Yeah but Gaga performance was at the VMAs and not on the same night as Whitney’s death. That doesn’t justify the Grammys blackballing her and I don’t want to say the industry isn’t racist because it is. I’m just giving context on why Gaga didn’t get the same flack as Minaj. And Minaj did not deserve the hate she got from this performance

Anything that draws on torture and hate that a certain community has caused on society is always gonna cause controversy as that community(christianity/catholic and priests) dont want to acknowledge it. The dark history of treatment of mental illnesses and “exorcisms” is something that is never talked about a lot. Bringing stuff like this to society is a good thing, thank you nicki.
This was my favorite NICKI era I think that’s why I’m no longer a fan. The theatrics! The show of it all. And that performance!? I remember watching it live and my mind was blown at the creativity and storyline. So- we went from THIS to “Super Freaky Girl” and collabs with 69!? Nah, she’s better than that. Just look at the whole Roman Reloaded Album! I LOVED it

Her ability to switch her flow and voice is key to her being the best only when another female rapper can do this even a fourth as good as NICKI will they have a chance to elevate the female rap standard that Nicki has pioneered and dominated..... I bet if u took someone who can change their voices and all they had to do was rap already written raps with flow change and energy like Nicki with the right guidance they would be topping the charts past all those one flow ers.’’’ Hell im a white girl from the south but give me a well written rap with beats to match and a team to produce me and my ability to change voices would eventually outshine real female rappers on sound bet

She’s MVP since day 1, there’s no other artist that compares to her pinkprint is unmatched and incomparable. All of those features helped those artists and herself, no one does that. I think the Grammys did the right thing... Nickki is a wildcard and has PROVEN she is unpredictable when on stage.... We don't need that on our screen when celebrating artists at award ceremonies. No thanks 👍

Gaga and Sam smith had performances along the same lines and they’ve been praised. They black balled her because she didn’t bow down to them and they cannot control her.
I get the comparison with Gaga since she was in the same timeline as Nicki but comparing her against Sam Smith is completely out of the blue since it's been like 10 years of difference and the public is more accepting and inclusive than it was back in 2012.

Roman Holiday brings up such good memories. I remember being at a hotel party and we stayed up listening to the song learning the lyrics til the sun came up. I also remember when she performed this at the Grammys my Christian mother absolutely hated it and hasn’t liked Nicki since.😩😂😅
From my understanding it wasn't necessarily the song or the performance, it was more due to the fact that Whitney Houston had died, and after weeks of Nicki doing promotion for the scammies they wanted to cut her set for a tribute. She said no to cutting her set and that's what caused it. The catholic church was used as a scapegoat (In this particular instance).
To everyone bringing up Sam Smith clearly you all just want to name drop them but Sam has not been praised specially for his Grammy performance. There is a Sam Smith hate train going on right now but the way Sam has chosen to express themselves. They're getting spat on in the streets. Don't brush it under the rug to try and make a point. As for Nicki.. Roman Holiday was like the first Nicki song I obsessed over and felt kind of silly for liking it because that wasn't the type of sound that people wanted from Nicki back then because rap has always been much of the same and Nicki was over here flipping it on its head and being a performer and entertainer.
from what I heard it was basically because they didn’t want bad press around the Grammys for the performance because of Whitney’s death and how it would spark conversation about Nicki being the Illuminati. and I understand where they were coming from but I still understand nicki’s side aswell
