There was a Nyjah documentary that was planned for release right after the Olympics if he won or medaled. He unfortunately did not medal so the Ty Evans doc never was released but his Shine On part was supposed to be with that doc. Would really like to to see that and hope they complete it at some point. Maybe extend it until his retirement so we see all his achievements! Definitely need more docs on top skaters because many are interesting dudes (Evan Smith, Yuto, Decenzo, etc.).
I don’t even skate anymore, but watching skate videos really make me feel alive. The passion is so pure, and there’s nothing like skating with the homies all day. Makes me want to get back out there
Then get back out there. You are either 100% skateboarder or you're not. I'm in my 50's and started skateboarding in 1977. With no breaks. End your break my man.
I 100% agree bro. I started skating at 5 and it was the funnest thing ever! Tore some cartilage at 19 and had to stop skating. Thought about getting back out there and then tore cartilage in my other knee at 22 and doctors said I couldn’t even run or jump off things. Really don’t wanna risk it but life got a lot less fun and happy after not being able to skate. I still watch the videos too
Ahh the joy of anonymous men telling anonymous men what to do...no wait what they MUST do involving their own old bodies and a fucking "useless wooden toy"
He was our generations skater. 2000”s we’re peak skating . We grew up with these guys . Schekler , nyjah Houston, Chris cole, Andrew Reynolds’s , Eric koston, Deawon song , p rod, Sean malto, Kevin spanky ect ect
@@APR702Nah. My Generation as a 1990 Born Product was the Original Crews, the OJ Tony Hawk Games Cast and the more famous Videos. Sheckler and the rest came along when we were already in high school. His Heroes were Our Heros rather than him. He's more the Hero of the kids born in the late 90s. Millennials have an Insane Split. Born Pre-95 and Post-95 had such an insanely different upbringing. It's two generations slammed together really due to technology advancing exponentially. For the post 95 Millennials, sure Sheckler was popular when they were at the right ages. But Pre-95 it was the OG 90s Skaters. I respect the hell out of Sheckler and he's 5 months older than me so same ages....but we were going to the same Summer Skate Camps at YMCA watching the same classic skate videos back then so he wasn't a Hero. Nyjah also has always been pretty controversial so doubt he was many people's heros.
...how tf is Sal the same age he was in '99? but fr I'm beyond happy that Sheck is finally getting his flowers as of late. When you look past the cameras and limelight, he has never stopped pushing, going bigger, and facilitating the next generation having more access and getting better faster with his Sandlot Times projects. He's a legend.
Sal hasn't changed a Oz remaining relevant throughout countless contractual broadcasting changes and platforms, myself being born in 95 his hype echoes in my mind as i witnessed every proverbial wall of action sports decimated. Ryan is a hammer glad to see this invigorating footie and the full circle transition to a bona-fide apostle of kick push
anybody getting into skating recently like myself missed the drama of his lie and just see his clips so he’s easy to look up to. especially bc he seems so humble and easy going it seems
I think it was summer 2001. I was at Woodward Pennsylvania week 11. You were so little and so good. Your mom gave me a bunch of free volcom shit. And your litttle brother shane was already so good also. I used to love going to Woodward skate camp. I still skate weekly at age 36. Thank you for all you have done for skateboarding throughout all the years. You are a legend.
I've never been a "fan" of Sheckler, but also never a hater. I just didn't really care. That was a long time ago. Now I'm getting old too. Watching this... what a beast he is!!! Watched the whole thing. Utmost respect. This was amazing.
I feel the same exact way. Thank you for putting this into words. Ryan Sheckler is a true legend. Thankful to be around to witness his history in the making.
Ryan is a legend, grew up watching him and when he landed that last trick I know it felt so fucking good to have everyone cheering and the cars honking, Ryan deserves all the flowers while he’s here.. definitely one of the greatest ever
I feel the exact same way dude I remember watching His first part when I was 11 thinking wow I’m Ollied a 8 set I was so happy hahaa he definitely inspired me as a kid !
As a kid I remember catching every episode of life of Ryan as well as Rob & Big and every time the episode would end I would be so inspired to get outside in my board and just go as hard as I could. Man take me back to those days and that feeling . RIP BIG
This was the best 47 minutes I've spent in so long. I grew up watching you guys skate. Well into my 30s now and still am inspired by these amazing skaters. One love y'all!
