You’re videos are great advertisement for the hobby, I’m a younger guy and not a lot of my generation are into cigars, I’ve been an off and on cigar smoker for the last 7 years ever since I turned 18 really. I’m afraid that hand rolling cigars is a dying art, but your videos have inspired me to start rolling my own and I’ll be ordering a kit from leaf only tobacco soon to start rolling them myself. In the meantime I’ll be soaking up your content like a sponge learning everything I can, thanks for putting your knowledge out here for us.
You're welcome. It's nice to hear I'm contributing in some small way to keeping the dying art alive. I've just recently started a series of videos where I'll roll my way through a kit.
Thanks to you, I started rolling my own cigars by watching your videos. I will get better quality leaves in my second row of leaves. Even though I received poor quality leaves, I did a good job following you. I also don't have a pressing mold for the cigar. I do this with notebook paper. After waiting for 1 day, I wrap the stuffed grapes. Great, when I started rolling my own cigars I realized why you enjoyed it so much. Thank you very much, great master.
I would also like to add that I have watched other cigar rolling videos, but since these videos are generally videos of people rolling in the factory, they are not very fast and understandable. That's why your videos are instructive, because you make extraordinary efforts to shape the cigar in your hand into the perfect shape.
Thanks for the nice comments. It's great to hear you were able to roll by watching my videos. Maybe some day you'll get a mold when you have an idea about some particular size you like a lot. I do try to make it as clear as possible how to roll a cigar, since it is often, as you said, difficult to see what's going on in factory roller videos. I hope you're able to find some better leaf.
So i saw your other video that seems to have gone viral and that one convinced me to subscribe as its motivating me to pick up rolling cigars as a hobby. After these past two videos its made me want to support and join as it alao helped me realize i can even more fully invest myself into it as i also roll blunts and smoke too and after seeing all this i cant wait to smoke that first amazing cigar blunt from this journey!!!!
Awesome video! As of yesterday, I planted some tobacco seeds I got from Victory seeds website. I got Havana seeds, golden burley, and Connecticut shade for the wrapper. Do you think this blend will create a decent cigar? I know it's gonna take a while before getting started rolling as I have to grow the tobacco then cure, ferment, and age it. I look forward to the process though! Good video you earned yourself a new sub!
Have you considered taping the measuring tape to the side of the cutter, or perhaps scribing 1” marks into where you put the cigars, so you always have the measurement?
Great idea, but no. Because everything about this is a meditative process for me, including bringing out the tape and doing the measurements. I want to do more while rolling, not less. This is my great pleasure in life.
No presses in my videos, but if you're asking about the molds, they range from around 30-60 years old, on average. Presses are big metal things that squeeze the molds.
Hi, I'm passionate about cigars and I would like to try to make some at home, I found the dried leaves but I can't find the tools for making the cigar (chaveta, casquillo guillotina, dima), where could I find these tools?
The only retail places I know of our wholeleaftobacco.com, leafonly.com, and totalleafsupply.com. I don't know the quality of their leaf, but they are the only retail places I know about.
I’m thinking about starting to roll my own cigars since they’re getting too existence for my budget. Do you have any recommendations on how to find the necessary tools and tips for a beginner roller?
Not to step on Bliss' toes by offering an answer, but I just recently began rolling myself. First thing I suggest is watching ALL of his videos for a while before you start actually rolling yourself. They have been instrumental in my success. There are really only two sources of tobacco I would recommend- Whole Leaf Tobacco and Leaf Only, both also sell tools, but you can improvise with pizza cutters and paper molds at first. Good luck! Not only is it money saving, but fun and therapeutic. I'm hooked and will probably never buy a commercially made cigar again.
Absolutely I agree. Leaf is just where I get all the tools and leaves. The price is more affordable and fun. I haven't purchased a pre-rolled cigar since that day.@@mathewmikolas1492
@@Eric-dd8bk Often, if the cigar has not been allowed to rest long enough, dry out, it will give an acrid, ammonia-like flavor. Try letting them sit out in the open for a week, then put them in the humidor for at least a couple of weeks. Should see a big difference.
I didn't make it. Most of my molds are probably 50+ years old. I find them on Ebay, Etsy, or in various cigar factories, many of whom switched from wood to plastic and sold off some of their wood molds.
@@steven__bills1011 I have used many, both pro ones and ones some random guy 3d prints and sends to me. Some are great, some suck. I currently have about 6 plastics and 20 woods. Besides lasting longer, plastic might make for a smoother bunch. Otoh it doesn't wick moisture and might take days to get the bunch into shape. Some people like me just prefer the way wood seems to work.
