Ronaldo was the type of player that could humiliate you on the pitch, but you just couldn’t dislike him. Same with Ronaldinho. I have yet to meet a person that is an opposing fan that said they hated either player.
He's kind of like the D Rose of football, the youngest Ballon d'or (worldwide MVP) winner of all time and arguably the best teenager in football history, many saw him as the best in the world before he even turned 20 it seemed like his potential was limitless, everyone thought he was gonna be the GOAT but terrible knee injuries at a very young age "ruined" his career. I say "ruined" because incredibly he still won a World cup, World cup MVP, another Ballon d'or and much more after the injuries, despite suffering from hypothyroidism aswell which is an illness that causes you to gain weight, so despite having a legendary career he's still one of the biggest "what if" stories in football history
Of course he was the best young player. He did things on the field that nobody can do at the same speed or think about. And no player has the numbers he has when he was a talent. Take his age at Barcelona and put Messi together with CR7 of that age against him and you can see R9 scored more as twice as much as Messi and CR7 together. And to top it of he should have won the Ballon d'or 2 years earlyer but some unkown player did win by just 1 vote.
@@giovannigio3764 I wouldn't necessarily say "ofcourse" Maradona was already known as the greatest argentinian talent ever or as the chosen one before his 1st professional game and instantly started dominating the argentinian league after his professional debut at just 15, he had 125 goals and 69 assists before even turning 21. Pele won world cup MVP at 17 and would've won the Ballon d'or at the same age if non-europeans were allowed to win it back then. He was instantly the best player in the brazilian league (which was one of the best leagues in the world back then) and scored 41 goals in his first season at just 16 yo and topped that by scoring 66 goals the next season, before he even turned 21 he already scored 272 goals for club and national team, sadly there's no record of his assist stats. R9 is the greatest young player in modern football history but if you compare him with the greatest young players of all time you can definitely have a debate, alot of people put young Pele above him which I can't really argue against tbh And no he's not nr 1 in terms of goalscoring stats at a young age, Haaland and Neymar had more goals than R9 at 21 and even though I agree that R9 would've deserved the Ballon d'or after his phenomenal Barcelona season, Matthias Sammer wasn't an unknown player at all, he was the captain of the BVB team who won the UCL that season. Not trying to downplay R9 he's one of my favorite players ever, just correcting some of your statements
This video is very bad. He's one of the GoaTs. But the highlight don't make justice ro R9. The video in sidebar of Rayman "How good ws Ronaldo Nazario" is a pretty good one putting in context everything that he did as a player.
no Cruyff? no Di Stefano? to be among the greatest players for me they must be a playmaker (passer, vision) with super skills and control of the ball + defensive skills, be a complete player like Di Stefano (Di Stefano is one of the most complete player ever), Pelé, Cruyff (can play a lot of positions on the field, great IQ, can defend, very fast...). Ronaldo is very fast, strong, with great skills and dribbles but he was not a playmaker and can't defend, a bit lazy too, not a great header of the ball. At the same time it is impossible to compare a defender with an attacker and an attacker with a midfielder. And the defender is often forgotten like the goalkeeper. Only one Goalkeeper has won the ballon d'or trophy (Lev Yashin) and only few defenders won it (Beckenbauer, Cannavaro, Sammer). There are plenty of strong Italian defenders and Cannavaro wouldn't make the squad 23 d'Italie All time. Sammer is a great defender but not as good than Elias Figueroa (best south american defender of all times), Passarella, Beckenbauer, Scirea, Paolo Maldini... Zico was better than Zidane. I prefer Platini than Zidane (score more goals than him, superb free kicks taker, one of the best playmaker of all times), 9 goald at Euro 1984, 3 ballons d'or.
cruijff instead of zidane and cristiano instead of R9 let's be honest. El Fenomeno was incredible but his career was to short to compete w achievements of messi, ronaldo, pele, maradona and cruijff
@@Z4K11 CR7? it's Ronaldo (Luis Nazario de Lima) the brazilian, not Ronaldo (Cristiano Ronaldo) the portuguese. I like Ronaldo the brazilian, one of the best players ever but he was not a playmaker as Maradona or Messi for example, its the realitty. Ronaldo can't play as a midfileder. He is one of the best attackers of all times, no doubt about it.
Legend? Before giving him even a moment of thought you should be mentioning true Brazilian legends like Romario, Socrates, Zico, Coutinho, Alves, Rivellino, Garrincha. I didn't mention Pele, Neymar, Ronaldo, and Ronaldinho since they've already reacted to them.
@@epicurhyss4014 Finally someone who knows other players than the players of now, it's nice to read. Most people just look at players from now or the 2000s. And there is also Paulo Roberto Falcão, Tostão, Djalma Santos, Nilton Santos, Didi, Rivaldo, Vavá, Carlos Alberto, Kaká, Friedenreich, Ademir da Guia, Domingos da Guia, Ademir Marques de Menezes, Zizinho, Leônidas, José Altafini, Jairzinho, Gérson, Cafú, Denilson, Leonardo, Raí, Roberto Dinamite, Junior, Leandro, Éder, Carlos Mozer, Lúcio, Thiago Silva, Aldair, Hilderaldo Luís Bellini, Mauro Ramos, Dunga, Bebeto, Careca, Barbosa (the unfortunate brazil goalkeeper who was unlucky and disparaged for his mistake in the 1950 world cup against uruguay), Gilmar, Leão, Rogerio Ceni, Taffarel, Dida... It's not just dribblers in Brazil, there is many greats players from differents posts. Some are not legends of their country (Brazil) but of their respective club
I know about half of those you mentioned. If memory serves without first checking, I believe that Didi and Carlos would be considered all-time greats. But I was trying to stay with players whom I've seen good footage of that would be most suitable for reacting to.
@@epicurhyss4014 You're right, because some of the players I've mentioned don't have enough pictures or videos, or none at all, so it's difficult, if not impossible, to get a reaction on some of them. They should start by watching something other than videos of Lionel Messi, Cristiano Ronaldo, Ronaldo and Ronaldinho. Other players exist too. Soccer isn't just about the last 20 years.
Two of my favorite soccer highlight videos I've ever seen are of Dennis Bergkamp (Magic Momment), and Michael Laudrup (4 Dimensional Soccer). But even some of the Laudrup footage is of only fair quality and might be too harsh for the eyes of this generation, regrettably. But then again, this is a channel by soccer newbies, so I really don't expect too much. There are other more hardcore reactors out there who can do the deep dives into the previous millennium. I give props to this channel for venturing out of their comfort zones, and I've noticed that they have taken that deeper dive into some of the basketball players without the biggest names whom I hadn't realized were so impressive.
