UPDATE 2022: CHEAPER Than Rollo with bluetooth mobile printing on Iphone and Android amzn.to/3yrlqxc (about $100 shipped) Still has USB printing on Mac and PC.
I never comment on videos, but this has been the BEST review video on ANYTHING I’ve ever had to research. The recommendation up front, the opinion given but no direct bias information, no random off topic information... this is it, this is how i wish EVERY review video would be made. Thank you
I really appreciate that you gave the recommendation up front in the beginning. Made me even more motivated to listen to the entire video to know why you recommended it.
@@thecollegepicker does the rollo print skus as well? I’ve just started and looking for 1 printer that can print all labels (skus and shipping labels)? Any thoughts on the MUNBYN printer it prints both? Thanks
*Love the **Bestt.Digital** Label Printer! It was easy to set up and prints super fast which makes it so fun to use. I uproot to make Shipping labels but I’m having fun making sticker also!*
Just ordered my rollo. Thank you for such an in depth review. I've been debating a thermal printer for some time and today my regular printer decided to crap out. Rollo needs to send you some commissions for all these sales!
I had to give this a thumbs up because I love that you gave the answer right at the beginning of the video!! Honestly it made me want to keep watching the video (:
I’ve watched several different reviews on the rollo printer. Yours was by far more straight forward, clear, and in depth. Thank you for the excellent review!
Great video- I work for a small FBA prep and fulfillment company and we run through thousands of labels a day. We have used multiple label machines, Rollo is hands down better, HOWEVER, if you already have a Dymo and it is giving you issues with jams etc. We have found an ugly but very effective fix which you may want to share. Take the bottom portion of the dymo cover OFF. The piece that snaps on by the button and has the teeth for cutting the labels from the machine. Take it off and put it in the back of your closet or throw it out. We use multiple label machines at once (each for different sizes and uses to fit customer needs) and we still have our original DYMO from many many years ago, it has run through at least a million labels without much issue. About a year ago we started getting lots of jams (which, yes, waste labels, but more importantly waste lots of time to address) I considered finally retiring our old workhorse, but decided to try and tinker with it a bit and see if could bring it back to life. I cleaned the inside out, cleared out any sticker residue, hit some of the mechanical parts with a little wd-40 and it all seemed to help things run smoother but it was still jamming. Then, I don't know why, but we were printing on it without the bottom piece and noticed... hey, this thing runs like new without the bottom. Have had it like that ever since and it has continued spitting out labels non-stop ever since without a single jam. The downside is that it's kind of ugly without the bottom piece in place, and it doesn't have the teeth to tear the labels off... but it doesn't bother me at all since it just sits in our warehouse which isn't pretty to begin with. If you are working from home, you might not like this solution, but if you have your own labeling/work area and don't care about aesthetics definitely try this out if you start encountering jams and misfeeds.
Thanks, I was going to buy the Dymo but now I’m Sold on the Rollo because of the price tag of the Dymo and the shipping labels. You just saved me some money!
Love the fact you gave the recommendation at the very beginning and getting to the point up front! more reviewers need to do that, you get my thumbs up!!
I watched this a little over a year ago and got the Rollo based on your video. I love it so much that now I'm considering the wireless Rollo since I print two different size labels frequently. Thank you for the video!
Thank you for doing the work for use. I was looking at the DYMO, I decided to look in customer's view of the item. There were alot of negative reviews on this item. The printer was not consistent. The price does very from 76.00 to 100 and up. I decided to go with Rollo. Thank you for the info. I decided to take your recommendation.😱
Great info. I had been using my Dymo for years but after many tumbles, it finally died. I loved it but was looking for a 4x6 model. I thought I was going Dymo but that label saving price just turned me.
The facft that you gave the reccomendation at the beginning legit made me subscribe! Thank you for making easy for us 'on the go folks' and detailed for ever virgo that ever walked thge Earth ahaha
Thank you so much for this great video on the two printers! I just got a new Mac and want to get a thermal for my eBay business. Was considering the Rollo and now I know it’s the one for me. Thank you very much!
