I was into kids shows then. I don't know how I missed Romper Room unless it was all the traumatic shit in my early life or maybe I didn't have the channel or something
They show part time of this show on the original Freaky Friday. I was watching that and my dad comes through and goes, “Your uncle used to watch that show!”
I work with kids of all ages and use music to connect with them and help them connect with their world. I usually write two or three kids songs for a child per week and I wrote one on the way to a school where I teach music today, only to find out that I had forgotten they were out on spring break. 😄 When I told my mother that at least I wrote a song on the way there and I share the song with her, she called me Romper Room. I have known about this show all my life and probably watched it when I was a little girl but I was born in 1985 and don't really have many memories of it. But this is right up my alley! And I always feel connected to people who make content for Children and Families. It is a different type of mind. Lots of respect and love for Miss Molly and everybody she influenced and that influenced her.❤
I met Miss Molly yesterday at Chiller Theatre Expo in Parsippany NJ; she was so sweet and funny to talk to! My favorite part of this episode is the high steppers - I remember having a pair of those back then and I'd walk all over our linoleum kitchen floor with them! ❤🎥
Just revisiting some old childhood memories! Watching this every morning waiting on the school bus and not wanting to go of course. If I would've missed one episode it would have been a cranky bad day..lol
I never watched this show, but every morning before school I would wake up extra early just to catch the ending credits of it. After this show, the original TMNT came on! So this is still very nostalgic for me.
I’m almost 40 🙏🏽👍🏽Just thanks you for these video 👍🏽...omg it made me think of all the wonderful child hood memories.... I love u mom & Dad❤️ RIP MOMMY❤️..,,
90's kid here. Literally heard of this show 35 seconds ago on Wikipedia. I gotta say, its wild to hear a theme song like this for the first time because it feels like something I can imagine being super attached too and having heard a million times. But I havent. I got hear what y'all cant and hear it for the first time AND STILL I can tell this is a theme that's in a lot of people's minds to this day. I wonder how many people still remember this theme song meanwhile I would not have heard of this show had I not looked up Leonardo DiCaprio's IMDB page.
I grew up in Newcastle and had the opportunity to meet Miss Kim at a football game in Belmont, she was sitting in the grandstand. Still remember that moment like yesterday even though it was 30+ years ago. I had forgotten that till I saw this video, Romper Room was one of my favourites!
I swear I heard my name one day and thought it was me. I was so happy. But now I know there’s many with my name but at the time, you couldn’t tell me she didn’t mean me. My favorite show as a kid. It came on early and I would get up early to watch.
The theme song heard here was also used on the Canadian version of Romper Room at the time. Romper Room was franchised to various local TV station in the US, who would then produce their own episodes locally. So who you remember as host may depend not only when you watched the series, but where. Nancy Terrell was the host in the late '60s and '70s of episodes made by ABC, which aired in parts of the US that didn't have a locally produced Romper Room. When Romper Room first aired in Canada it was produced by local stations. In 1972 the regional versions were replaced by a single national program produced at CKCO TV in Kitchener, Ontario. It was cancelled in 1992.
I had no idea Romper Room was in Canada, too. That's very interesting! I did learn a few years ago that Romper Room was in many places - not just where I lived. I thought it was a local program, only, because I knew people who went on the show. I was so jealous! 😊 We had "Miss Julie" in my area. I loved watching Romper Room after school when I was 5. I had "stair steppers" at some point. But before that, I learned how to DIY stair steppers using tin cans, a can opener and some string. It was probably my first diy project! Lol 😅
I wish YT had existed when my daughter was little. She watched some cute shows on Nickelodeon JR, but I could never get her into Sesame Street, which I loved... although she did like the Bert and Ernie segments and Oscar the grouch and wormy, of course. Anyway, I would have loved for her to watch Mr. Rogers, The Electric Company, Zoom, The reading rainbow, Romper Room and Captain Kangaroo! Those were my favorites when I was a kid. I've shown her clips from those shows, now, and she thinks they're "dumb." She's 24. I guess if I didn't grow up with those shows I might think the same thing. 😢 I'm glad I can watch things like this for nostalgia reasons.
I love how the commercials are all PSAs and not sugar cereal and plastic toys and stuff. And actually teaching kids that they *can't* have everything they want.
At school, my speech teacher told me that she used to watch this when she was little. And she would get upset when mr Molly wouldn’t say her name during the magic mirror scene.
My late mother would've been a good host @ the show. She had so many grandchildren (26), & 3 great-grandchildren. This is how she would've spent her time with her younger ones, if she had opened up her private day care. Also, she loved them so much unconditionally. 😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭🍼🍼🍼🍼🍼👫👫👫👫👫
I’ve only watched this series somewhere back in 1986 during Christmas time and during the morning when they were still airing the series because I only saw a few clips of the show as a 13 year old boy since there was nothing else on television so I turned This show until something else came on television and that’s when I switched over for a cartoon series they call Robotech, a Japanese animated cartoon from the 80s.
Magic Mirror 😂 Tell me today 😂 did all my friends 😂 have fun at play??? 😂. I see Megan, .Molly, Sarah and Drew.... 😂 And I'll see😅 you next time 😂 on Romper Room!!!!
I was gobsmacked when she said my name when i was 3 years old! and i think that same day President Reagan was getting off of a helicopter and waved, i thought he was waving at me!
Wish I could find my episode with Miss Ann. Must have been '71 or '72. Was on another show called "Almost Anything Goes"... mid seventies. I almost have forgotten all of that.
Shut up!!!! OMG! How did I miss that? I gotta ask my mom. Hudson Mall was the spot back then. That Easter Bunny scared the shit outta me though. The eyes were too creepy.
I don’t think you mean 1984. I watched Romper Room as a little kid in the late sixties and early 70’s. In 1984 I was 18 graduating high school. Well I was wrong. It was syndicated from 1953-1994.
It is definitely 1984. I have the original tapes with the dates on them. My brother was 4 here when he appeared on the show. He was born in 1980, so this was 1984 :)
what kind of animal would you be? a horse! a pony! ok lets all get into the horse and pony house. that one kid is still standing. "I want to be a lion"
my English teacher was on romper room when he was little, I do not know witch episode but he got hit in the head with a drumstick and tried not to cry on camera
Omgness.....wooo 🤦🏾♀️i just aged myself. Im here for my Nephew👈🏾my excuse.😁 I'll take Paddington Bear and his marmalade over that stupid shark song any day.
