ROMEO-X Pro and Compact Red Dot Sights | SIG SAUER 

True, most of us will hopefully only ever be shooting anything we own on a range. But consumers want what they want, same way a lot of lifted pickup truck owners just drive to the office and grocery store. I want the M17 optic on my M18 for no reason other than it looks sleaker than the romeo X

I was thinking the exact same thing. If this was priced at $300-$350, it would put it in the Holosun 507K category of red dots, but I'm not gonna pay $450 for an open emitter EDC dot

Where did you get $450 street? It’s MSRP is $460. $409 MSRP for the compact. I suspect it may dip under $400 possibly $350 after it’s been out a while.

@@ghostx697 They claimed its price was originally $589 which is a lie. On SIGs website MSRP is $459 and $409. I hate when companies put fake prices to make it seem like a good deal when they're just charging you full price. I expect in time we'll see it drop to $350ish.

@@Gen3tx sadly, the M17 optic only fits the actual “military” or “military commemorative” models. Not the standard M17 or P320 models.

​@lucasblanchard47 But don't you worry, they'll release backwards compatible slides. So on top of the $800 I've seen the Romeo M17 go for, you can also spend another $3-400 on a slide that the sight will actually work on.

They’re selling the regular one too. It’s just made only for M17 M18 pistols. Can’t mount it to anything else, even a p320. This is there option for any gun I guess. The regular one should be in stores I hear

If i had to guess, it's because they changed the footprint. The screws where the DPP are make it really difficult to do a sealed optic. Huge bummer but it's the only explanation that makes sense, even the Romeo 2 had to do a special setup to convert to enclosed after being mounted.

@@SolDarkside coulda made the print something else like an acro. I mean they adopted their other competitors print (Leupold). They would've sold boatloads of them

I thought it was closed emitter. That looks like closed. Seems like Holosun beat by design and price.

It's the same price as an RMR and doesn't have Chinese electronics so it's open for more military contracts.

@CrystalSnake100 I understand, but for me personally, whatever product that's out there that gives me the best bang for my buck while also continuing to innovated and is reliable while also adding new products over the competition I will go to them. Sig dropped the ball on this one. trijicon is just stationary with the rmr and sro, but I understand the China Point Usa manufacturers need to do a little better, especially for the price

My Romeo Zero Elite battery dies in 3 weeks. I tested it multiple ways, picking the pistol up 1-2 times a day all the way to just sitting on a shelf for 3 weeks and it always died. Sig customer service told me it was "operating correctly" and to simply adjust the intensity of the red dot. So I did that and adjusted it all the way down to where I could just barely make it out...set it on a shelf and didn't touch it for 3 weeks....picked it up and it was dead. And yes, I did test it to ensure the MOTAC was working correctly.

I guess this is why they made sure this new one had a lowered dack do u can co whiteness with stock iron sights on ur gun.

@@RocksNRuts4 if as a full grown adult, you can't tell what an enclosed emitter looks like vs an open one, you should be mentally adjudicated. It doesn't require any knowledge. It requires eyes. I think you may be better off with the red version, unless you have a severe astigmatism. Battery drain on a red led is much lower than that drawn by a green led to achieve the same brightness. I like having a green laser or laser/flashlight like the Streamlight and a red dot.

They are just designed and assembled here. No one really knows where the hardware is from.

​@@jediscubaI have always preferred green over than red ever since trijicon started doing it long ago. As far as battery life, what I'm hearing from the manufacturers is just the opposite; Holosun and others have stated that green takes a bit less energy to reach the same intensity as red. When you're getting battery life ratings in the 50k + hour range though, it doesn't really matter much.

I don't mind if it's Japanese or German or even from the Philippines, I'm cool with it. As long as it's not China. The way things are though, I understand that having absolutely no Chinese parts is nearly impossible. At least some of the work is done in the States.

Garand thumb said in the comments in one of his videos the 8T was American made with a Japanese Circuit board and S. Korean Emitter. Other sources from people that said they worked for SIG said the the US line are shooting for govt contracts and are required to be as American made as possible and anything that can’t be sourced from the US has to come from an ally country so Japan, S. Korea and possibly Germany (I’ve heard they used German and Japanese glass at different times.) It seems it’s just as American made as a Trijicon. The difference I’ve heard is what states they’re made in. Oregon (where the SIGs are made) have strict laws regarding what can be labeled Made in USA. Trijicon is made in Michigan and I believe their laws have a little more leeway. Trijicon red electro optics are not 100% US made either but source what they can from the US. This is just what I’ve gathered with a bit of online research so feel free to research yourself. You just have to sift through a lot of people regurgitating the “rebranded Holosun” lies from keyboard warriors.

Still trying to wrap my head around the demand for "closed emitters" as the open emitters have performed just amazingly well on duty guns for many years. Everyone for some reason think they will be going into combat in austere conditions and think their home defense or self-defense gun might fall into a huge mud puddle. Truth is that open emitters are extremely capable and perform just fine in just about any condition you could possibly run into.

I think the 365 sized one is fine as Ccw weapons aren’t really exposed to any harsh conditions and are usually covered/concealed. The larger one should be enclosed imo and SIG is apparently working on an enclosed Romeo X along with green dot options.

@8654ZuluFoxtrot For competition, fun, and CCW guns it's not a big deal if something isn't a closed emitter. For a duty pistol or hard use defensive pistol that's going to be living in an OWB holster, not having to worry about stuff blocking the emitter is a way bigger deal. I have a few open emitter optics, and I'm in no hurry to replace any of them because they work fine. However, Sig is marketing these as "duty" optics and their housings are big enough it shouldn't have been an issue enclosing the emitter. If Holosun can do it with the EPS family, Sig has no excuses. That's why I'm saying these really should have been closed emitter.

@@MajorHattery I fully understand that logic and I'm not arguing that point at all. My point is that the vast majority of people posting here and demanding a closed emitter are not law enforcement using their pistols for Duty Carry. I'm retired from 30+ yrs of military spec ops and both local and federal law enforcement and I currently run a shooting school. I know for a fact that any decent sized police or sheriff's department is not going to allow it's officers to just slap on any 'ole optic onto their Duty guns. So, my point is that this noise about open emitters is just that...noise from people who will never "need" what a closed emitter is designed for.

I've beat the shit outta my duty gun with an open emitter for last 5 years and the armchair range warriors are worried about closed emitters... as nice as they are most range cowboys will never push limits with their platform... agree with you! @@8654ZuluFoxtrot

Your not going to get an American built optic for the price of a Chinese built optic. If price is more important than anything go buy the Chinese optic. I prefer to spend a bit more to support the US over China when I can.

It looks like it is sealed, but even after watching the video and looking at the pics on their website, I still can't really tell if it is. They say it's "inspired" by the Romeo M17 so I'm guessing it is. But I'll wait to see somebody review it first. If it is then I'm going to grab one once it's in stock and FDE.

200$ is the difference from a comparable holosun to this. Or you can get a closed emitter holosun for the same price. Bring the price down to 250 and we can talk sig.