I read in one of your comment sections for the Rollo a few months back and they said they were developing a wireless version and a wireless add-on for current Rollo printers. I think that is something to keep in mind going forward in terms of added features.
Yes I've heard they were supposed to start selling one also. I speculate the add-on will be some sort of pre-programmed raspberry pi. They said it will be about $50. Im excited to see the wireless one, apple iOS stuff isn't easy to get printing without an airprint driver, patiently waiting to see.
I sent my Demo back, never could get it to print the bar codes and I had it set up correctly but would not print anything but their logo verbiage...very frustrating. Now I am looking for a new Thermal printer...great video.
I’ve had better experience from Dymo. I’ve used 3rd party labels which is as good (price wise) as I got from Rollo and it has never jammed on me. Print quality is better and I bought it used on eBay for $125. This is a no brainer
Thanks for this. I was thinking about getting a rollo if it ever goes on sale but I'm keeping my eyes open for a brother QL1110NWB. For now, my ql-570 handles all my shipping labels (2" x7") thanks to pirate ship, but I do worry about the longevity of pirate ship. So having a "standard" option is nice.
Good luck finding the QL1110NWB. I’ve searched high and low for it and it appears to be on backorder everywhere or $600 on EBay. I just purchased the Rollo.
Hi Eric, thanks for all the help on these printers I made my mind up after watching several videos I am going with the Brother QL-1110NWB printer. My name is Eric also! Crazy. Anyway thanks again and I did sub to your videos very helpful, you saved me a bunch of headaches and problems in the future and I want to thank you for that.
A huge advantage is that Dymo has a custom label design team that can create a label specifically for my needs that include color. If it weren't for that, I'd be using Rollo.
If you are buying the none wireless wersion of the Brother, the rollo is better. But there is cheaper options than the rollo. So really none of them. If you want the brother wireless thats a good printer.
Some plastic is transparent to IR, however paper is not transparent to IR. Those sensors are just IR sensors and they use that fact to tell when the next label starts.
outstanding video! Truly. I do have 2 questions though. Really appreciate some advice: 1. can I just print directly to either of these printers from a pdf file. I mean do I have to use some other software to print or just ctlr+p from an open pdf file. 2. Are the labels shinny so ink wont run in the rain? We are just shipping boxes through national couriers? Thanks in Advance
I have the Dymo 4xl and really liked it but it started doing weird shit, 4-5 blank pages, not printing eating labels, etc and I couldn't get any info to fix it so I just ordered a Rollo last week waiting for it to come. like you said the footprint is larger on the Rollo, and the Dymo if you have a roll of labels in it and you open it the cover can slam closed and you'll remember it the rest of the day!
I have 2 old emails of mine somewhere) in my FB MB so that when I make a sale, the oldest one shows up where it says… Your label will be sent to your email …(the oldest address). Then when I print the label, it comes out with my other unused address actual street address for return address. How do I remove these addresses and put my new ones in? Thank you!
The dymo would not work with my macbook air, despite downloading the correct software. My computer recognized it, but when it came to printing it says “usb class driver missing.” Returning it and bought a rollo hoping for better luck!
You can print whatever you want but its 203 dpi which is a really low resolution so small text or logos will not show up well but large black and white text and logos can look fine.
@@thecollegepicker Thank you very much for answering, I love your videos, they were very helpfull!!! I end up getting a Rollo. Thanks for doing that review as well
On your recommendation I purchased a brother QL1110NWB thermal printer and absolutely love it so THANK YOU! !! After being told by Brother that I had to spend a couple of hundred dollars to make my brand new Apple computer except my brother printer I watched another video of yours and was able to make it work. However, there is still a very strange glitch that I can’t seem to fix and curious if you had heard of the landscape part of printing(label prints sideways) not adjusting correctly even though 4 x 6 option is what is checked? I have to purchase a label on eBay then go out of the order go to shipping labels and then it will print quickly after I choose 4X6 & reduce your 92% instead of 100%. I am not able to print from the original purchase and print page like you had showed. Any suggestions ?? 👍🏼
Appreciate you watching the videos and enjoy. I'm confused on what the problem is? Can you try saying it a different way or sending me a picture on instagram? 🙏
Forgive me if you've mentioned this before, but have you ever attempted to print wirelessly on the Rollo with a bluetooth adaptor or wireless print server? Thank you for the informative video :)
Print server via a router or so should work with all USB printers. Rollo have said they will come out with a wireless version, but right now there is no simple way.