20 years ago I was skating every day after school with my brother. The guys in this video... they were the names we saw in video games, magazines and skate vids. At 17 I never fully grasped the drive, toughness and athleticism it takes to skate professionally. Now at 37 it's hard to watch Ryan and all these guys sustaining these injuries for the passion of the sport. Great doc. If I ever meet any of these dudes it'll be a handshake and a beer on me.
There was some talk about Ryan/Tony being mainstream skaters not accepted by "real street rat" boarders but Geoff Rowley is the other end of that spectrum and the hug at the end can only be described as pure blood brotherhood... love for everyone in this video, everyone watching it, and every skater soul on earth
Same people that hate on Ryan are the same kinda people that hate on Nyjah as well; I just can't take them seriously. All the people that get hate are famous and have money. With that kind of money they never have to step on a skateboard again, but they do it and they push themselves and are subjected to massive injuries for the love the skateboarding. If you love skateboarding and dedicate your life to it, your a real skater; period.
Ryan shecklers description on what is skateboarding, is so accurate! We are the best community ever in this totally fucked up world! Thank you skateboarding!
This is it. He was already "unofficially" a legend but with this part there is no one who could ever deny it. Ryan shecklers is officially in skateboarding HOF. What a fckkkn gnarly part. You can rest now ryan. You've officially slammed, dead bolted and chained the door on any remaining haters. Would be fckn rad to see you qual for a couple SLS finals too. Or just catch you in some prelim footage. You're the man bro.
Shecks has been in the prelims of SLS this year so that’s great to see. He’s put down a few hammers but I doubt he still has it in him to qualify. I remember early SLS days (2nd or 3rd year) when Shecks was competing with Nyjah for wins. He was really close to winning one which very few skaters can say. That full cab flip off the hip to drop is one of most legendary contest tricks ever! Dude is so fun to watch, similar to Joslin. Speed, energy, big and the crowd loves him.
ryan is that dude. I remember as a kid seeming him in sports illustrated for kids and just thinking how cool he was. then as I got older learning how hated he was, I just never understood it cuz everything I saw was him just nailing every trick. I'm glad he's found how to happy
One of the gnarliest dudes to ever walk the planet. And he acts like he just some regular guy. . Seen him once in San diego Ca and all I could do is walk past and say, "hey ryan" like super quick and didn't turn back cause I didn't want to draw attention to him
Such a good watch, Sheckler is one of the GOATs for sure. Love him or hate him, there's no denying it. Side note - Love how much of a gentleman Rowley is. When the definition of gnar is speaking highly of you, bringing your board for you and running to you for a hug after sticking the make, you know you're rated in the skate world.
As a kid I was scared of a lot of things until I started skateboarding. I got better and went bigger and fear was a different thing. It became something I could conquer. I didn’t fear bullies because the concrete hit way harder then they could. It taught a high amount of perseverance and achievement I never knew. Skateboarding shaped who I am today and I highly recommend it. Outside of breaking my tibia and fibula on two separate occasions it gave me more than it took from me.
Ryan Sheckler is a monster. I'm from Brazil and I've been following him since 2006 when I started skating and I bought my first dvd which was almost round 3 and since then I've never stopped following his trajectory. This documentary is one of the best I've seen about skateboarders. I'm a big fan. One of the best skaters of all time. Legend 🔥🔥🔥
Skateboarding is definitely akin to a drug. Even after watching video parts, i vicariously experience the fear and bliss that comes from someone doing something gnarly, but then quickly want to see more. Skateboarding is one of the most mentally and physically challenging sports ever. That heing said, it is endlessly rewarding.
