Romanian Rescue Dog - Part I - First Week in the United Kingdom - Adoption Journey

Lord Falcor is a 3-year old rescue dog from Romania and this video documents the first week of his adoption journey in the United Kingdom. So much happened in his first week, with exploring a new house, potty training and his first pee in the garden. We found that smudging his wee in the garden made a big difference to the toilet training.
After the 48-hour quarantine from Romania had passed, Falcor also wore his collar and harness for the first time and we took him outdoors for his first 'walk' and visit to the park.
Watch his first video if you want to learn more about his background and 24 hours in the United Kingdom - • Abandoned Romanian Dog...
For more information about Suceava Public Shelter, see below:

We hope you can follow his journey as a rescue dog and join his fun adventures ahead.

At the time 2019 it was £300 each. That included transport, vacs and spayed. I think its around 400 now thanks to Brexit. But considering its atounf 250 to get s female spayed in the uk. Its still value. Please adopt from Romania you will not regret it. Amazing dogs @ameliagormet708

I have a dog from Romania. Mind you, theyre are usually very broken and a lot of work. Mine is in no way agressive, curious but very reserved and anxious. Had him for 3 years and he's 7 now. Theres still ups and downs in his anxiety but we absolutely rely on eachother now.

Romanian dogs are very loving dogs if they find the right person to treat them well. I am currently fostering 4 dogs saved from the streets of Romania. Its very hard to find them a good family here in Romania. I can only hooe that I can find them better families abroad, with people with a higher consciousness. If you are still looming for a dog you can message me and I will be more then happy to help you find a dog here. Much love. 🙂

I also have a pack of rescue dogs, and 2 of them were considered not to be able to adopt any more.My kelpie (poland) had 11 owner before, my greek Beauty Xena 8 owners and foster homes. Maruja (Spain) and was in the trash as a puppy. Little Lily ist from romania too, she was rescued by howl of a dog and very shy. In her first year she learned how to have a lot of fun on a farm, she learned how to walk next to my horse, agility and goes everywhere without problems. Adopt dont shop is so important. Watching this made me cry, my dog used to run down the the garden and jump to catch birds , she never caught them , when teaming her I used what she learnt on the street , I was the only one who didn’t put her on the leed, we had a mutual respect as we’re both adopted from Romania 🇷🇴, Lottie was amazing, she used to play with the horses and proper wind them up 😅, no harm to either 😊, she was a smaller version of your dog with a shorter nose, she responded to hand signals better than voice commands , speaking in Romanian helped but only when close up not far away as she’d bomb it across the paddocks, she preferred it out side and tended to be in bushes , I had it down to a specific whistle if I wanted her back , she never came back straight away but I’d turn round and she’d be my my feet in 60secs with out me hearing or seeing her 😅

I hope you do not mind me saying this but because of Falcor's deformed front legs it would be a good thing to add a "joint guard" powder or tablet (powder is easier ) to his meals . The glucosamine would help his bones. I do this for my dog who has a long back . Falcor is one sweet boy who is very clever - you can see this!

I am in Australia but you may still find the company on www.ceva.com.au the product is called Joint Guard and I buy the powder for my Pekingese . It may be sold in the UK or another brand just like it . What is a nice and good idea too for the bones is a small sardine fish every couple of days . May I also advise -- not too many of those dried pigs ears etc as they are so fatty and you do not want to inflict pancreatitis on Lord Falcor. Very easy to do with little dogs. He is a happy boy in a happy house .... blessings to you all from my Pekingese Yum Yum and I .

We are at one year with our dog now. It's an ongoing process. She makes lots of progress but she has ongoing problems too. Just apply lots of love and attention and roll with the punches as they start to exhibit weird behaviours. Mine is very chill and sleeps a lot because she was so sleep deprived for years in the shelter. She struggled to understand toys but she did learn to play tug and chase balls with a lot of effort and time spent training. Keep your expectations open and you will be rewarded every day!

He has beautiful markings. I hope those crooked front legs don't cause arthritis as he ages. We've a dachshund with the same curvature of her front legs, the vet state as she gets older it could cause arthritis. We've purchased a therapeutic bed for her, built special stairs for her (vet stated the jumping down causes joint problems) for our 2nd story house & a ramp for our couch.

How did you find it with walking near traffic in the beginning? The day I went to collect Nala and she was very timid with cars etc. But the walk that should have taken about hour took us 2 and a half in the cold and rain. The reason was that I made sure we walked on the footpath where she could see the traffic coming towards her and I would comfort her each time something was heading our way. Nala wasn't just a rescue, she rescued me too and our bond in the first 9 months together has just got stronger and stronger.

@LordFalcor 3 года назад
Hi Amy, congratulations on your new rescue dog! When you take them out depends entirely on the dog and their temperament when they arrive. I warmed up to my pawrents quickly so they were able to put a harness on me, but we had to do lead training in the garden before I was comfortable to walk outside, so I recommend doing this first before stepping outside. Some people are able to take their dogs out right after the 48 hour quarantine and some need to wait a bit longer, just let your dog lead the way, all in their own pace & time, your intuition will tell you when they are ready 🙂
