All down the line is superior during the Taylor years. Not even close when Woody gives it a go for the past 50 yrs. Love ya Woody but this is my all time favorite live Rolling Stones song.

STP.. Stones Touring Party (Greenfield book)... In these years, between 1969 and 1973, they were completely genuine, wild rock band, no bullshit, spontaneous, great records, great stories, no stadium concerts, the Greatest Rock & Roll Band in the World really started from these unbelievable years.. And the tongue logo also (1970 with Sticky Fingers)... They became the Giant they are starting from these years.. To the great design big stages (Mark Fisher) in big stadiums or fields, with Great Shows

I worked at this gig for Bill Graham security outside ticket sales. when I saw the show I was Center floor fairly well back almost to the middle Mick Taylor was louder than everybody and when I walked around he still drowned out everybody in The Forum except Jagger and Nicky Hopkins. Taylor just dominated that show and contributed to my tinnitus. That was the last concert he played in the continental United States in the Rolling Stones they went on to Hawaii after this and did a few shows and then that's it for the states Taylor & the stones.. I admire Mick Taylor to this day .... 💖💪

Taylor's guitar playing here is as close to perfect as you will ever enjoy or hear. Disregard the comments below from the Ronnie Wood fans. They are so far off the mark it is unbelievable. Some folks listen not with their ears, but with their @ss.
@dandelion6760
@dandelion6760 8 лет назад
Yes...agree... Mick Taylor is the glue holding it all together , too. Sure , his guitar playing is to the fore here , but that's more because of the source recording - recorded near his set up on stage ? The comments from the Ron Wood 'fan' who slated Taylor's guitar playing as 'annoying' are to be expected from someone who's head is probably permanently stuck listening to Love You Live , the mother of all awful Ron Wood era Stones live recordings..
@dandelion6760
@dandelion6760 8 лет назад
The comments/jibes , too , about Mick Taylor playing 'repetitive licks' are a little harsh... so what if he allegedly played 'repetitive licks' (not to me he doesn't)... I'd rather hear him playing that way , than enduring Ron Woods weedy , dreary guitar playing/sound.. I can't stand to hear the band with him in it.

James Crow I will always be a Brian Jones era Stones fan first, but the Stones from 72-73 were the best version as a live act. The 73 European dates a few months after this show just kick butt with Mick Taylor playing some pretty damn brilliant guitar. I like Ron Wood in The Faces, but not so much in The Rolling Stones.

Like 99% of these other commenters below, I AM NOT a professional musician. And I will not try to portray myself as one. Although I AM A DIEHARD STONES FAN and will comment only MY OPINION as a fan. The only thing to compare Ronnie Wood & Mick Taylor with is both being guitarist in the band, PERIOD. All though like countless other Stones fans I also think 69 to 74 was undeniably their strongest period of music & live performances. I mean Cmon It’s so very obvious on the Ladies & Gentleman movie/soundtrack that represented the 72/73 Tour. They were at the top of their musical career. Now with that said, Black & Blue is in MY top 3 favorite Stones albums, mainly because it was a little different then other stuff, that reggae ish feel & who can deny Memory Motel as one of their strongest ballads??!!!!! So people we’re all Stones fans, at least I know I am, just think their still going strong & Ronnie has stood the longest. That’s gotta say something!!!

@dugitomi I have heard all the Bootlegs you speak of. After the STP The band recorded Goats in Jamiaca & then took a break. (Keith was almost dead!! In january '73 this was the Show that got them fired up again for '73. I know how good the '73 shows are don't worry. But the sound and arrangements were quite different to STP '72, and this was the gig that kicked it all off....Next stop Australia.

@MrStones1963 ...the individual songs I posted were off the boot "the complete 73 affair" which had the Vienna concert plus highlights from other shows. The LA recordings were part of those highlights and were ( I guess) remastered, somehow, to sound better. My copy of "All Meat Music" bootleg seems to have vinyl as it's source (hence the popping). It would be great if somneone released the remastered "All Meat Music"! ---Sorry I took so long to reply :)
@dugitomi
@dugitomi 13 лет назад
@demonsbutterfly thanks for the information. it's fun to learn about the nuances and details related to that stellar time. i did something about Mr. Richards being 'worn down' after STP '72. That's a good point about 'warming up for Australia' because i do hear a bit of a different ambience to their sound in the Australia concerts and the European concerts in '73. I think their best-ever performance of Rocks Off was in Australia '73, Sydney I think. The 10:51 ycagwyw in Brussels is transcendent.

