Helen, it is a complete honor to hear about your success in conquering this situation. That's rough and it saddens me to hear that you had a bout with major anxiety and depression. I am glad to know that the video offered some sense of calm and relaxation. How you're managing it is an admirable story of strength. Thank you for being here! - Stivi

Lovely video. I really like these paints. The price is really affordable, and the range of colors is amazing. I enjoy them whenever I want different variations of a color. His convenience color mixes are really nice to have on hand. T Y for doing this video...

Thank you for being here and for sharing your thoughts! As someone who is normally not into convenience watercolors, I agree with your statement. Most Roman Szmal's ready to use mixes are beautiful! These paints are cost-efficient too, as you've mentioned. What is your favorite convenience color, if you don't mind me asking? I have two more Roman Szmal videos lined-up.

Your videos are so well done. Informative, but with an elegant feel. And I love your commentary on the colors. Thank you for your work.

I just made my first order of some roman szmal colors, one of them being cobalt turquoise. Now I'm even more excited.

Ohhhh, I am thrilled for you! Which ones did you get, aside from Cobalt Turquoise, if you don't mind me asking? I discovered Roman Szmal some years ago, when Jackson's Art was just starting to offer them, and I've loved his paints since. Can't wait for his paints to be offered in tubes!

The Cobalt Sea Blue is absolutely beautiful. I love the Cerulean too! Wow!

I agree! Both are true stunners! It's so hard to choose a favorite from this entire lot. Haha! By the way, in a few weeks, I'll have a Cerulean Blue-focused video. 💙

This is very helpful. I’m tempted by a few of them especially the turquoises and cobalts. I’ve got the teal and ocean blue, and love them, nearly finished the teal.

I am delighted to hear that you found the video helpful! Their Prussian Blue is a stunner. Ocean Blue is easy to fall in love with. Perhaps you could sample some of their other blues when you re-stock your Teal?

“License to Quill” 😂. Your peaceful demeanor belies your quirky sense of humor 😅. As always, beautiful colors with an introduction to some that I have never heard of or seen. Bless you as always 🙏🥳🤩🎉

I love this video so much all the blues look so gorgeous and I adore their cobalt sea blue 🥰 I love how their Prussian blue keeps its vibrancy even with so much water 💙 The brushes look so nice as well!

So kind, thank you! When it comes to Prussian Blue, I share the sentiment. This is the second time that it appeared on this channel. Worth mentioning also is that its beauty radiated more on hot-pressed paper. Cobalt Sea Blue looks so calming. I need to "road test" the brushes more before I am able to share my thoughts on them but yes, the aesthetic value or eye candy is certainly there. 💙

Thnak you, an enjoyable and very informative run through of the blue range from RS. I already have some of these and especially like the look of the cobalt turquoise and shadow gray as perhaps my next aquisitions though all are lovely.

It is delightful to hear that you enjoyed the video! I have found Blue watercolors to be Roman Szmal's strong point. So smooth to work with and the pigment performance is lovely. Thank you for being here! Shadow Gray is one of my favorite ones from them too!

Thank you for your kind words! I love misty morning too but it is not blue pigment-based. It contains PG50 and PV19.

I have several blues in my Roman Szmal palette. Love love Ocean Blue 😍 Cobalt blue PB28 is my primary blue in any palette but I find Roman Szmal’s version more granulating than I would like. Not a fan of granulation for skies and clouds.
@stiviwonders
@stiviwonders Год назад
Me too! Roman Szmal offers us plenty of opportunities to have pigments without breaking the bank. A few days ago, their Instagram announced that they just released new colors including Lapis Lazuli (Afghan). Jackson's Art will have probably have them soon. I keep a stock of Ocean Blue because although it is a convenience mixture, it is lovely to play with. Not a fan of granulation for skies and clouds either but there are occasions that call for it. I mix it with another pigment for extra depth. Great seeing you here again and thank you for watching!

Very beautiful colors. I love blues. Somehow tough I cannot believe that they all have perfect lightfastness. Especially the Prussian Blue. Do you know, if anybody tested them independently? Thank you😊
@stiviwonders
@stiviwonders Год назад
Yes, these blues are truly beautiful! Thank you! They are consistent with the excellent pigment performance that Roman Szmal’s paints have been known for. As what most experienced watercolors would say, the lightfastness rating assigned normally is applied to the broader properties of the watercolor/pigment and best practices suggest that we conduct our own tests. In the case of Prussian Blue, it has variable lightfastness, depending on how it is displayed or stored. It’s extremely responsive to UV exposure but it has this unique ability or tendency to recover color once it’s placed away from direct light sources. Because of this, it is considered a lightfast paint sans permanent fading. In my line of work, we always say "always be testing" and I apply the same principle when it comes to watercolors.

Now that you've had a chance to play with the brushes how do you like them? Great video loved the beautiful blues!

Glad you like them too! About the brushes, previously, I replied to someone saying "I realized when editing this video that it would be premature for me to offer some thoughts. I have two more Roman Szmal videos to upload so these will offer, as I have mentioned to another commenter, more opportunities for me to "road test" the brushes. I'd say that daVinci really spoiled us with their Series 418. Isabey too! So in the interest of fairness, I would love to give these RS brushes "more chances of winning." In the interest of truth, for very detailed work, I'd lean toward daVinci's tip and tuft. I don't see fine detail precision as an area of strength for the RS brushes but it is worth noting that they're not designed mainly for that. I hope that is helpful!"

@@stiviwonders Thank you so much for the in depth review it's much appreciated and I'll be on the lookout for the coming videos. That was the first thing I did after seeing your comments about needing to road test them was go see if there was any videos on them so I'm excited to know we will see them again and hopefully see them up against ones you do recommend for multi use.

Thank you also! I have the three Roman Szmal videos on queue now. However, I might squeeze in a separate video for the new Lapis Lazuli (Afghan) pigment that Roman Szmal just announced. It's arriving early next week so if I have some time, I will film a video. Not a lengthy one. No promises but I will try to offer a short landscape painting process so we could further experience the brushes. I say "we" because I feel that this is a shared journey. My favorite part is their softness. I love how I feel secure knowing that the brush marks will look elegantly delicate on paper, especially when working wet on wet. The tip is now what I am hoping to see performing better next time. Perhaps I just need to be more acquainted with them through regular use. We'll see. Thank you for being here!
