Famed Hollywood director and producer Ron Howard reflects on the pros and cons of his distinguishing personality traits, including impressive humility despite a wealth of industry accolades. We also hear from his daughter Bryce Dallas Howard, his business partner Brian Grazer and his brother Clint Howard, who collectively convey Ron as a man who lets his industry-leading work do the talking for him… and yet who cares deeply about the opinions of others.

Ron Howard and his daughter are excellent communicators. I guess that's why they're very good directors. Honest articulate intelligence with humility. Great interviews.

Love Ron Howard-also love the way you let them talk-you ask a question or make a comment and then you let them talk-love this-not seen very often or not often enough.

Yes, too many interviewers see it as an opportunity for themselves to appear to be intelligent and thoughtful when it isn't actually about them. I find that watching the Kelly Clarkson show. Or many others. It takes skill to be a good interviewer.

After watching several of these interviews, I’ve come to the conclusion that the interviewer is excellent. He asks really good questions and then is quiet, allowing space for the story to be told. Such a rare quality in interviewers these days. Well done! ⭐️

Wow. Just stumbled on to this. Graham hit it out of the ballpark in his interview series with the Howards. What a normal hard working family. It's too bad we don't have more of this in Hollywood.

Yes, Ron could have said he didn't have time to do the reunion film and everyone would have understood. But he respected what Andy did for him and honored that. Good guy.

Always appreciated the roles Clint Howard has played. Clint's presents in a role immediately draws you in, his focus, intensity and character portrayal are always introspective. His role on the film Apollo 13 was perfection.

I recall Andy Griffith talking about "Ronnie", and his parents. He mentioned how wonderful and engaged they were, how they understood the dynamics of not getting heady, and staying grounded. They really felt like a family. He was very good in everything

His remarks about status are very remarkable. Throughout his career as actor, producer and director, he has maintained a level-headed approach to fame and criticism. I don't think he ever curried favor from the so-called elite in Hollywood.

I love Ron Howard! I'm sure it took a while before the show biz people started taking him seriously as a film maker and it was a double edged sword because he wouldn't have been a director without all that acting experience and asking all the questions about how scenes work but I'm so glad he didn't let the naysayers get in his head or we would have missed out on so many wonderful movies and to still be so humble and grateful and not to let all the successes go to your head says a lot about the man.

I was in an airport , can't remember where, but I was waiting for a plane and Ron Howard was there as well with a couple small kids. He was not in the first class lounge with unlimited peanuts, but in the regular waiting area and was flying coach. I was impressed with how he maintained an air of normalcy.

Ron is a humble guy and I think that’s actually a great quality. He actually doesn’t have to be considering his portfolio but I think he stayed grounded from the quality people in his life in his early years. He doesn’t have to be a part of the Hollywood clique although he has every right to be there. I’m sure the actors who have worked with him have a lot of respect and admiration for who he is.

Love how the little brother loves Ron and so supportive of him and doesn’t feel jealous or cheated that he didn’t attain same. Not to say he didn’t have a wonderful life as well. Prince Harry could learn a lot from these two. Harry was always in competition of Prince William and felt cheated and that his life was only a spare not to mention he lived a life of luxury, opportunities and entitlement, hating the institution except for titles, money, clout, perks and platform, but never being happy with his own path.

Ron Howard, reminds me of John Ford (not so much the drinking and swearing, and cussing and cursing with his co stars). John Ford, is one of Hollywood's most famous and best directors it has ever had. Films that brought out the best in people of low class. How Green Was My Valley, is a favorite of mine. Lowly people in a village trying to survive, the love bond in the family circle and etc. Ron, has made various films that to me are similar to John Ford's classics. Remember, he worked with the best who are all now deceased. He had a vision and focus!

He is quite confident and yet ego-less at the same time. Howard comes to the set fully prepared with his own thoughts, but is more than open - he says "delighted" - when people bring something to the picnic to make it better. He knows this builds trust, a broad sense of ownership, and happier workers. Many ego-driven leaders insist on all ideas being their own - they will uniformly reject any idea that is not theirs, even be hostile to those who try. Insecure, petty, self-involved, and immature. Howard's genius is in both understanding this hidden law of human interaction and also that this art is a collaborative one, rejecting the BS myth of "the lone genius."

I relate to him a lot as we both grew up with what I term narcissistic parents who never validated their kids self worth; he said that he and Clint were never the star of the show at home and were bit players in their patent’s life. Me too. I always felt like it was my job to be supportive and never got support myself. Leaves you very uncomfortable with taking credit or truly understanding your own self worth.

I think Ron's time on the Andy Griffith show taught him everything he is today. Young intelligent children pick up things really quick and he was immersed in the making of stories. He learned how to arc the story, involve the audience to care and to give a satisfying ending that the viewer walks away feeling they made a good investment. That's what he does now.

Ron Howard is the Walt Disney of movie making …..his passion to make others feel emotions, whether it’s happy, loving, compassionate, empathetic…is like riding on “It’s a Small World” ride at Disneyland. Everyone sees themselves in his movies and can relate to the emotions in his characters.

This is why the bashing of CEOs but none for the hollywood elite and sports stars is ignorant, most do not realize a star sports star or movie star makes the same difference from the bottom workers as the CEO, the difference is 1 is entertainment and the other is jobs!

As a redhead, I understand Ron’s need to be respected. Redheads, especially male redheads are perceived as weak. Simply because of how they look. How many times have you heard of someone being disparaged for being an “Opie”? I know I have. We don’t start from a beginning, we start behind. It takes twice the effort just to catch up because of how society treats us.
