Liking this more relaxed approach to the campaign. I still enjoy your ultra-efficient, ultra-aggressive expansionist campaigns but it's always nice to have some more variety.

I think the 90 minute episode length is good actually. Just long enough for most people!

I really enjoy it when you are not rushing things. Wish you did a Stainless Steel campaign like this, Teching up and getting the best units. I know u hate me for saying such things :D

Legend, the Senate will not give you regular missions if you don't create situations for them to have an opinion on. If there are no bordering regions that they have a stance on, they won't tell you anything. Carthage in Spain is too far away, and closer to the Julii in Palma anyway. The Senate only gives you missions without a trigger in the beginning to get the player campaign rolling, later on they only react to ongoing developments.

I'm really excited about this campaign. I did one similar as the Scipii, without the restriction on trade agreements and adoptions, one summer in between college semesters. At one point I made the youngest grandson my faction heir and once he became leader I marched him from Carthage through Egypt. Once I was in Mesopotamia the Senate requested that he die or go into exile or some shit, and the civil war was on. Still one of my favorite playthroughs that I ever had in a Total War game.

This campaign is so fun to watch, great job, Legend!

The lorica segmentata was used from the first century b.c until the late 2. century a.d. It coexisted with the lorica hamata ("chainmail") all that time. Before the lorica segmentata was invented, the lorica hamata was used, and it was continuosly used until the end of the roman empire. These 2 armour types were the main types used, although there were other types for example for cavalry like the lorica squamata. Hope that answered your question.

Quite honestly I'm shocked at how quickly you tech up. Normally at this point I've conquered far more and built more buildings everywhere but far les tech and money. Interesting to watch

I prefer the new format but I like having a mixture so that people that enjoy short concise series and your core audience both have something that they like. It reminds me of Devin "This Is Content" episodes.

Dammit, man, every time I see you do a Rome TW campaign, I find myself going back to the game and getting sucked in for hours! Such is the power of a good game...

I can't believe you know so much about this game, but you don't know that the senate missions are triggered by your proximity to the settlements.

I really like the changes to your videos and please do play more games that you like to play, that actually makes me want to watch even more and inspire me to try this out myself.

So good to see the difference on the campaign map compared to Total Warhammer, so many more subtle decision that you're able to make. I loved that part of the game. Too bad its pretty much gutted now, where the only thing you do on the map is move around your 20 stack armies and build some buildings sometimes.

This one and a half hour long episodes with no crazy challenges are so much better, in my opinion

No your totally right about the Urban Cohort Legend. Many people including myself have run battles between them and the Spartan Hoplites with exact results. Even CPU against CPU with just those two units the Cohort won fourteen out of the fifteen battles against the Spartans and the one battle the Spartans won was because a lucky kill took out the Cohort captain right at the start of the battle.

Pumping out Urbans after only three hours of play is very impressive, looking forward to seeing them in action. Good job

I know your reasons, but I still enjoy the city management content, it helps me learn how to play the game, which is something I need if I ever wish to play this game on any difficulty higher than normal.

I'm surprised that you never recorded a roman migration campaign in Rome 1. It's a fun challenge setting up the scipii in ireland and getting senate missions to conquer the britons. It also totally changes the usual campaign dynamics, the other roman factions struggle a lot more with the exposed flank left by your moving.

I won't deny that it feels a bit weird to watch Legend just sit there. But I am the sort of guy who enjoys some basic role play while building up the best armies. Not that I sit back on every turn and turtle up. I just like building a proper empire, instead of rushing every settlement. My name is Alexander, that is true, but I prefer to not repeat the mistake of overstretching. I enjoy medium to long drawn campaigns myself. Building some lore is also quite fun, creating some connection with the things happening on screen. Anyway, I always wanted to see what Legend is capable of pulling off in huge battles with high tier units. If that means he has to turtle up for a while, I am not the sort of guy who is going to complain about it. I enjoy preparing my meals almost as much as I enjoy consuming them... XD

I'm enjoying watching Lepcis Magna grow.

I think building the blacksmith is really quite useful, as you can gain such a big advantage from the armour and weapon upgrades.

I find that, funnily enough, Spartans are best used offensively when you have a small army of them backed up by an archer and a general. Most of the time the AI will charge, and you can take care of the ranged units with your general and your archers can demoralise the infantry so much so with fire arrows that by the time they reach the spear tips of the Spartans huge dongs they flee in terror. Boxing against the Ai can be surprisingly effective, until I played as the Greeks I never really tried.

