Load the swan with seven balls, and there it is, ready to lay its precious eggs.
When you press the lever, the first ball is let loose. It rolls down the copper tracks and lands neatly in the waiting nest.
As it goes, it sets off the release of the next ball.
Hope you like the video 🙂 and thanks a lot for finding me here in this little corner of the internet.

Hi Ian, Speaking as someone who also tinkers with soldered copper wire - I make Puppets and some masks - I think your sculptures are gorgeous! However, if you’re looking for feedback, I can see a couple areas that you might tinker with and expand your repertoire: The first is doing more forged elements, as in using a ball-peen hammer to give texture and character to specific pieces of metal. I noticed this, particularly on the switch for your swan, where you have spiraled the copper into a press pad. You could consider taking another step and peening a texture into that spiral, which after polishing, would add extra character and catch the light. The second, which is actually easier, would be to begin incorporating other gauges of copper. You’ve stated in a previous video that you use two millimeter copper wire and it seems a shame not to begin incorporating 0.5, 1, 3, 4, and 4.5 mm wires as well. These would end up, adding texture and interest. Perhaps a jewelry quality to the work by wrapping support posts or other structures that don’t interfere with the ball movement. Finally, I think your supports are great, but perhaps a tad utilitarian. The way the support branches work reminds me a bit of the trees, drawn by the background artist, Eyvind Earle, for the Disney animated *Sleeping Beauty.* You may have seen these before, or if not, please google them because they are quite gorgeous. Adding a few superfluous branches to your supports can add a large amount of interest to the sculpture. Of course, your sculptures are quite good as they are! Please don’t feel that any of this is criticism! I only bring it up because I find myself becoming bored, personally, in my own work. Once I have reached a certain skill level with my work and looking for areas where I can add new challenges. This seems like a great opportunity for you to expand beyond your previous approaches and inject new excitement into your projects. I have subscribed, so I look forward to whatever you post, regardless of whether you take any of my suggestions. Every artist has their own aesthetics and path and it may be the case that none of my suggestions feel appropriate. I’m happy to see whatever you produce!

Beautiful design. Any thoughts of adding a solar panel to power a small motor and use a helical tower to reload mother goose automatically when the sun is shining. Wishing you a great day. Peace brother

Thanks for the idea. This isn’t an outdoor sculpture, I just filmed it by a river so the solar panel wouldn’t work. Some of my other sculptures do use an electric motor to continuously lift the balls. Cheers for the comment! 👍👍

Hi, Ian, I have an idea which may help you sell more of your amazing sculptures 'across the pond'... Get a slightly oversized box, line with tissue paper or saran wrap (not sure what you would call it, possibly plastic wrap?) Spray some home improvement LOW EXPANSION canned foam in the box- about 2-5cm or so. Lay a layer of wrap over that, gently place your sculpture on this, and slightly inset it in. Once the foam has hardened, drape a layer of wrap over the top of the sculpture, with the 2 layers of wrap touching along the perimeter of the box. Spray another layer of the low expansion foam over this and a sheet of wrap over that. Close the box to contain the expansion, but do not seal too tightly - possibly scotch tape, so it can pop open if you were too generous with the foam. Allow this to cure, open the box, and check for damage, then use wadded tissue paper in delicate areas in the center of the sculpture. Repack the foam, sculpture, paper packing, and foam back in the box, use strong shipping tape, and mail it directly to me. I'll check to make sure it arrives at the West Coast of the USA and let you know how you did, no charge for my services. 😊 If it's damaged, my idea was flawed, I'll accept the broken sculpture as my fault and repair it best as I can. 😢 If it's not damaged, I'll accept the sculpture as my idea works, and you may continue shipping me as many as you'd like, no charge for my help. 😂 I'm such a generous person; you're so lucky to have SUBs like me on your channel! It boggles the mind what I'm willing to do for a complete stranger, just to support their art! 😊 Okay, so I went off the (copper) rails about 1/2 way thru there, but I still gotta say, the first half was serious, as I've received a LOT of delicate equipment that way, my last two 3D printers specifically, and my mother in laws fine China lastly. Consider trying it, you could sell a lot of your sculptures to us Yanks; we love handmade art from Jolly 'Ol!
