The SNES and PS1 was the golden age of RPGs in my opinion

There's a whole ass remake coming out now you guys. I'm freaking out.

I have good/bad memories with this game. I played it at my grandparent's house in Japan and I couldn't understand Japanese. I liked the non-linear design of the gameplay. I remember that I died a lot though and I constantly resettled the game.

The choice of emperor has some impact on the choices you have available. For example I think you can't fight Rocboquet the first time unless your emperor is a male. Then you can only recruit Amazons if you are female. And I think your dialogue slightly changes depending on the personality of the emperor. Some of the scenarios are pretty intricate and detailed for a game so old, the Cumberland scenario is way above most JRPGs.

Romancing SaGa, and the SaGa series in general, is so underlooked and deserves to be experienced by more players!

I do confess that after waiting for this game to be translated for so many years, I kind of had way too high expectations of it, but after I calmed down and leveled my expectations, I had a good time with it.

I love the SaGa series so much. This one is quite unique even for the series, I still gotta go back and finish my playthrough of it. I love the setting and the concept of the Seven Heroes, and the weird classes and characters in the game.

I just finished it yesterday, is blows my mind that this game was disagned in 1993. You are playing a literal epic of old. And so much you do is think over, is criptic at part and some times you need a guide to help you. I would recomended this game to any RPG fan, just for the concept alone. Abd the music rocks.

I've always had a problem with saga games. Its the combat system. You got weird stats and you advance randomly. So you end up having to grind til the rng gods decide you get the boost you have been looking for Want str? Here's hp! Want that cool sidewinder skill? Here's a new skill every way shittier than the default attack!!

Last night I purchased the Switch edition of the Final Fantasy I-VI Pixel Remasters off of Play Asia and I needed another game to get free shipping, so I ended up purchasing Romancing Saga 2 based on your retrospective for the series. I'll try Minstrel Song, 3 and Saga Frontier eventually but I am really looking forward to this game almost as much as I am to playing the Pixel Remaster of Final Fantasy I, IV and VI as well as playing II, III and V for the first time ever.

Old Square games are so much more interesting than you ever really hear about, and I'm glad I started delving deeper into them. I've been thinking about playing the Romancing series for a while now, but you convinced me! _You've got a new subscriber!_

I've wondered about these games ever since I saw a picture of one of them in Nintendo Power many years ago. I don't play newer consoles much but I just downloaded RSaGa 2 and gave it a play and it's quite fun. Thank you for reminding me to finally try this series. :)

This series in general has always been really unique and interesting. Great series that often gets overlooked.

RS2 had the best story line among all RS.

It definitely moved in the right direction to make it so much better. Just wished they could have done something different than the RNG system(Maybe a skill point system and having to focus on a certain way to get stronger over many generations?). This was a games I went 10 hours without learning any weapons skills at all the first time playing it(switch version). 😂 And all the enemies during that 1st 10 hours all did around 75-300 damage before I even had that amount of health or any real money for upgrade. Lost around 40 characters to perma death. Sheesh

This game is a 10/10 masterpiece. Everyone should really try it

It's interesting to see RS2 and RS3 get such amazing remasters while FF was not afforded the same treatment until arguably the Pixel Remasters.

I might give this a try one day, after trying out that upcoming Final Fantasy Pixel Remaster.

Great video! I wish I liked this game more, though. I gave it a shot, and I really liked a lot of the ideas in it, but I found it too difficult and grindy for me to really enjoy.

How is this premise not a thing more common in RPGs?

Only ever played Saga Frontier…. Not sure if it falls in line with the Romancing Saga however..

Its a... different game. I should love it, but it gave me a meh feeling instead. Maybe I need to revisit it.

i think it took so long to get an official english remastered probably the 2 ps2 games got low meta score and sales when comes to saga music kenji ito is the guy he did have a band destiny 8 for saga series music i played the snes saga 3 and at that time graphically wise is very good but now basically can play on any platform now which is good the remastered version there are things that i was quite disappointed like the UI cant choose from the Original one and only boss have some idle animation

Wish the saga games were more user friendly i can never reccomend any aside from frontier 2 cause the rest can be sl tough and bloated

I want a 3D modern remake for RS2. Reasons: monsters & bosses will look so cool in 3D. Imagine final boss in 3D. Another graphical reason is landscape. RS2 has a really large map with various sceneries. Pixels alone don't do the geographical locations justice imo. Time to upgrade. Revamping cities, towns, villages, camps, dungeons and add exploration rewards will be awesome, like hidden treasure chests or something. Also use the remake change to add more dialogues and lore for the 7 heroes. They are rare unique characters and should have more personalized arc. Imagine they have quarrels with each other, sometimes helping the player against the other heroes. Flesh out the 7 heroes and make them rich with personality. What if you can actually make one of them join you and weaken the final boss? As reference, Sarluin isn't too friendly with Death and Shirach even when they are sibling gods. Add unique abilities to classes. Classes/jobs just feel like sprite change you just use the characters pretty much the same. Also add at least one unique character and look for each class. RS has too many generic characters. If you make some of them unique and not just replaceable units, players can feel more emotionally attached to them. Add more functions and new abilities to formations. Formations have many utility and special quirks already in RS series but I want more. Provided how tough some battles can be, I think revamping formations can be some nice counters to hard bosses or difficulty creep. With that much said I don't really expect a RS2 remake. SquareEnix is pretty dumb in making sound business decisions as they care more about NFT than games that sell. I have zero hope for a RS2 remake lol

This looks awesome but they reaaally took a lot from their Final Fantasy. Not complaining but why not just say it's a spinoff Final fantasy?

Recomendation, if u have not yet coered, SUper FDamicom had of Dragon quest 1 and 2 on one cart, and DQ 3 on another cart, official releases. They both have english patches now, it ouwld be cool for the chanel to make vidoes about them.. I just started a fresh game of DQ 3 eEnglish patch. If u do, on the Dq3 make sure use the ADDENDU
