My thoughts on Rolleicord IV, a medium fomat TLR camera. Been using this camera for over 2 months now so I've decided to make a little review about it. Overall a nice little TLR camera for street photography/portraits. Not a low light perfomer though.

Thanks, I just got my Rolleicord IV and am reviewing the system before taking it out shooting. I have the manual, but it's helpful to see someone use it also. Two points, first, I don't think you need to remove the back to load/unload film, it looks like there is plenty of room just to swing the back up. Second, it appears that with the double exposure switch engaged to prevent doubles, you can't work the shutter when there is no film in the camera. That was a bit confusing since the manual of course encourages you to keep it engaged (red dot covered) regularly. I'll have to remember to engage it before taking it out! I had Yashica TLRs before, very similar especially the whole loading thing, it gets easier with practice. I want to use it also for street, people are often more agreeable to being snapped if they find the camera is interesting, and you don't hold it up to your eye so you can stay engaged with the subjects. For landscapes, I'll mostly stick to my Bronica GS-1 (6x7) SLR. Cheers from Montreal!

Thanks for your thoughts. I agree with your points. TLRs are a joy to shoot with, especially street photography. It is now one of my favorite cameras.

Hello, I don't know when you uploaded this video, so hopefully if you have perused the manual you will have found the 'easy loading' technique. You need to pull out the the two side roll retainers to insert your film spools. Pull film forward and locate in takeup spool at the top. Then roll the film forward to the start mark lining up with the start arrow on the paper backing, close the back and wind on it will stop automatically at the first frame. I have this model, makes great pictures, best apertures f8/f11. A competent tech can change the screen for a much brighter one, I had a Mamiya 6x7 screen cut down and fitted. Much better in low light. Secret to their longevity is to 'exercise' it!, particularly the slow speeds. My only comment is the background music is very intrusive ,you really don't need it. Regards and keep 'shooting'.

Hello, thank you for your tips and constructive criticism. I really do like the camera (apart from taking out the used up spool). Went through the manual several times, perhaps I missed something. Gonna work on the background music sir. My best regards.

Hey man first of all the pictures are beautiful but you are doing it all wrong I have the exact same camera and the door does not need to go off at all. Secondly there’s a nob at your left hand side when you hold the camera with the door open forward down if you pull on it

I just got a Rolleicord V. Can you please explain to me how you got that nice double exposure picture? Or maybe even make a video as how to get the best double exposure pictures🙏

Cans you switch in between black and white. Nice pictures by the way.

You need to use different film depending on if you want color or black and white. Or shoot everything color and edit your scans black and white in post, but that's a lot more work.
