I just wish churches would teach this way. No personal opinion - so clear for a difficult chapter. Thank you so much for your simplicity and yet so profound
Yes agree. Part of the issue is using only topic based teaching in churches opens up the risk of the speaker pushing a biased agenda, and cherrry picking verses to support this. This potential bias I think is partly minimised by a whole book by book, verse by verse teaching approach such as used by Paul and Skip Heitzig. But we need more like them!😊
This Pastor is definitely annointed and called to teach. The way God uses him is awesome! 🙌 I can listen to these over and over. Spiritual growth and understanding! Thx Pastor Paul
This is how I study the Bible - with Pastor Paul. I started a Genesis to Revelation reading (my first) in August of 2019. I found Pastor Paul by the Grace of God by the time I got to 1 Samuel. I am now in Romans and PP (and the Holy Spirit) has taught me all along the way! I am extremely thankful because I would never attain this level of understanding on my own. Thanks be to God!!!
My greatest comfort in spite of all confusions are God's Attributes. I can never put God into a box where I THINK He fits in coz He will never fit in, HE IS MORE THAN THIS. Thank you, Pastor Paul, you gave me comfort in this preaching. God bless you!
Wow!!! Loved it when you explained why we want all the information so we can judge..even if we don’t get all the info we still judge 😳🤯. That’s me!!! Wow! I’m going to have to chew on this for a minute. Thank you Pastor !
I’m reformed and I really respect the way this pastor broke this down. I understand that it is hard to grasp Romans 9 for most people because we naturally want to be in control, but free will is only the freedom to act according to our own nature and the Bible teaches we are born with a sinful nature as children of wrath, so it is necessary for God to choose us and give us a new nature by being born again in Christ. Just as God cannot sin because it is not in his nature, we cannot do what is pleasing to God because of our nature. 14 The natural person does not accept the things of the Spirit of God, for they are folly to him, and he is not able to understand them because they are spiritually discerned. 1 Corinthians 2:14 | ESV 30 And because of him you are in Christ Jesus, who became to us wisdom from God, righteousness and sanctification and redemption, 1 Corinthians 1:30 | ESV Because of HIM you are in Christ Jesus. Not because of our sinful will but because God removes our heart of stone and gives us a new spirit that causes us to have faith and worship our savior Jesus Christ. 27 And I will put my Spirit within you, and cause you to walk in my statutes and be careful to obey my rules. Ezekiel 36:27 | ESV
Actually, Pastor Paul does not teach or believe a classic reformed theological position and believes that God's sovereign choice is coupled with the act of our free will.
@@CalvaryChapelOntario I never said he did, but I still thought he did a good job with the text. Although I do believe the Apostle Paul taught it that way.
Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. I've been an absolute wreck over romans 9 and the way it's presented by the calvinist group. You don't know how much you've helped me here.
@@djohnson3093 What is this negative notion of Calvinism? Calvinism view on predestination is in line with reformed theology. You will hear the same teaching of Romans 9/predestination from Lutherans for example. Maybe you are confusing hyper calvinism with historical calvinism.
@@ricoparadiso Romans 9 is used by hypercalvinists, and hypercalvinist sympathizers, to justify absolute predestination (humanity has no choice where they go, it's already been decided for us, we're robots etc.) But it's very clear that this scripture is just talking about how God can save gentiles just as much as Jews because it's up to him, it's not up to the Jews to decide who gets saved.
To all true believers thank the lord for making us vessels of mercy and not vessels of wrath. He made us Willing in the day of his power. He leaves the Vessels of wrath to themselves.
Thank you Pastor Paul. I would never understand the bible the way you teach us in every verses that we need to learn. You are truly God's gift for all specially for us who are miles and miles away from Calvary Chapel Ontario. I am hoping someday i can meet you personally and to thank God also for leading and bumping me into your account whenever i needed most of His words. Thank you for your teachings, understanding, wisdom, insight and knowledge Lord Jesus. Indeed you are awesome amazing God ❤️🙏
Thank you God for using Man of yours to help us understand your word 🙏 the Holy spirit truly works in so different ways this is how it is helping us understand the word of God like our Lord Jesus said.
Our church is going through Romans and weave just part way through 9 and thanks for sharing this teaching I’m now got a better understanding on Gods Sovereignty choice. So very thankful for God’s Grace.
Thanks for this teaching! I have been a Christian for a long time, but only more recently have I started to "dig deeper" on Calvinism. I have always viewed Romans 9 as part of a bigger picture, vs. a proof text on Calvinism, and this teaching was helpful to me.
No one knows they are predestined until they are saved. Think about it. Its your choice. No one escapes this world. You can either die once or die twice. God doesn't send anyone to hell. Thats your choice.
Absolutely loved this message....as I have struggled with Theology 1 ....now that I'm in Theology II...this speaks directly internal questions I have asked myself. This is exactly how this message should be preached.
