Last time we dropped in one Steve Honnell, it was to check out his ultra rare King Cobra. This time around, we check out some of his memorabilia, a prototype Holman Moody 2 Speed rear, a pair of NASCAR cylinder heads and go for a spin in the SCJ 429 4 Speed Ranchero he's owned since new.

No matter what brand you like the most, you still have to appreciate the other brands that competed. Without competition these cars would never have become so cool. That's just the way I look at it

@SuperchiefApache
@SuperchiefApache 4 года назад
billyfromtheusa My buddy sold his for $10,000.00. That was sheet metal and rolling chassis. However, the body was minted out, painted, and ready for reassemble. Those big windows are rare, and hard to find. I’m redoing a 59 Apache, and I wish it was a big window, but I am VERY happy to have what I do have. This truck has been in my family for over 50 years, and well, it is being restored to street rod condition with a few newer and nicer upgrades

This man Steve Honnell is a treasure! Knows a lot of lived history. The people he knows is unreal, throwing out legendary names like a boss. You don't get to know all these folks without being a heavily respected man. Sharp as a tack and still living the dream. "Holman Moody's cam grinder ground me several camshafts for this..." Just wow...think about that for a minute. And he's still devilish, ..."it's a little radical but I like when it hits a lick.." PRICELESS!!!!

I've really enjoyed these recent videos. It's so nice listening to a old timer, who's been in the forefront of the muscle car wars of the 60s, talk about all that good nostalgia. Much like Uncle Tony talking about his involvement in the 5.0 Fox body legacy. Plus, all those cool old rare Fords are refreshing to see and know more about. I agree that more ppl should get to hear these kind of stories man it’s epic stuff and he’s so humbled and nonchalant lol that’s not “being humble” he for real looks at that stuff the way she look at our drag cars now he simply stood the test of time and was in position to take advantage. Has one of the if not THE rarest 9in INTHE WORLD and he just happened to take it off a pallet headed for scrap lmao u can’t make this stuff up man it’s EPIC but with so many who fall to divorces or substance abuse or just bad investments but so much of these old treasures were sold off decades ago. But he was in the position to make a successful life in the car world but post racing and made it work so he still has EVERYTHING! Man just in that garage where all the magazine articles were just in memorabilia, spare parts, tools, and whatnot he could make MILLIONS at the right auction without even touching the cars and the thought isn’t anywhere in his mind. This guy is def on my list of coolest dudes EVER and I was today years old when I learned he and I are walking the earth AT THE SAME TIME. Insane

"...which is pretty radical, but, I like one that hits a lick." Some old gearheads end up talking more about stocks and investments, gout and arthritis. This man, like Ak Miller and Ed Iskenderian, is a lifelong gearhead. I aspire to nothing more. My Dad used to tell me that one day I wouldn't be so concerned with always working on more power, more speed, and I said "yeah, once I've taken my last breath." What a dream life this guy has had, for a gearhead, and what a shop full of dreams he still has. Salute.

Thanks for another conversation with Steve and all of his stories about Ford racing. In 1970, my Dad, who still goes by Cap, was one of two engine men at Bud Moore Engineering, the year the team fielded those orange-and-black Trans-Am Mustangs. So I really appreciate all the racing stories about that era.

UT I Have to give you a little grief dont ever interupt a man with that much knowledge. He is amazing whatever stories he wishes to share are worth hearing and preserving. Thank you for saving a great piece of history. Look forward to more of him. P.S. tell Steve thanks for sharing himself and his cars with us.🔥🔥🔥😁👍👍👍👍👍👍

I’m so happy you said that he must have interrupted him 5 times. I would have loved to hear what he had to say.

Yeah his mama didn't slap his disrespectful face. I was raised to be polite and defer to a man that age. Probably missed out on some stuff. I will say he may have been nervous and excited, but?????
