At last somebody who is brave enough to compose tonally, awesome performance!
@fireplace2330
@fireplace2330 Год назад
Exactly, I don't understand the complete neglect of tonality in modern compositions. I don't think we're even close to exhausting all the possibilities within tonality. Also, it's impossible to express any emotion coherently in atonal compositions, in my opinion, except for generic angst, confusion etc. What about love, longing, sadness... There are reasons why people still flock to hear the same classics. It's because they strike a chord with basic human emotions.
@yashbspianoandcompositions1042
@@fireplace2330 Honestly I think the idea of neglecting tonality is based on challenging the audience to listen. Sometimes in my personal opinion, I want to challenge myself to listen to something which is very difficult. Other than the serialist masters such as Schoenberg or Webern, I highly recommend you to listen to Evgeny Kissin's own dodecaphonic tango. Although it's composed in a serialist style, it's pretty catchy to listen. Unsuk chin is also an exception. Her piano etudes are a great example of how non tonal compositions can be great to listen to.
@fireplace2330
@fireplace2330 Год назад
@@yashbspianoandcompositions1042 I don't deny that atonal works can be pleasant and catchy. The problem is: do they have the potential to be comforting, to convey love, for example? Personally, I think that the emotional range of atonal music is rather limited. Or maybe I'm too "uncultured" ?
@fireplace2330
@fireplace2330 Год назад
@@yashbspianoandcompositions1042 Or maybe we don't agree on the idea that music's primary purpose should be to express human emotions, i.e. as a means for catharsis?
@yashbspianoandcompositions1042
@@fireplace2330 music can be anything. Emotions are just one of them. Music is very diverse in its own ways. Composers who composed Atonality wanted to push boundaries of what is considered music. So they didn't exactly matter about the human emotion but wanted to experiment something outside of traditional tonality. There can be times where composers combine traditional tonality with serialism. They find that inner balance which makes their music unique in a way. Some works of Dmitri Shostakovich and Stravinsky can be considered really great examples. (And you aren't uncultured.)

Straight from the heartstrings. His strength is his genius as performer and composer as was Paganini's. The passion in this piece is phenomenal, complimented by its technical brilliance as is always the case with his works. This has encore written all over it. I worry that the rest of the world is missing out on what is before us.. the most virtuosic, creative, and sensational classical violinist/composer since Paganini.

Yes. I saw someone did his style for God Save the King and I felt sorry for the violinist for faring way below though I admire the heart that's there. Then I realized how Paganini worked hard to produce original music. Then thought of Roman working much harder not to lose sight of Paganini's touch and reinventing the music according to his genius. So, great. This piece he is playing in the video is so fluid in the ear and mind but too intense to be played/performed

Bravissimo! You bring back the musical language of the romantic era beautifully and you made it fresh. If the soft frets on the fingerboard make such music possible then I think the rest of the professional violin world should take a serious look at your innovations. I suspect your bow is not traditional either and not just because of the black horse hair. I would be interested to know what is different about your bow.,

Kim, you are the king of Classical Music. Much like Elvis was the King of Rock and Michael Jackson was the king of Pop. There is no violinist in history that has created technique like yours. Sure, there are violinists, artists of music, and melodies that can be "considered" superior, or performances that rival yours in the taste and interest of what the public likes. Not everyone liked Elvis or Michael, but it did not make it any less true that the performances they created is what set them apart. Kim, you do not have to play every melody or concerto to be the best, play with what you have. Like you do here. Be yourself. I wish people could let go of the jealousy and hate. My hats off to you, I will never be as good as you, but I can see all that you are. Good luck out there!
