Romantic mountain chalets abandoned in the Australian rainforest

I found an abandoned mountain retreat recently so lets go exploring.
After I'd explored this place and headed for my car I spotted a sign hidden behind some trees so was able to try and find out about it just a little.
They were advertised as romantic mountain chalets with a restaurant which explains the first building that i found. it appears that it didn't last long and seems the owner once had a website but it is no longer operating from 2007. Because of the amount of things still left in the chalets as they were advertised, ive decided not to say the name of the place or where it is located to protect what is there so that vandals dont go wrecking the place.
Seems from the small amount of info that I could find that it sits on 15 acres that is now being reclaimed by the forest.
Sorry the video cut out so quick, my battery died at the end.
I hope you enjoy the explore.

And here I am at 75, homeless. It hurts to see these empty. How I would love such a dear little quiet space of my own.

I stayed there back in the early 2000's. The owners had no town planning permit and eventually the local authority forced them to close. The meal at the restaurant was very good, and the views superb.

I stayed here in the early 2000’s and it was such a peaceful and idyllic place. It was only 15 minutes from home but it was just a short break from the normal every day. Cheers and hope you are as well as anything!

Did you park down below and maybe they ferry you and your belongings to each cabin by something like a golf cart?? Because near the main building, the gate said resident parking.

Oh my freaking WOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Very very very sorry to see the black mold. That could of been saved. That is a piece of Heaven. A lot of fallen trees. I would of closed the door to the one that had the dishes inside. Keep it in good condition for as long as possible AND it still had the heating stove.

Just opened my notifications, there are 27 & yours is my #1 choice right now. So happy to see your video! OMG it's absolutely gorgeous rain forest. Dream location for a home cabin or condo. Looks as though proper roof drainage has been a problem causing black mold inside these abandoned properties, such a shame because each one is pretty fantastic in their own right, eh?!! Love the sounds of the birds echoing through the trees, bushes & vines. The giant ferns are amazing! The views out to the water if trees & foilage were trimmed back, WOW! The wild mushrooms are so cool. I know envy is a sin but guess I'm a sinner cuz I totally envy the owners of these properties, homes/cabins/ condos. Goodness, don't apologize for your heavy breathing, totally understandable & let's face it, that's the only heavy breathing I've been privy to in years, LOL! 🤭😅😂🤣 The trip back down must be much easier than going up. I truly hate for this video to end. Thanks for one fantastic explore to several properties in a most delightful area with my fave Ausie You Tuber! 🙋‍♀️💜✌

Very nice video, I enjoyed the beautiful rain forest scenery with the Amazing Tree ferns. Nice functional cabins scattered in a maze of path in every direction. No wonder you were winded, must have walked miles looking for the isolated cabins. I bet each guest got a map to the resort so they wouldn't get lost. Thank you for working so hard to document this abandoned paradise. Hope your health is still Good. I really enjoyed the sights and sounds of the rain forest. Stay safe in this pandemic. I always enjoy watching your adventures of Abandoned properties......

One of the problems with being located in the rain forest is how quickly mold can set in. Wet rot will also do the same. It should be saved soon or will not be habitable for much longer. Looks so peaceful and comfortable. Thanks, Michael.

That's quite a find Michael ! In its day, you can see how it would have been a popular place to get away from the rat race for a relaxing or dirty private weekend away. You can't blame people squatting there for some comfort & quietness. I'm wondering if this place closed due to bankruptcy sometime in the mid to late 1990's. It's a shame that it can't still at least be used for rental housing, it wouldn't take much time to remediate the units and clear the tracks. Thanks for sharing your find. 👍

Thanks for a great explore. The rainforest is wonderful but I could almost feel the humidity; remembering a rainforest trip of my own one summer long ago! The fungi, lichen, and the ferns were marvellous, as were the birds’ songs. Mother Nature is amazing and is reclaiming her territory. The chalets must have made a lovely getaway in their beginning. Was interested to hear your Cape Tribulation comments. That’s killer humidity, imho. No apologies for how you’re breathing are necessary. All your old subscribers understand. Just grateful you arrived home safely to post your video.

SOOOOOO.......I don't know, if you realize how funny you are throughout this video, but as usual, I have so missed your wit. In my current Qanon hell in the States, this was so needed, especially the very end- "I just saw the tail of something slither in here- I don't want to get too close, just in case". In case what, Michael? Lol The other standout? "I don't know where that shed has got to". Those sneaky sheds, Mike. Same thing happens to me every time I go up to Denver. When I'm ready to come home? Never fails, they've moved the damn on-ramps to the interstate. On more serious notes, I don't know anything about living in climates like this, but just imagining what it would take to make a venture like this successful, you would need so much from dehumidifiers, to generators, to whatever insect protection, an slithery anti-venom supplies you might need to keep on hand, just in case, PLUS, am I mistaken in that do you all not have some of the most toxic things ever, if they bite a human in the Bush? I don't mean attack, I mean insects- spiders, and snakes and such? Then, this also begs the question of whether human should be regulated against owning property where endangered animals exist, when they are going to potentially walk away and leave messes like this, and clear forest, for absolutely no reason at all, except to make a mess. Sorry, I adore most of your explores- this just made me angry, as far as what was left behind, irresponsibly. Your explore was phenomenal- I finally realized why I love the whispering. Because, it's just like if "I" was there, I would be talking to myself like this as well! Can you enlighten me as to what animals are found in this kind of forest? Sounds stupid, I know, but I live in the mountains, of Colorado, in the States, with Elk, Bear, Racoon, Skunk, and those sorts of animals, and all I can guess at are what I see on nature shows. Of note, at the beginning of the video, it will be reassuring to some to see, that even in the Australian Rainforest, Visa and Mastercard are still accepted, lol.
@adamfreeman1320
@adamfreeman1320 Год назад
Leaving the doors open will only destroy the place even more from mould and mildew and it'll invite the animals in to shit and pee everywhere so leaving the doors open won't help anyway what a beautiful area, so much potential I could fix one of them up and live in it today so close the doors mate they're still in pretty decent condition

Hey mkuebler5 - you may as well let people know where these are because they've obviously been abandoned for at least 10 years (looking at the microwaves and TVs) and by not saying where they are the rainforest will claim all of them - shame, because the fireplaces and the restaurant ovens and fridges and maybe some of the furniture could be saved.
