I've said it before and I'll now say it again. Mick Taylor performed some of the greatest guitar solos EVER heard in rock music during the '72 and '73 Stones tours. His name should always be mentioned when discussing or rating the greatest guitarists in rock music because he is right up there with the very best of them(yes, even Hendrix) imo.

Ladies & Gentlemen you are listening to some of the BEST LIVE concert footage ever produced from the world's GREATEST rock n roll band; The Rolling Stones. This was The Rolling Stones at their very best IMO. They were on fire CRANKING it to the maximum. Goodness only knows if this isn't THEE best live concert they ever performed. Damn it, it is simply stunning. Maybe they were playing so well because the Vietnam War had ended and all American combat troops left, who knows.

Mick Taylor delivers it like the postman - I like his playing on the '73 shows better than any of the others

Mick Taylor's performance is particularly audible on this recording, indeed! It sounds as great as a Jimi Hendrix or as an Albert King gig to me. Thanks a lot for sharing ;)

There are several reasons why the Stones were a better band during the Mick Taylor era (1969-74), but mainly for the contrast of his fluid tone over Keith's slash & burn rhythm. Ronnie is a great multi-instrumentalist, and Brian bled The Blues, but Mick Taylor had the Tone, which is in strong evidence on this live recording. Note the lack of Bobby Keys on sax here. He had been fired for missing the September 30th gig in Frankfurt ~ found passed out in his champagne-filled bathtub back at the hotel. Missing the gig was bad enough, but the bill for the Dom Perignon far exceeded Bobby's wages for the entire tour. It was a bit too much for Jagger to overlook. Keys wasn't fully reinstated until the 1982 European Tour.

well said - could not agree with you more - the Stones were never the same (musically) after his departure, although Ron Wood's persona was a much better fit for the band than Mick Taylor's - but his playing isn't worth talking about comparitavely speaking

The giant-size, gaping, monstrous, awful Cut in Midnight Rambler is unforgiveable. The tapes this CD was produced from, does Not have a cut in Midnight Rambler.!!! This is one of the Very Best versions of the song -- in a grand European Tour during September - October of 1973. The taper(s) who captured both Rotterdam shows has complete tapes of both show in their entirety. Let the Japanese fellow have the tapes so they can be heard in all of their glory.

Big Mike Taylor with his beautiful tone, not to do with that drugged / drunk Keit. Great taylor ahead without the Rolling.
