I was wondering how someone with a 30 bonus rolls a 90. I was assuming that bonuses make your roll lower.

I believe the modifier is to the target number.

Well one is a Dwarf which is certainly short enough.

I would suggest to use WHF role-play rather than D&D if you want to have that grim dark feeling.

He's said himself he doesn't take too much interest in the fantasy setting (or at least he's said so for Age of Sigmar stuff)

that's strange - I wonder why that is? Is he not a fan of JPs productions/hosting? Is it a fantasy/DnD thing? Because I've always enjoyed Geoff on these shows, even if he can be a bit overbearing or loud at times...

I just watched those episodes last week. Unless he said it in his shout outs or pre-game that didn't happen. It was prior to him being a cast member on Blades and GMing the Grim (Dark Heresy One Shot) as well.

4th feels very much like an advancement of 2nd

From the little I know about it I like the sound of 4th. Especially after the disaster of 3rd that was so awful I never had a single game using it.

Funny how you mention it being aweful and you not having played it in the same sentence. 3rd ed is a completely different game from 1st or 2nd ed but it's a fun game and the idea FF had regarding the dice mechanics works really well, it plays a bit like a board game but it's not bad at all. That said, having thoroughly read through the rules to 4th I love it and can't wait to see if it plays as good as it reads for myself. Like Adam said it feels very much like a modern update of what 2nd ed was going for and pretty much everything they've added or changed seems (to me) for the better.

I think it's awful because I read the rules. There are things about the design of the game and the rules that makes my opinion "it's an awful game". The dice was one bit that I was ok with. I play FFG's Star Wars that use a similar mechanic and it's good fun. I don't have to play it to not like it. (Just like I'm not a fan of gymnastics competitions despite never having competed.) I was actually hoping 4th would be a kinda merge of 2nd and 3rd. Keep the fun dice, but drop things like the mass cards for everything and unnecessarily complicated Talent juggling.

Honestly, I prefer the career progression from 2nd over 4th's, since it had a cap on how much you could learn at each stage instead of the bronze, silver, gold system. I don't think I can become any better at rat catching after a while, no matter how small, but vicious my dog is.

Valet's origin is Middle French. Hence the last consonant often not being pronounced.

Almost expected this and probably should of avoided an argument. I remain unconvinced but I guess I'll just have to muddle through regardless. Thanks for responding.

@@MorinehtarTheBlue in British English it is always pronounced 'val-let'; see, eg, the Jeeves and Wooster series with Stephen Fry / Hugh Laurie. American English more commonly shows either pronunciation, but 'val-let' is definitely not wrong in either version of English. In French, sure, but we're not speaking French here.

Technically, D-Day is just a generic term denoting the start of a military operation. The term has been used before and after WWII. Of course The D-Day (as in the famous one) refers to WWII.
