The weird coating comes from the wax paper, the pans are covered with. It will dissapear eventually, when you keep using the paints. Aquarius is currently my most used and one of my fav watercolour brands - I love the variety and quality of the paints (and living in Poland makes them super affordable too). Roman Szmal has been producing pigments for a very long time, so I kind of trust him and believe he knows what he’s doing (fun fact - he is also probably the only Daniel Smith watercolors distributor in Poland;)). Thanks for the great vid! Usually what i do is spray my paints so they are ready to use. I find that helps. Spraying prevents the divot in the paint.

Thank you for the great video! Aquarius is my favorite watercolor brand! (I live in Belarus, near Poland) and it usually a very thick after you opened it. Later becomes more hard but very easy goes to the brush. You got so nice selection of colors, congratulations!

Listen, I'm about to go crazy. The Misty Morning color (along with some many other ones, actually!) is CONSTANTLY out of stock on Jackson's. Last time, they said it'd be on stock today (7.3), and already when I entered the website afternoon my time, it was gone and now says "Awaiting stock - due date unavailable" (for the other colors as well). I am desperate at this point 😞 I love watching your vids and know your appreciation for Szmal colors, so I was thinking to ask for you advice. Is there ANYWHERE else they sell to, worldwide?

I am, for once, looking forward to paying my bills at the end of the month. Once I've done that I'll have a more accurate overview of my new financial situation (some of my bills aren't fixed sums, like my grocery deliveries), and once I've got that sorted I'll have a better idea of how much money I can allocate to fun/non-essential expenses... My shopping basket at Jackson's has had a bunch of Roman Szmal pans for weeks now, I look forward to being able to actually buy them!! I know what you mean about the anxiety. On the one hand, RU-vid videos are often a great escape from the current situation, a slice of normal in our now abnormal everyday lives, but I think it's very important that we all in the audience remember that RU-vidrs are people too - you're going through the same things we are, on top of providing us all with much appreciated videos for free, and you deserve the same compassion and patience as anyone else. I hope you're able to take the time you need to take care of yourself. I'm sorry to hear you've received distressing news, I hope they work out well ❤️

Great, vibrant colors! Are they similar to the Kuretake gansai tambi? Sending you good vibes...feel better soon. Thanks for being here for us, but take care of yourself!

L Dolan thank you! The Gansai Tambi are altogether very different to the “traditional” sense of watercolour. I would say they are more comparable to Nevskaya Palitra, but I find NP more consistent.

Thanks for this video.... I really really want to try these watercolors especially the mineral violet, ocean blue and the pb (something) grey.. those separating colors.. i wish that it's not that difficult to obtain here and tried to order but the shipping fee is much pricier than the items itself... Nevertheless, i still want... Let's all be safe 😀👍

Thank you for this video, I love your channel! I tried RS paints for the first time and was mainly disappointed: they don't re-wet very easily and the two colours I was most looking forward to trying, Potters' Pink and Cobalt Violet, were disappointing in texture and payoff. I usually love using Potters Pink to make muted granulating colours, but this one seems to eradicate any pigment you add to it. Also, while Cobalt Violet is notoriously a colour that can end up streaky and weak, the RS version is even more lacklustre. (I did, however, love their Cobalt Turquoise, Pthalo Turquoise, French Ultramarine, Lemon Yellow, Naples Yellow and Quinacridone Gold. The scarlet and indigo are fine, but nothing special. They're all just a bit painstaking to re-wet, unlike White Nights and DS, which are my two favourite brands.)

I got a sample palette from Jackson’s, and I love it. I am now picking and choosing a personal palette of this brand. I have a few others that I like, but this is the perfect balance of quality and price. Plus, they are fun to use.

If I am not mistaken they are pretty lightfast. all of the paints have minimum 7 on the blue wool scale. On the wrapper there is an information and most of those that I just purchased has 7; 7/8 or 8. Hope this helps :)
