I love everything of Rolland Baker besides the hysterical laughter. Is there anybody who can give me a word of counsel in this matter? My natural response is sharp skepticism of that hysteria being of the Spirit of God, but I've thought something similar about speaking in tongues until I actually earnestly prayed to God about speaking in tongues and spoke in tongues. Please only share your thoughts with me if you're experienced in the Lord and have assurance about your thoughts on this. Blessings
Hey Lightning Sonic! I too used to push back from stuff like this laughter and also tongues. I never saw any point. So I sort of left it alone in my mind. Until, like you, I got the gift of tongues in a meeting! Not even really wanting it. I loved it and understood the gift once I got it. But regarding hysterical laughter, I'll just speak from my experience a bit and what I feel confident in. I personally have experienced this laughter and have also been to Rolland's meetings in person. I would say it's very similar to when you are together with your closest friends and family, hanging out and laughing and having a great time. Sometimes we laugh until our sides or face hurt. We are laughing because of funny stories or jokes being told, but that's not entirely why we're laughing. We are laughing that hard at the jokes because of the company we are in. Such loved ones, we can be care-free and open, and just let loose and enjoy the company. It's like that but times a billion. When I've experienced this laughter, it's like every worry, struggle, care, was all just lifted off of me! I just feel happy about what God is doing and what he will do. Laughing and rejoicing in what God's doing in the lives of the people around me! I just feel total love and peace in Christ. It's like absolute trust; not a doubt in His ability to keep you and guide you. And especially when I was at Rolland's meeting, he came towards me and I could feel joy rising up in me as he approached and he hit me with his mic and, it's like God has just taken Rolland through so much in life and now he truly carries a joy for the Lord that is contagious. I felt like a thousands volts of joy and excitement filled me and I couldn't contain how happy I was for giving us Life. So I think on the outside it can look unattractive. But what's happening inside it super valuable. I know there are fakers, and people who might idolize experience. But it's like that with every area of the Christian life. I always find watching Rolland Baker minister to be such a blessing and it is wonderful to see more him from this year (...visiting Mozambique and seeing the Bakers' ministry for myself a few years ago was an amazing turning point in my faith. God is doing wonderful things!) Would you mind deleting all the heresy-hunting comments below, however? I find it really irritating that every video on the internet like this has critics writing the same old, tired anti-charismatic stuff - and I think their comments might cause problems for those that could be blessed by such teaching but aren't aware of this online phenomenon. Best just remove such comments from your page! (there are other places online where they can and do share their strange views!)
