An invitation to discover the first solo exhibition in Italy by Australian sculptor Ron Mueck. His realistic yet mysterious works create immediate empathy with the visitor. Prominent in the exhibition is the monumental 2017 installation Mass, from the collection of the National Gallery of Victoria, Melbourne, and exhibited in Europe for the first time. The spectacular installation consists of one hundred enormous sculptures in the shape of a human skull, an enduring iconographic symbol. The exhibition also features new works that illustrate the evolution in Mueck's sculptural practice and iconic works from his career from the Fondation Cartier collection.

"Woman with Sticks" is so relatable! That feeling of life's responsibilities being as rough, prickly and unwieldy as having to carry a back-breakingly heavy bundle of sticks right up against your tender bits without any layers of protection, but the job's gotta be done, so you do it anyway.

He’s shown at the modern in ft worth Texas twice. I went both times and was completely blown away each time. Seeing his work in person is unlike any other experience. His pieces are so lifelike but the scale is what’s so interesting and captivating.

Great video. I saw an exhibit of his a few years ago. It’s unbelievable to stand next to and see the amazing detail. I kept staring at it thinking they would move. If you ever have a chance to see one of his exhibits in person go.

I wonder if a dog would recognize the shapes of the 3 Dogs? If it somehow didn't have a sense of smell (& it was of a similar breed) it might freak out.

Didn't he start out making puppets and props for movies Then decide to become an artist iin his own right. ?
@artpatico
@artpatico 6 месяцев назад
That’s correct! He started out and spent most of his youth as a professional puppet builder and performer. Then he went on performing various animal characters on a children's television show!

I am so tired of art that is heralded, just because it is large or tiny. Or it's a pile of junk that resembles something else only at the precise right viewpoint . Art by elites. No ideas but countless resources.