These Stones concerts, with Mick Taylor guitar Solos, had his time... Great years but after 76 out of time.. In Black & Blue (Great album with Disco, Rock, slows, etc) was chose the best fit, Ron Wood (between Wayne Perkings, Harvey Mandel, Rory Gallagher, the guitarist of Natural Gas, Peter Frampton, etc).. Time of Punk and New Wave music.. New teen generation don't care about great solos, Some Girls is a punk record with Miss You Disco, after Emotional Rescue and the Top was Tattoo You, straight and simple.. 81/82 tour with the new songs.. Begin in 78...They adapt to times, and sincerely Ron Wood fits much better with the Stones, on stage, with crew, great Keith friend, same life style, etc.. Taylor was a wonderful player, but it was in that time... Early 70's.. In lately concerts as a guest his sound isn't absolutely the same... I really don't see him on stage playing with them in 78, 81/82...And very diferent concerts in songs, not the oldies goldies.. They were in a completely new wave... In 89/90 after the "battle" ( Thank you Keith for your records and the Winos), they return with oldies in a new shape.. And great big and huge tours... Financial was wonderful for them.. Nowadays don't know if they are a real rock band or a big company.. But good for them, they are a trade mark now, shop in London, the tougue is everywhere in the world... Yeap, there's the sun, the moon and the Stones.. It's a worldwide institution..! 👍👌🎸🎸

You had previously posted 5 songs from this show individually. These were the songs that were rarely performed live during this era. The sound quality of "Route 66" posted earlier was much better (and in stereo) than the version contained in this post of the full show. I even hear "pops" from time to time as if this posting of the full show had come from vinyl. Do you have a cleaner version of the full show?

@demonsbutterfly i did read something about Mr. Richards being a bit 'tired' after the tour thru the states in '72. But it's amazing watching them in my pirated copy of Ladies and Gentleman, The Rolling Stones. I enjoy it because it's a fantastic performance but also because those bogus pimps at eaglerocktv got not one yen from me. they had all the vids of that tour removed from youtube right before they re-released that classic film. it should be public domain because it's our history.

+Randy Karr - Absolutely! Santana (with Carlos Santana playing) until their equipment fried... Cheech & Chong followed with some gross but hilarious stuff they could never do on an album, and then the Stones played for 2 hours putting on a show that this album cannot do justice to but I'm grateful it's posted here. So that exists even though I cannot find it on the internet anywhere. By the time I rigged up my tape recorder I only caught the last minute or so. I have even seen arguments as to whether or not the song was played at all. I bought this All-Meat album, too, and it is long-trashed :-).

@demonsbutterfly they're fucking hot right here. their 'warming up' was before the first date of STP usa '72 and they were amazing all the way thru the European leg of the STP '73. Listen to the Brussels, Rotterdam and Birmingham concerts. Incredible that they could sustain the kind of intensity tightness, and kick ass rock and roll for nearly 2 years with no real break. but nothing compared to the dues they paid from '63 thru '65 to be the greatest. warming up before Australia? that's funny.

Have owned this 2-lp vinyl album for years. Think I paid $7.00 for it new...lol. How about William Stout's artwork here? Check out interview with Stout about his cover art days, below. "In Like Flynn - Out like Stout!" Dig it! www.williamstout.com/news/journal/?p=2591

Please someone edit out that annoying clapping this absolutely ruins the live recording the clapping event is painful to listen to

this was recorded on a tape player everything is recorded on one track and impossible to edit out.. why take it out? all live recording has audience sounds on them.. it adds to the live experience otherwise it would sound like a studio record.. i gotta see how you feel being at a live show.. try getting the audience to stop their noise haha they would be hurling their beer cans in your face and tell ya to go F- Off lol if you dislike audience sounds so much, avoid clicking on anything live avoid attending all live shows and listen to only studio recordings ok? (eyeroll) ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Ronnie was a great grab for The Stones . at a time kinda like when Bryan was let go . But Mick Taylor probably wouldnt have made it much longer with that band .Too much candy around . in the end he made a wise move.

Mick Taylor wasn't really a stone like Brian and Ronnie's. It's more than playing its a lifestyle and you have to be able to live with them.
