I knew I wasn’t the only one trying to figure how to use my drill instead of the stupid ball winder everyone complains about tangling😂😂. I already have all the tools I need for this hallelujah more money for yarn instead…
I want them to be little balls so they take up less space in my yarn basket. The crochet weight yarn with the big cardboard tubes take up so much space! I just got myself a brand new power drill, and I have stainless steel chopsticks for cooking in my kitchen, I bet I could use this technique to shape them in balls and then just slide them right off. 😎 Hand winding balls takes way too darn long!
Would this work for plying two yarns together, like art yarn? Just wondering cause yesterday I got my Dremel tool too close to the fringe on a weaving project. It spun the yarns together! Don't know if it would work if I actually intended it, though. The plies would likely be irregular, but so are some very pricey handspun art yarns.
I've not done it again. But in Texas right now it's too hot for me to be knitting or crocheting. Sewing and selling masks has been my recent thing to be doing.
If you put 2 pieces of tape on each end it would prevent the yarn from going past them. Put the tape around the dowel and also the ends together to create a barrier at each end. It also allows you to have a center pull end.