This is an amazing teaching. The best thing you said Pastor Paul, is either we believe in the sovereignty of the Lord or not. Indeed if we say we Trust in the Lord we must trust his Word too. Thanks Pastor Paul from SC.
Thank you, Pastor Paul, for this message. It has given me a perspective and understanding of Romans 9 that I have been struggling with for a long time. I will be listening to more of your sermons from now on.
I’ll never forget one time about 20 years ago I was waking up from sleep and clearly heard an audible voice say “if God is real then God is just”. I KNOW He is just even though there is so very much in life I don’t understand. ❤
Thank you Pastor Paul ❣for bringing me to the victory that these Scriptures proclaim God's heart the prefect finish of God's work. I myself walking with God I have learned no matter what His ways are not my ways for His ways are perfect ❤ In time He has showed me time and time again to trust him and I will see the faithful loving God that He truly is❤Hallelujah to the Father God of all truth keeping us on the Narrow path leading to Eternal life ❤ Love and Prayers to all here and around the globe through our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ our soon coming Bridegroom Jesus Christ 🙏
So appreciate Pastor Paul. You always add some levity which helps when hard doctrines are addressed. You and your beautiful ministry partner, Sue, are such a blessing. You are in my prayers. God bless you and your family.
first time i am hearing your sermon,i am a spiritfilled christian and i know you are a brother in christ, i hear the voice of my pastor while listening to you. i just subscribbed to your ministry GOD bless
its been an honour listening to your sermon, i love when a man of GOD says I DO NOT KNOW, it shows humility and humility is a gift of the holy spirit. GOD bless
Pastor Paul, thank you for tackling these very difficult scriptures. I don’t get it all either and that’s ok. I get that I am saved by Gods wonderful grace and that the Holy Spirit lives in me and helps me moment by moment. When I make what I’m reading in the Bible too difficult I become of no use to anyone. Simple seems best as well as leaving the things I don’t understand in Gods capable hands.
Thank you for making it easier to understand, well explained..I hadn't understood before I listened to you. Thank you Holyspirit, thank you pastor Paul
The heart of God must harmonize with His sovereignty. When one understands that God's choice of Jacob over Esau is not about God's choice to save one person over another but rather God's choice in the election of a nation (Abraham, Isaac and Jacob) then the heart of God is in perfect harmony with His sovereignty.
Thank you very much for that information of this important scripture I understood that when people do not know God we that have the light of God within us after show them the way so that they can be adopted and experience God to themselves this is the chapter that I'm studying so thank you in advance for helping me out
God is as if he watches a movie of us. In the movie he knows what our choice is but during the filming of the movie we made our own choice and that choice cannot be changed once the movie is done. God knows our choice because God is able to view the movie that has not been filmed yet.
My mother always said "because I said so". As a kid I thought "No, really. What's the real answer?" But as an adult I see that there isn't a need for a more descriptive answer. Besides the kid will challenge it anyway. "It won't spoil my dinner, I promise."
Same. I hated that answer as a kid and now as a parent, I realize that giving any kind of answer will just make the debate or argument go on and on. Because the child will never be happy with the answer. So simply saying this is just the way it is.I am the parent and it’s whatever I’ve decided. Is the best way. Since God is a father, he just might see it the same way!
I feel rather like a child of promise and hope that promise become truth in my life! Thank you God almighthy, in the name and blood of Jesus Christ: amen!
my mind is blown away .... if we Christians can come up with something like that to question God, how much easier a non believer can make something more challenging to deny God ....
Rather Paul is showing that he has the heart and mind of Christ and he is showing that he has the same Spirit of Jesus and the same heart, mind, and spirit that we too are able to possess if we walk according to God's purpose, that we may be sons halt we hallelujah
The finish of your video is honest ... Bravo ! we accept all verses in the Bible like it or not, we kneel before Jesus and we say to Him: my Lord and my God=John 20:28, we humble ourselves= Luke 18:13-14 Philippians 2:3 James 4:6-10, we work our salvation with fear and tremble= Philippians 2:12, we speak like our brother Job = Job 40:3-5, 42:1-6, we confess as Apostle Peter that we Love Him and we follow Him even if don't like the way of our death = John 21:15-19 we cry out loudly in difficult moments = Mathew 14:29-31 we are dead every day = Galatians 6:14, Mathew 10:38-39
He hated that they didn’t wait on the promise… just like when we decide to do things in sin we shouldn’t, I’m sure he hates that. We are so determined to have what we want. 😢
Excellent sermon! Obviously the God’s sovereign election presents an apparent paradox. But just because it appears to be a paradox doesn’t mean that it is. In fact we know, as Christians that it isn’t. There are other truths in Christianity that may appear to us, as men, to be a paradox but that we know are not paradoxes. One of those is that Jesus was all man and all God. How can that be? Our minds cannot fully understand it but we know it is true and we accept it as true. So it is with sovereign election. We cannot reject it, though some definitely try, even though we cannot comprehend it.
