Yes, the effects were created by the artists at Image West. The Scanimate was a large wall-sized analogue computer made in the late 1960's. There were only a few of them (only 3 that I knew of). Image West was in Hollywood at that time, but later moved over the hill to Ventura Blvd. I was there later in 1984-87ish, when the place closed. The feedback effects were most likely through the first ever Ampex DVE. (I believe they had the first). Ampex later improved the DVE, not allowing feedback. Image West was the first special video effects studio in LA. We also had the first Wavefront and Symbolics 3D system in LA. (Wavefront later became Alias-Wavefront and then Maya, owned by Autodesk) Several of the Image West artists from these earlier years are still active. Ron died in the late 1980s. Frank Serafine was in charge of Ron's videos. Frank died two years ago - hit by a car. I do not know who has the rights to any of Ron's videos at this time. To the person below: The analog Brainstorm effects were created by myself and Brian Samuels - not Scanimate. The effects were created through my Synopsis Video system - engineered by Rob Schafer. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-0VdLVwDwm7s.html
