of selling it for a SkyD. However, the SkyD(336238) is in white face. It is in white dial and i heard, the white dial has lesser value. Why is this so. I mean even if you were to get a white dial you can always get it changed to the color you like isn't? Any comments or advise you can share, please? Thank You!
Great video. I prefer the Daytona. The Sky Dweller’s dial, at least on video, appears hard to read. I’ve seen a white dial Sky Dweller on another video and it looks better, IMO.
I have both, the SD and the daytona. Each watch has it's own functional usages. If I need to time for racing, the daytona is the one. If I am traveling crossing time zones, the SD is the one to wear. Both are two tone, and the SD has the jubilee bracelet and the daytona has the oyster. It then all refers to the use for functionality. I really don't care of the bling factors, just the use for each watch function. Don't fall into the pit of bling!!!😅
The lines on the Daytona are definitely more elegant. The sky dweller looks awesome, but it's a bit large and in your face. Which for all that's going on inside, I get why it is the size it is.
Have seen 🐼 on a guy wearing jeans n tshirt in cafe , seen 🐼 on a wrist of some gentleman wearing with suit next to flight seat and i must say it is most handsome watch i have ever seen on wrist, forget about hype forget about how un atainable the watch is but one thing sure it is handsome watch but i will always lean towards sky dweller for its engineering compications from brand like Rolex which is not that known for compications annual calender gmt functions makes the watch more practical in day to day use only down size from my side is its quiet big watch and looks hefty if Rolex someday decides to make it case size similar to datejust it would be an absolute pure class any way thanks for the review LWC
You are absolutely right, even as an enthusiast . I do find it extremely ridiculous to pay such a premium for either of the watches. I certainly love both the beautiful time pieces, Not a good sign for a collector.

can you maybe make a video, talking about watches in lower price range, like tissot or jaguar, something like that, i'm 25 and i own 2 tissot watches, and i have no idea what to get next, i would really like one with that steel look, and the steal braclet. my budget is between 500-1000 pounds.
I know he has a Seiko SKX, think that's the only low budget watch he has. This guy is like a arab mafia don or something, please don't compare yourself to him, he's on another level completely.
id pick the Sky Dweller. its really growing on me. im not a fan of chronographs as i prefer the second big hand to sweep not be used for stop watch. the month complication in the Sky Dweller is cool.
