St Elizabeth Ann Seton (1774-1821) born Protestant and in 1805 converted to Roman Catholicism.She founded a School for girls in Maryland Maryland named by English Catholics after Henrieta Maria the French wife of King Charles I beheaded in 1649. St Seton prepared the way for the US parochial school system and founded the American Sisters of Charity. Born 1774 2 years before the US Declaration of Independence 1776. for exceptional contribution to righteousness became the very first American to be consecrated and proclaimed a Saint 1975 by the Catholic Church. 4 January is her Feast day IC
