Join me to visit The Tiriac Collection in Bucharest, Romania! This is the private car museum of Jon Tiriac, tennis player and successful businessman, and is home to 400 cars, with around half of those on display. From hypercars to classics, there's a varied mix of cars to take in!
We're travelling across Europe following the end of Gumball 3000 in Montenegro; with the first leg of Homeball bringing us across Serbia and Bulgaria in my AMG GT Black Series towards Bucharest, Romania. Having visited the city 7 years ago, and a quick stop at The Tiriac Collection, we are back to check out this incredible place that houses a hugely varied display of cars from modern hypercars to classic American, via so much more along the way.
However, the collection has expanded since my last visit; now housing hypercars like the Mercedes SLR McLaren Stirling Moss and Ferrari Monza SP2, LaFerrari and F40, through to plenty of great supercars from Porsche, Lamborghini, Mercedes, Ford and more. Next to that sits an extraordinary line-up of Rolls-Royce Phantoms, plenty of classic cars from the UK and USA, and so many quirky and unusual highlights.
The Tiriac Collection is open to public on weekends, and hosts plenty of private events while also supporting schools and kids activities. It's well worth a visit when in the area!

Had the pleasure of meeting Tim today at the Tiriac Collection, he took his time to talk to everyone, take pictures and answer questions. Such a cool and down to Earth dude, I even got to sit in the Black Series :D

Thanks for Shmee visiting Romania a place that still has much to offer from famous Transfagarasean & Transalpina mountain roads, Castles (Corvinus, Bran and Peles), mountain Sfinx & Babele, lots of phenomenal caves, Danube river from West to- East where it pours into Black Sea, the wild life of Danube Delta and beaches.. You can definitely will have plenty things to visit in Romania if you got time is a place that still has much to offer from famous Transfagarasean & Transalpina mountain roads (bikers favorite routes from Europe), Castles (Corvinus, Bran and Peles), mountain Sfinx & Babele, plenty of phenomenal caves, Danube river from West to- East where it pours into Black Sea, the wild life of Danube Delta and beaches .. It's just outrageous, it's hundreds of millions of euro, I would love to drive an old rolls royce, this is also one of the BIGGEST Time Capsules just take a minute and chew on it haha

The Ford Mondeo shown at 20:00 was indeed given by Ford România to the gymnast Cătălina Ponor. She also received a matching livery Ford Ka. This was sometime in the late 90s and her family used the cars as their daily’s. We lived in the same apartment complex for some time and the spec of the Fords were really mesmerising to us as kids. Hats of to Mr Tiriac for his collection and all the best to you Shmee for documenting Romania. Hope you enjoy your stay and safe travels onwards

The Ford cars were given to Olympic Gold medalists after the 2000 Sydney Olympics. The Ford Ka were given to the entire team that won the gold, the Ford Mondeo were given to the individual gold winners. I'm from Brasov and Mihai Covaliu's parents lived in my area, saw his Ford Mondeo parked a lot of times in the front of the building.

14:03 Fun fact: John DeLorean , the founder of DMC (DeLorean Motor Company ), had a Romanian father from Transylvania and a Hungarian mother (probably from Hungary, not Transylvania). John DeLorean also played a major role in the creation of a few muscle cars in the 60s (like Pontiac GTO).

Well, I somehow expected for this to come up since you said you were coming to Romania. Tiriac Collection is the best in Romania. I was fortunate enough to see one of the shops, as Tiriac himself owns some new cars dealerships. Mr. Tiriac is also owns one of Elvis’ cars with some special accents. I hope you get to drive some of the cars. Some people don’t know that Mr. Tiriac is the person who brought Mercedes Benz to Romania back in the early nineties. Stellar job Tim! L.E. The xj220, the 1st gen CLS AMG and the red Mercedes SL are usually inside the showroom but they randomly switch the cars inside because the cars need to be shown and are being driven every once in a while.

If its correct, that Ford Mondeo, as you told, was gifted to Nadia Comaneci, the first gymnast in history that was pointed with a clear 10 at the olympics. (fun fact about that olympics, the score table was not able to show a 10, so after the Nadia's exercises, she was pointed with 0.00 or something like that) 👍👍

Been there couple of years before. Heard the story of the old red Mercedes from one of the employees: Țiriac wanted to re-paint it in the original color, so he found the son of the man who painted it new. Fortunately, he kept all his father’s records and he was able to tell the color code of that particular car, for a price: 40.000€

Out of all the cars in the collection there is the Ford Mondeo with golden roof that brought my attention. I haveseen that in person as Gabriela Szabo's parents were my neighbours. Pretty amazing to see it getting restored.

I could spend a week in this place looking at all the different cars. I love to look in the interarea of the cars, looking at the dash and seats. I'd be in and out of all the cars sitting in them dreaming of what it would be like to go out on the road in some of them (sigh) .. But can dream. Thanks for showing us Tim.

In this collection there are too many dream cars all rally cars actually raced : RS200, Stratos, Alpine A110, Delta Integrale EVO, Porsche 959 Dakar just to name a few some are in the back but get rotated since are getting driven, along with all the other incredible exzibits in display..

Next time you’re in the states you need to try to get into Rick Hendrick’s museum here in Concord NC. He is a NASCAR team owner and has an amazing collection. You would not regret getting in if you can.