I’ll never forget being 12/15. My cousin shelby was obsessed with skating & i loved it. I always hyped her up to start skating as a girl & we became real close over it. Then sheckler blew up. She’d come over every weekend and we’d spend 10 hours alllll day skating. I remember being able to do all shuv-it variations but she could nollie really good and we both were jealous of it. Pvc rails. We both had sheckler decks and watched all his clips with nyjah too. She printed out every sheckler deck in real size, taped all the papers together and made a huge sheckler deck collage for me. 4x4’. Sheckler was like a older brother to us. 🙌🏼
Hell yeah makes me so happy and emotional nobody in skateboarding deserves this more then Ryan a goat a legend and a skateboarder ❤️ thanks for sharing your heart bro
I sitll as a skateboarder of 20 years still cant handle watching that Face Melters crash. Shecks is still one of the best out there doing it. And I'm so hyped on this vidoe part. Keep shredding Sheckler!!! Much love and respect.
I'm an Encinitas local born and raised... This is the first RU-vid comment I have ever left... I met Sheckler skating King Sessions at Moonlight parking lot IFYKYK and all I have to say is he is a fucking legend in the world of skateboarding and that spot is gnarlier than anyone would ever imagine when you see it in person. It's a spot you see when you get your first target board at 5 years old and think " damn that would be sick to skate" and this dude threw the heaviest trick down it in all its history. Thank you for skateboarding Ryan Sheckler!
Ryan you’ve always been the man always will be. Change one person or one persons perspective you’ve changed someone else’s world. What more could you do.
48 years young, and I'm still progressing at skateboarding. Still pushing my limits. Still inspiring others to improve. Still hanging with the homies. Still loving the pain with the gain. This film has inspired me to push even further along. Keep pushing, brothers and sisters. Keep pushing onward and forward.
I can't forget me as a teenage boy seeing this young man jumping off big stairs as it was just nothing and get some much courage and inspiration to ollie the sidewalk 50 cm's out of my house . Thank you so much Ryan.
Broke my ankle while riding a about a month ago and it has tone the toughest thing I’ve ever gone thru. This has gave me so much motivation to recover and become better. This has to be one of the greatest documentaries I’ve ever watched.
Been a great time watching The Nine Club promote this and get to tune into Ryans world! congrats everyone! Loved having this documentary to follow right behind the new LIFER part! soak it up Ryan
That was bad ass. I'm 46 years old and fell in love with skateboarding as a young kid. Even though I haven't skated for years it's still in my blood. Videos like this bring back the magic feeling of what it is to be a SKATER!
No doubt this dude is special. I pray for his body to heal and be protected from the damage it has taken over the years. It adds up with age and getting older is no joke. We need him healthy and around for a long time to come but of course not nearly as much as his beautiful young family does and will. Stay healthy from here on out Ryan. You've more than earned the right.
Mad respect to this man. Been watching his parts for almost 20 years, did not expect him to put a new one out. He's already accomplished greatness in this sport. Just shows how much passion he has for skateboarding.
I am turning 28 in a couple months. All my life I've been amazed by those guys who inspired me to start skating when i was a kid. Thank you for everything ♥
The quality of this video... unreal. Very moved by this as I sit here with my knee brace on, minor LCL injury from doing the simplest things at a park. We need more videos like this! Ryan is an absolute beast! Skateboarders are insane - to go after life to the fullest, that is what I see. For you Ryan - John 10:10. Well done and keep rolling away!
Ryan was ALWAYS that one kid EVERYONE hated on but always wanted to be 🛹 Congrats Ryan glad to see ya back on your board an killin it like you ALWAYS have! Amazing video 🤙🏻
I've been skateboarding and (mostly now) just watching skate videos for the last 28 years of my life and that's honestly the best piece of video I've ever seen. What a legend.
I first was inspired by Ryan in Melbourne, Australia at the Globe World Cup back in the day, I still have the tiny deck signed by him with me today. An incredible story, an incredible human. A true artist in his craft. Epic doco.
Ryan is goated. Such a strong dude. Always been inspired by him, though older. It's a shame how people have treated him over the years. Glad he's the fighter he is, we need more of that.
Had the opportunity to watch him boardslide this long gnarly handrail here in Miami , his perseverance is like nobody else , I can see how he’s still going , Ryan is skateboarding, what the world expects of skating nowadays is Ryan’s skating, much love Ryan!!❤
The kid can take some pain that's for sure! Really difficult to recover and maintain that same energy for a video part but he managed to make it happen! GOAT at dropping hammers.
