Mrs. Dirty have you been working out? You look great! I brought a new pair of roller skates bc of you , I never knew how to skate only the bare minimum but I looked like a fish out of water . Thanks to you I’m going in more confidence In skating and learning how to skate properly . Thanks for this tutorial can’t wait to try it out 🥰.

I love this! I have no one to do the Dowtown with so thank you! The Downtown was what got me interested in rhythm skating several years ago and I was like, "whatever that's called, I have to learn that!". I had not skated since the 80's, bought myself a pair of skates at 48 and when I tried this I could not get it down even watching many tutorials. But, your last video that broke it down differently helped me so much that I finally got it and I was so excited! Four years later, but I got it. Only thing now is not looking at my feet. I locked my wheels skating in 8th grade at the rink and took a bite out the floor so crossing the foot behind makes me a bit nervous about getting tangle up again. I'm not going to let it stop me though. Thanks Dirty for the encouragement! Now maybe I can take on the F chord on my guitar. 😄

OMG... My annual progress update is due... I went for a 4th of July Independence Day roll out with my son at dusk yesterday... Someone sitting in their driveway, waiting for the festivities to begin saw me and says, "I love your skates!". I was so happy, I said, "Yes!!! Thank you!!!!". What a confidence booster. I had images after saying that of smacking down onto the ground. But, I didn't... Instead, my son fell off his bike and his knees bit it. But I was very proud of myself!!!

These practice sessions are amazing, yes please do more! And including the music is gold!!!. So many jam skating tutorials have no music. I would love to see some rhythm skating drills or simple combos that we can practice over and over to get better at that rhythm skating flow. this is brilliant, thank you !

Hey, Mrs. Dirty....wanted to know (since you have spoken about having a heel on the skate boot versus no heel on a skate boot in another video)...If I could try this exercise in speed skates (no heel). I know it would be tougher, but I bought my speed skates about 27 years ago and I still love them, but want to feel more comfortable in trying rhythm skating.

Not trying to be negative in any way but I've never understood the attraction of Roller Dance. I love skating but for me it's always been about speed. That wonderful feeling of rolling effortlessly. Kind of like flying. Standing in one spot shuffling feet seems somewhat pointless. I've seen a lot of this on American rink skating videos. Kind of cringey. No one does it at Australian rinks. That said, I'm probably biased by my general dislike of dance in any form.

I have taught skating in Australia 5 different times. I taught dance skating and figure skating alongside derby which was my main role. I learned quite quickly that the vast majority of skaters had no experience with dance skating. They also had no idea how to just skate along to the beat of the music at session. They were all interested in skating fast though. In America, we have a long history of dancing on skates in both artistic and rhythm. So ... I taught it down under and they LOVED it! So give it chance, you may have a talent for it!
