Exile on Main Street is my favorite record of all time. I think its in the top 3 off all time too. The stones at their absolute peak firing on all cylinders.

I ain't even a hardcore Stones fan. More of a Stooges fan. But Exile and Let It Bleed are definitely two of the five albums I'd have on a desert island (with a record player and generator)

In my opinion this is the best Stones record in the Mick Taylor stage. I was young, I was delighted with the Stones after "(I Can not Get No") Satisfaction from 1965 ... souvenirs 1971 good memories

I love how the stones where HUGE in 1972 but proudly never let go the american roots music so this album sounded like a totally un commercial album by that time...as say pink floyd or the glam movement. The stones where NOT ashamed by that even though they where mega stars

more music fans need to notice this as well. The stones really had a revolutionary blending sound of early American swing, rockabilly, country, folk, blues, and funk music that most people overlook when they discount the stones as just an average stadium rock band.

I was asked of Keith Richards to go there whith him and Anita and the baby as I was a mothers helper in Chichester in Red Lands just before they left. I Must say now then i hear and see this video of this good Music and that they are Pop Icons in action in Villa Nellcote Villefranches they send electriques waves. I had that flexi disc. Had to put a 10p piece on it to hold it down while it played. It was the only Stones record I owned untill about 1980.

If my memory serves me,the B side was two tracks,one by Curved Air and one by Fanny.Other NME flexis around that time were Slick Black Limousine (Alice Cooper),Brain Salad Surgery (Emerson,Lake,And and Palmer) and Dishevelment blues (The Faces).There is also a Slade / Mike Hugg one in my collection,but I think that was from another magazine,Sounds perhaps.

I got it at the time, then years later on eBay. They started giving away actual vinyl 4-track eps in the Eighties too - I remember one with an orange label that had Mantronix and Miles Davis on it (each ep had four different artists).

To promote Exile they put this flaccid ep in New Musical Express. The funny thing is tha I never 4gett this hymn from "exile on main street the place street you come down...." I heard it some times at my friends big syster and it just got stocked ( I was eleven ----

I was on a train with the videographer that recorded this footage. On the way to the first of 3 shows of the licks tour in Boston. What a conversation. I would have killed to have been there. 4 am jam sessions, jammed off your socks with pure r&r pumping through your ears and veins. Great show too. Almost did all 3. Stadium, arena and smaller venue. Went to 2. Met Charlie and bought a drink for Keith and Ronnie's wives before the 3rd. Just one of my adventures.

We will never see another Rolling Stones , with the state of today's music and the manufactured shit they make and the talentless clowns they try to shove in our faces. Long live the Rolling Stones, best band of all time , they defined rock n roll and everything we know of it.

I remember receiving this flexi-disc with my copy of NME. I always thought that this also included some cuts from Fanny - or was that separate? I also remember the Curved Air one (cuts from Phantasmagoria).

@@jammingedward664 Shows how good my memory is. I thought I remembered them being one-sided. Funnily enough, I never bought Exile, but I did buy - and still own - both Phantasmagoria and Fanny Hill!
