If you were to buy the stock rocker and measured the lift of the valve you will notice that even new they don't even match the advertised ratio, so you will notice a higher liftin the aftermarket roller rockers, so the rollers are always worth it.

You are lighting up your valve train with the aluminum rockers thats good. You can get lighter push rods and titanium locks and valve retainers is good to do

Block is only honed . With standard size rings .

Its definitely hit or miss . Certain parts I dont go cheap on . Like lifters ,cam , rotating Assembly. But with other items I will test out what out there . That's just the way I do it .

Your performance gain is simply just eliminating unnecessary friction . What brand rods did you use ? How has everything held up for you ?

Actually aluminum is weaker than steel. Aluminum can wear out, get dinged up easier but that’s my 2 cents on the matter. So those are things to factor while building an engine for longevity and reliability.

Aluminum is definitely weaker than steel . Very true. It's also lighter, dissipates heat better and doesn't rust. Some of the reasons why most modern engine blocks are built out Aluminum.

So i have a 454 with the stock 1.7 stamped steel rockers. Can i install 1.8 rollees with the same push rod or would thaT need to be changed as well

That should be good .. but all you have to do is check . Once you get them mount them up and on top on the valve mark it with a dry erase marker or something and turn over the engine. The line where the contact is should be centered On the top of the valve stem

No you just get your performance out of your cam. Get a plan for your engine and stick with it mild or wild and do it right not necessarily big money but money in the right places

I'm building an lt1 and going with boost. I've heard iron heads could be better for boost on that particular engine as long as they are ported. Any info or tips you can give?

Boost will work with just about any combo . Porting the heads for better flow is always a very good way to increase air flow/hp. As for running boost .. #1. ALWAYS INCREASE YOUR RING GAP! depending on the type and expected psi. There's different ring gaps but stock is not one. A quick Google search after you decide how much ,type and size of turbo etc.. your running will get you in the safe area. #2. Must have boost control . Wastegates,bov,mechanical or electronic. Electronic is better but you must use something. #3. Reduce backpressure as much as you can. For the best gains if going with turbos.

Yeah . There's certain parts you can't go cheap on . On The Pro comp rockers I never had any mechanical issues with them. Just some sets are louder than others. Which in itself can be a problem.

Very true . Exactly the point. ! Don't have to spend top dollar to make a improvement over stock . What parts are you racing ? I'm open to my budget build vs whatever you got.

Sadly from 2030 on all combustion cars including classics will be banned from public streets in entire EU and Scandinavia :-( In Germany the Green Peoples Party gave order to shorten fuel supply from 2025 on by reducing all conventional fuel stations to only one state operated central gas station per city or county. Now they even want to slow down all the gas pumps from 20 litre per minute to 2 litre per minute...From 2027 on in the EU certain car spare parts will be banned too....as exhaust systems, turbo chargers and even some engine and gearbox oils...California and New York will do the same from 2027 on.... So no investments should be done in oil burning cars any longer....They even created a new kind of crime here, called emissions and smoke crime.
