Lupe was encouraging his colleague in rap to challenge himself and get better and Royce got super salty about it.

I heard the Royce verse and thought he snapped, like, "How can Lupe compete with this?" But Lupe comes on and lays a whole verse on subject and with critiques that ring true, whereas Royce was all over the place and had petty jabs. Royce's is impressive for its lyrical acrobatics. Lupe's hit harder.
Being a fan of both, I feel Royce had the better song regarding what embodies true Hip Hop, lyricism and thought provoking material. It was much deeper than Lupe's verses just in the first 3 minutes. It was like a father lecturing their son because they fucked up.
Also a fan of both, Royce had lots of filler and woke platitudes trying to get those easy plus ones for being woke. Lupe called it out, and added some funny jabs. Royce lost round 1.

I think Lupe’s hit harder, was more direct and more personal which in rap beef gets the nod. And almost always gets the win. As for wordplay, punchlines, flow, double entendres, multi-syllabic rhyme schemes and patterns etc, I think Royce takes all those categories. Also if Royce went first, I have a feeling he held back and was “testing the waters” and was more of a lyrical exercise for him. Similar to duppy freestyle vs story of addinon . Duppy was the better song, but story of addinon wins all day in “rap beef”

Royce is one of my fav rappers of all time. I love Royce's approach with word play to make a song. Lupe overall was punching alot harder and staying on the point of battling Royce. Royce finesse the track and flow. If I was judging this off of a battle in battle rap Lupe wins. If I said who had the best song Royce wins. Loved both but Lupe won this round.
So lupe wins because he was bn direct, but any of us in the comments can replicate a verse just as good or better. Royce was a little less direct, because that's how you start a round 1 for some people, but none of us can replicate what he wrote. Just not sure why lupe wins...

He won an insult contest but lost mechanically. Lupe has a Jayz cadence, not saying Jay can't rap but he doesn't exactly get complex with the rhyme schemes in the same way other lyricists do. He's more about wordplay and delivery than rhyme schemes and rhyme schemes is what made a rapper like Banks so lethal. Delivery and wordplay is what made a rapper like Jayz so lethal. I think Lupe can pull out a slightly more impressive flow than Jayz at his best and as far as going off he didn't at all in his diss. Lupe at his best would give Royce trouble at his best and we haven't seen the best from either. Mickey on the other hand probably thought his diss was his best work lol. He's trying to make those views count.

They both said and did so much and not just in these tracks. They’re both so amazing at what they do. They approached this battle shit differently. Can’t exactly pick A winner unless you define what’s what. Even up until the end they gave us amazing shit to keep, but i miss that podcast. started watching that podcast for nearly A year before it ended and then boom, they were actually adding emotion. They usually joked and i loved it because it was an example for new age rappers and the tension with competition and reality, but i didn’t like the taste of all the emotion that came with the arguing and the ending of the pod. Can’t blame or judge them. Great material i’m the end and i don’t wanna say i’d force two people who don’t get along to continue talking, but it was great while it lasted. Least’ we can still enjoy those moments.
Even though we got dope verses, I enjoyed when they had a podcast together more than this. I hate that they ended all of what they were building together.