Would you like to change your usb printer to be WiFi printer by using Cheecent CR202 print server? Then you could share it for local networked computers.
I just want to print my own 4x6 shipping once in a blue moon when I need to return something. Bought a cheap printer from Amazon name Rongta. Will this be fine
Hey man - question for you. I am needing to print a few different types of labels. A normal shipping label - seems the Rollo would be fine for this, and then another two types of product labels (only black ink) that need two different size labels (ideally, these could be a nice quality matte label that could be waterproof). Any suggestions?
I just bought the DYMO 4XL for $300.. I like the design and the way the label is stored, the rollo not that much. I own a Brother QI i think it is, for labels only. Should of invested in a 4XL before I bought the labels only printer, thought it would be more convenient for me but its a hassle and the software you get is horrible with brother p-touch its called. Now I can print my labels properly instead of using a printer and sticking it on manually with tape, the struggles with tape. But you gotta start from somewhere :D
Thank you so much! I am going to get a Rollo! ---the candy is good...so assuming the printer has to be good too...especially with all the info you presented :)
Dymo is simply trying to scare you into buying their labels. You don't have to. I've been using my Dymo 4XL for about 10 years using cheap off brand labels with no issues whatsoever.
Love your vids, very informative and helpfull. Any tips for finding cheap Zebra's 2844's? Can't find a decent cheap Zebra in the EU anymore….the ones i did find are broken...and i mean really broken. Is this because Covid 19? Unfortunate shipping from US or Canada isn't an option due shipping and import cost. Therefore i love to see some more Chinese alternatives in comparison with the Zebra 2844, like the xprinter 460b (with or without BT) or equivalent.
Hey! Don't know exactly where you live, but I do also live in the EU checking eBay and sites like that time to time, have found som good things but not much. When there is a good one coming you have to be really fast. Maybe you can look at local selling sites, or ask some old warehouse, computer shop or so. They use these kinds of printers and may have some laying around. Cheers :)
Hello, I am currently running a Coffee e-commerce business and I was wondering if rollo would be the best option for printing our stickers for our packaging. Thank you!
Thank you so much for this video. You said it won’t work with IOS. I use my iPhone 11 for my entire business. Am I going to be able to wirelessly connect the Rollo to my iPhone? Thanks in advance!
@@thecollegepicker wow, that seems bizarre! It seems like so many people use iPhones and they would really be limiting their clientele. Ive seen so many people use a Dymo or Rollo for their Poshmark labels and it seems like the majority run IOS. What a bummer! Thank you so much for getting back to me! It made my decision easy. Haha
I actually started reading comments for the same reason. I use my iPhone 98% of the time and im looking for a thermal printer to print from my phone.. thats crazy that it doesn’t support it. I thought i had understood wrong 😔...
@@jennifernavarro4796 you are welcome, it would depend on what kind of tablet it is, but I have a catalogue of videos about these printers and compatibilities on my RU-vid channel.
I think if you adjusted the settings for the Rollo it would have better print quality than the Dymo. It comes out of the box at a lower density setting than what it is capable of.
Hi, those are setting for speed and darkness which can improve a bad looking print but it won't change the dpi. 300 vs 203 DPI is in the printhead and circuit board design. You can ask Rollo if you don't believe me 😅 🙏🙏
you have to go into the printer settings and set the size each time you use a different size label. you can google how to do it or talk to rollo reps and they will walk you through it.
I’m considering ordering a rollo for my business. I’d use it for shipping and ingredient labels, is it possible to make labels that are smaller then 4x6?
