43 years later....I finally understand what was really going on during this scene. Twenty years of schooling and NOT ONE teacher was able to explain it, really. Thanks so much!
Well there are a lot of English teachers who do not emphasize that "wherefore art thou Romeo" means "WHY are you Romeo" NOT "Where are you Romeo." Other than that though, it was taught fine in the schools I worked at as an adult teacher and attended as a kid
Remember, the real Shakespeare was full of ale and fun. For example, 'He jests at scars that never felt a wound.' Great line, but it is not a pained, tortured, hysterically dramatic line. It is a partly sardonic, ironic, humorous aside on a friend. Romeo should read that line almost laughing. Shakespeare the tradition is different from the real thing; people take him too seriously, in my opinion anyway. A lot of the original warmth and humour of Shakespeare is lost that way. 'Oh that I were a glove upon that hand...' lol Good video, well done.
Thank you so much for this video, it really helped! But I wish you guys would have continued on and created more videos for the next acts/ scenes. Otherwise, great content!
I was relying on this for my entire grade 9 read through. I've tried reading the book but I like this as a summary. Why did they stop 😭😭😭😭 Anyone know any other good summary videos?
