My father learned to knit in the hospital, WW1...he taught my mother and then me.

My dad knitted his own fisherman's socks on four needles with a pattern he never used a knitting pattern he did it from memory a clever man he was he worked as a dredger on Preston docks times gone bye Albert Cowell I miss my dad

It's from the Irish word "geansaí" which means jumper/sweater.
