Ron Chernow on George Washington - Full Interview 

This guy is in his own way is a National treasure. Truly brilliant. I have never seen anyone bring American Historical figures to life like him.

Probably the best Washington book I've read, or any biography I've read on any American in U.S. history. Props to Mr. Chernow for writing this amazing account of a man who's just known now for being the first president or another name, but is one of the most consequential men in U.S. history. I think Americans need to read this book, which is an awesome account of arguably the greatest general, Father, and President of our nation's story.

Honestly, this is a great interview. Props to Ron for a string of great observations and answers, and thanks for making it available.

Chernow’s Washington is THE definitive biography of our nations founder. Incredible book.

Just finished his Washington biography for the second time. It's phenomenal. A great resource for learning about George Washington the man, and not the legend.

Nice interview! Fun to just hear Chernow talk, he sounds very smart and articulate.

I've listened to the audio book multiple times and it's without question of my favorites of all time.

Would love to see a Jefferson book too!

I've recently read and much enjoyed the GW biography. Chernow guides the reader through the history Washington lived and also Washington's strengths, failings, and even insecurities as a person. If I have one criticism, however, it is that Chernow often makes what seem to me to be some questionable assumptions about the workings of Washington's mind itself.

I'm 15 minutes into this and all he talks about is Hamilton. Washington always gets the short end of the stick

George Washington was not born in the upper crust but worked his way up

Is there more?!?!??!

Would that the author of the 1619 Project could sit and learn from a man like this...you know, someone who actually studied American history!

Has such an interview been done with the late Dr. Ira Berlin, University of Maryland? Both scholars are so complete with historical detail.

How hard was it to fit his (George Washington’s) life story into as many chapters which was the number of years in his life? Was this deliberate?

There is no such thing as an original thinker yet there are independent thinkers the fonder fathers well so well grounded in the thought of the enlightenment.......

But Washington did have original thinking as to battle tactics, and as to precepts or norms of the Presidency. So Chernow is wrong regarding the ‘creative thought’ scenario with Washington.