I just now seen this for the first as a man who doesnt skate anymore im very proud of sheckler and how far he has come from all the b.s. people said back in the day. I was one of em for sure. Glad to see this man grow with skateboarding
Best way I could put it as an old skateboarder is Sheck's sold out and then bought back in and showed he's in it for skateboarding for real. Good Story arc, glad to see him doing the real thing we call skateboarding and representing it.
@@zmohan69 Now a days I agree with you but back in the day "selling out" was shunned by skaters. Society looked down on skaters so hard that it felt wrong to enter their mainstream circles, so Life of Ryan or whatever the show was called soured some feelings in that time era.
Ryan Sheckler is a legendary skateboarder I've been following him for a few years he is a skate warrior taking so many bails and falls but he keeps getting back up so inspirational not just for skateboarding but for life to never give up
Never knew he had so much hate from people when he was growning up. Sheckler has ALWAYS been a legend in my books. Always inspired me to shred big gaps when I was growing up myself. Being 14 dominating Men’s competition 🔥
The skaters who have gotten mega fame Sheckler, Hawk, Nyjah did some of the gnarliest stuff after they had enough money where they could just chill back. They don't though, because they are real skaters that chase that rush and want/need to progress to be happy. That's true passion and love for their craft and it should always be highlighted and praised. This is a great piece. Made me wanna skate right now!
Anything that does with sheckler I’m all over it, this man has been my fav skater since I was a kid, thank you Tony hawks proving ground, the game that introduced me to this kid, ry has came so far,
I spent 2 & 1/2 years on a board before fate dealt me an injury that sent me down another path. That was almost 20years ago but I still think about it and still miss it. Those are some of the 1st memories of accomplishing an impossible feat and building bonds with fellow skaters. I envy people like Ryan who are so talented on the board and have been doing it for so long. I can relate to the pain and the mental trauma of getting back on the board after surgery and how your brain wants to prevent you from going through another injury but your heart wants you to keep going. I see the talent and how far it's progressed and it blows my mind. For those of you how are in it man enjoy every bit of it.
I started skating in 1999 when I was 9. I got to the point where I tapped out after a 10 set. I didn’t have it in me to continue. Injuries pile up and you have to make a decision to either mellow out or go harder knowing you’ll get slammed soon or later. And when the inevitable happens it will always be in the back of your mind. These guys and the new generation doing bigger and crazier things is absolutely insane and incredible. I’m around the same age as Ryan and this guy is still going pushing the limits of skating. I love how this documentary explains the mental fortitude it takes. The constant failures to get that one land. Incredible piece thank you!
This video puts skateboarding into the truest perspective with the trials, errors involved, to learn & land a trick. I'll be 50 this year, and still have the drive to get out and skate, although I stick to easy tricks I know I can land, but there's nothing else like it.
This dude has deserved this because he's put in so much work. I'm really glad that he's found inner peace and motivation. Like he can handle anything life throws at him. He truly deserves that. (At 31 i fully ruptured my ACL too & needed a donor ligament replacement. I haven't been able to skate/run etc. Since.) So im beyond happy, proud & respect you dude. Keep up the greatness.
Ryan you still are the man bro I remember seeing him when he was a kid and then I wanted to be like him I quit skating I’m a father at 31 years old and I still love to watch him skate i appreciate you Ryan!
What an absolute tank of a human physically and mentally. Last part was incredible, this documentary is a true showing of what goes into being a skateboarder.
Ryan is such an insanely talented skater definitely one of the best and most influential skaters of all time and his last part was soooooooo unbelievably amazing and that tail drop was one of those tricks that will forever be one of the greatest biggest and most dangerous tricks done in the street and he made it look so easy and like P-Rod said it could have so easily went the other way and ended his life. What a legend
I'm 39 years old now, and I have to admit that I was one of the haters back when he came up with all the MTV stuff and ripping through contests. But man, he has my respect dude. This guy is a beast! And his style is undeniable! Every trick he does is so clean it's insane! Big up Ryan! Edit: True skateboarding legend IMO! Love you Ryan!
I got to skate with ryan an pj ladd at plan B demo at the vans Orlando park at the time. Ryan was nice an humble. He introduced me to him. Hey man I'm Ryan... Truly a great dude
