Looking at this for the 2nd time, now 6 months into doing BJJ. It is such simple and effective stuff he shows. As a newby, arm triangle is my bread and butter but it usually involves getting the mount and trying to force and arm into position. Eric shows how to get what you want with almost no effort. Can't wait to roll on Wednesday.

Eric is 100% correct, nightmares can be caused by spiritual attachments and oppression. Don't forget, the movie "The Exorcist" was based on a true story! If anyone is having trouble with nightmares I suggest saying The Lords Prayer. Then follow it with this... "Dear Jesus, angels and saints, please watch over us tonight and keep away all evil spirits and nightmares." It works, they are there to protect you but you must humble yourself and ask. Remember, we are immortal spiritual beings having a temporary physical experience, not the other way around. Peace be with you!

I really respect Erik Paulson, not just because of his grappling ability, but because he advocates a clean, healthy lifestyle that fosters a healthy mind, heart and body. What he says might be 'unconventional' and downright loopy to many, but at least he knows where he stands in-terms of his value system. I do find it weird how he doesn't want to roll with someone because they go to strip clubs though, I mean, fair enough, a lot of people who train have an unhealthy mindset and lifestyle which I wouldn't advocate, but not rolling with them... I have noticed a few of the top fighters out there have some odd quirks and beleif systems. I remember watching an interview with GSP, and he believes sometimes whilst sitting on the couch, he'd have some sort of outer body experience where he'd end up back in his body two hours later, having no recollection what happened during that period.

One contributing reason Erik did not do well in WCC, aside from the long hair being pulled, were the strikers were not allowed to grapple in their matches. Utterly terrible rules. Once someone was on the ground, no real engagement. The grapplers for some reason were allowed to do both, even though they were matched up with other grapplers initially, until the finals, which was suppose to be a striker vs grappler.

I can answer that because I live the same life...Here in Southern California there are a lot of guys that work as Bartenders, bouncers, waiters, valets, etc..Eric bartended etc..We work at night and train during the day. There are surfers that do this too. Trust me, you never get rich! lol. But, you have more time. It's being lifestyle driven instead of money motivated. I know, my friends on the East Coast work like 9-6 and always ask where we find the time.

@@scarred10Do people's beliefs that differ with your own threaten your psychological and emotional security and therefore you just have to make a statement to reinforce your beliefs because that's what keeps you grounded since the thought of those things you disagree with possibly being true invokes fear in you subconsciously?

@underboss87 10 лет назад
Thank you for your reply. So it's about the lifestyle. I guess you must love the lifestyle (Eric) to train that much. I was asking because I might do the same - not to that degree, but just be more dedicated. There isn't much else I care about other than martial arts and family. A couple of friends. The rest is meaningless to me. Thanks again bro

An arm Triangle he used on one of the toughest and most dangerous fighters in the UFC Shane Carwin Who has only lost twice in his career (Brock being one of them & Junior Dos Santos being the other) and whose fights never went past one round! believe me dude, getting a fighter like Shane in an arm triangle is an incredible feat. Paulson's camp had everything to do with this--The coaching minds of Paulson & Greg Nelson against the mind of the likes of Greg Jackson! This is a moot point.
