The Danube FLOOD PLAIN is very large...no one lived in that swamp till princess Maria Theresa Austria brokered a Treaty with the Tsar allowing free migration of Russians to germanic lands and Germans to Russian lands. The Germans built the dikes and ditches which drained the swampland in Romania. When the Russians took Romania in 1944, most of the descendants were taken to Gulag so no one maintains then...flood is inevitable