Those two guys left alone in that fort surely did some Brokeback stuff...

Actually, the best faction in keeping public order is Julii. Julii, having a Jupiter Pantheon, all four levels of health buildings, third level arena and Merchants quarter, can have a flat 105% PO bonus, but just helding games monthly alone improves it by 20%, and daily games add another 10%, so basically Julii are the best faction in upholding the order. No other nation can top that. But since Romans can held games and races, it can get even higher, but for the additional price. Egypt is second one, since after building a temple of Set to a Temple City, secret police network, public baths and Merchants quarter all of it gives a flat 110% PO bonus. And Parthia is actually among the worst. They, as any Eastern faction, lack sewers and baths, so they only have Zoroastra temple, Grand Bazaar and secret police network, which gives them only 80% PO bonus - 20% less than Greeks or Seleucids. Same with Carthage and Numidia. They do have baths, but lack the last level of temples, and therefore the last 10% PO bonus, so it's the same 80% for them. And then we have barbarians, but they are a whole other story. ; )

As far as if that greek diplomacy thing was a good deal: You could of robbed them blind for 2-4k denarii.

Personally I never get tired of hearing you complain about the shortcomings of the recent games, but I'm sure it gets tiring for you so don't do it too much! :D I do feel that the newer games are more atmospheric however, as in Rome 1 especially all the settlements are the same after a while. The new ones provide a richer experience in terms of feel for me, although regrettably at a loss of gameplay

Legend, the reason why there are no missions is because you are not at war with anyone. The Senate does not like going to war by themselves.

Legend, u make a Scipii campaign on VH/VH look so easy! How? I always fail on VH/VH because my settlements go downhill fast (public order) when I expand and the enemies that I fight always seem to have INSANE moral and can survive for ages and then I end up losing my battles that I lead my men into! So GG for the campaigns that you've won on VH/VH because I've seen ur Parthian campaign and ur Brutii one too!

So had a quick thought, im one of those who is not a fan of you cutting things, such as what building you decide on after part 5, so i had the idea of you doing an edit, what shows the production queues of city;s of the turns you edit out. Ultimately means more editing work for you. but it might give you the happy balance you're looking for. If you make each slide of a city productuon visible for 2 seconds roughly, give's those interested a chance to pause, and those who are not can easily ignore it.

I enjoy these type of campaigns more. I like to play like this myself, hardest difficulty my own set of RP sort of tasks then I just play. I think you'll find a lot of people wanting to see content like this. The other youtubers do it but most of them play on a weaker difficulty or with mods to help them cheat since they are bad.

I think the reason why the senate isn’t giving you any missions is because you can see where they are on the map because of the fog of war

Hey man, i know videos are up for long time but I wanted to ask if you know that you can move retinues of generals to other generals.Meaning you can move retinues off your generals to the ones that you leave in cities to govern

the problem with the senate missions is that u got the alliance with the numidians. So this changes the senates opinion towards them to friendly. so u will never get a mission to take one of their settlements until they attack u. kind of a mistake but understandable

now you understand the roman generals, they hated the senate sitting on their asses not sending them anywhere to expand anybody's glory :(

You would’ve made way more denarii by destroying the rebels earlier in the campaign even if you wasted 3k denarii building a decent army to squash them

I'm curious how you deal with rebels. After taking an area, I build towers across the land, so I can spot rebels as soon as they pop, then I send a mopping crew.

So do rebels and/or devastation actually cause unrest over time? Pretty sure I've seen unrest increase in Syracuse. Suppose it could also be an increasingly good spy? Haven't played in ages

The reason why they don't expand as quickly is because the game doesn't magic generals and armies for them out of thin air when you aren't ridiculously ahead in number of settlements

Doing nothing while waiting for Senate is boring. Weren't missions based on where you had your troops etc.? So if you send your troops, navies, and agents around you'll get more missions? At least Medieval 2 was like that.

So you consider it an exploit if you were to go to the fleet tab and select the ships to take them to the end/max of their movement range even though the soldiers on the ships would otherwise limit that range? I'm not sure I consider that an exploit because it's not a bug. Doing the move the navy across the whole map in one turn is an exploit but I don't think that's possible in the Rome I engine.. maybe it is and I just don't know how to do it but..

The game is already trolling you in regards to keeping the bloodline pure - Lucius Scipio is "Barren" which iirc means his chances of having children is very very low.

someone should make a mod with the units being all of legend's mispronounciations of actual things. like Hopknights and Conquistanators.
