There's a whole cataloge of unreleased songs and old songs from before his mixtapes talkin about street shit. You can see shades of it in his first official mixtape. Dude got a whole song on how to prep for a shootout. Im not sayin he was a shooter, but that doesn't mean he cant relate to rondo, it doesn't mean he's not from that environment. Chicago was rough when he was growing up too: murder capital. And he still goes back to chicago and every now and then you think he doesnt know or feel the shit? You don't know for sure exactly what he was doing in his youth. Shit, half his friends were gang members and drug dealers when he was young. Only reason you don't see it now is because a lot of his friends ended up dead or in jail (like the OP said his best friend chilly is in jail for heroin for like 40 something years they're still trying to reduce the sentence till this day). A lot of people close to him were hurting and he personally felt like he should put out more positive shit out into the world (his words). A part of him really doesn't like this street shit.
