Boy when i read all of these comments from romani people that they have lost their language I am so glad we in our country haven't lost our language and still to this day use it every day. I will pass it on to my children and so on. This is our heritage and it would be a shame if we lost it

It's originally derived from Sanskrit. Romanies are originally from around India.

Kai kerez comes from Kai kere of Marwadi 🇮🇳.. as their ancestors from india , they still manage to retain words from Marwadi 🇮🇳. Nice

I'm so happy to have found your channel! I'm definitely subscribing. Growing up I had a friend who was Romani, she and her family taught me a lot of the language, some stuff they would try to keep private as I wasn't part of the travelers, but I learned very quickly, plus one of her brothers had a crush on me so he taught me more so I could maybe be accepted and a part of the whole community one day, not just their family alone. They were great people and I only was able to know them for a little over a year before they moved on to somewhere else and it was the nineties so my friend and I were penpals for a few months, but time moved forward. Hearing the language again in quick bits makes me very happy and nostalgic. I miss my chosen family, as they were the first people to introduce me to that term. If I ever see them again, I want to be able to speak with them, like we haven't missed a beat.

I'm English roma. Main words we use are things we dont want others to over hear and animals. Because I'm near London it's hard sometimes to tell if I'm speaking romani or cockney. Either way it's how ours talk.

I really want to learn Romani! I'm Hungarian non-Roma but I'm in love with the way it sounds. The entire language sounds so beautiful and passionate. As a musician I'm thinking of composing love songs in Gypsy language. Btw all you Slovakian Roma seem to have Hungarian last names lol

It sound so similar to Hindi, Andray = Andar (inside), Kai = Kya, kereze = karna (doing), Boochi = Buta (work in Chattishgarhi Hindi).

So interesting! I am from Macedonia (including nowadays Greek and Bulgarian part of Macedonia ) and we speak differently and have from region to region many different dialects in our Romani-Languages.

It is Romungro dialect. It is used in Slovakia, Czech republic. In Hungary very little anymore. Im speaking Romungro dialect.

It's so cool to find this. I encountered so much ugliness towards roma when I was travelling in Europe. I started watching Peaky Blinders and they speak Roma and always talk about gypsy blood. Now I'm going down a really cool rabbit hole of documentaries and language..so fascinating the way they travelled soon far. Amazing culture that nobody talks about. People should stop being ignorant

Did you know , Romani’s are actually based out of India, but while under constant attacks Romani’s were the one who were taken out of India as prisoners or slaves or just because they were good craftsmen and artists so to have them in their area and after they’ve completed their work were fleed away , not by returning home but to the west that is why you can see Romani people around the globe but after so many years they are still discriminated , were persecuted along side Jews by nazis which is either not mentioned or is mentioned very less That is the main reason why Romani language is literally sounding like hindi/north-Indian languages , and the reason behind this is Romani language is based out of Sanskrit Also Romani people therefore have a lot of facial structure similarities with Indians It is just of today that I got to know all of this and As of getting to know this history me your fellow Indian brother stands here with every Romani person and whatever possible will do for you .

I’m a American Gypsy, it’s so crazy how the Words change for different vêtsas, (meaning Nationalities” like he said “sklepa” for shop or store and we say shop is “deukano” pretty cool

Thank you for your channel. I am from Brazil and my family is polska roma but ever since they came to south america during WWI the romani language has been lost, though some traditions were kept. My grandmother remembers some of the words her mother used to speak. I love to learn it all :)

I apologize if this is addressed in a video I haven't found yet, but can you do (or have you done) a video about Romani names? (As in first names, family surnames, etc.?) I know that most Romani people have typical names for the country they live in, but I've also heard that some have a Romani name in addition to their casual-use first name. Many of the websites I've found about the topic tend to feel unreliable. I'm not Romani myself, but I'm working towards a writing career, and would love some tips on naming Romani characters, and what mistakes to avoid.

But it sounds like to me that you were in more of the Baltic states or somewhere there's only one Roma language and you are twisting it around I can understand one freaking word you're saying....tu.chee son Roma tu son gadje.....sostar...ki son dilo gadjo....

Sar tukay jal I found out through DNA testing and researching family trees im part Romani and i have cousins who are Kovacs I think this is my romani family Alenka kovac is my 5th cousin and zoltan nagy and malna galambos they all come from Kovacs I don't any of them tho

That's the most weirdest dialect I've ever heard. Sound Indian, instead of romani There is more to romani, some type of romani depending on the family name, country, or popularity, have more of a modern and cleaner dialect. And tbh, I don't know why they didn't fix your mistakes, but it's hard for even me to understand their accent. "Kerez boochee?" That's all wrong, you just said "doing job? It should be "sutu boochee"

Gypsy language is very close to oldes language in the world callled SANSKRIT. First spoken Sanskrit language was found in Siria( middle east ) . Sanskrit language know and speak only 0,02 % of people in North India ,mostly spoken by High priests of Hindu or Budha religions ,when they pray to Gods ! North India is place of mix race of people ,migrants ,thats why there are more white than in South India people
